L.A. Confidential
(1997)

Good movie, could've been better
L.A. Confidential was your basic film noir. The story was SO great. And the characters are all so different...its what made the movie so interesting. Overall, it was a pretty good movie. It reminded me a LOT of Chinatown. The acting was great in L.A. Confidential, but I think I would've liked the movie more if it had better dialogue, and more with Kim Bassinger.

Ferris Bueller's Day Off
(1986)

A brilliant comedy
Ferris Bueller's Day Off is one of those perfectly put together stories. The dialogue is hilarious! I can recite most of the movie. The casting is perfect. Matthew Broderick, Alan Ruck, Mia Sara as the three friends who take the day off and have fun in Chicago. And Charlie Sheen has a small part in the movie, but he's the funniest character in it. If you hate school, and who doesn't, you'll love this movie

The Godfather
(1972)

The Greatest Movie Ever Made
The Godfather is one of the very few films that doesn't have a single flaw. Seeing The Godfather for the first time was the most amazing movie experiences of my life. There's scenes that stay with you when the movies over, and you don't forget them. Everyone makes the mistake of calling this film a movie about crime. Its really a movie about family. The dialogue is just unbelievable. I've seen the movie at least 30, 40 times, and I'm still amazed at how perfect it is. The music, the acting, everything. People think that Citizen Kane is the greatest movie ever made...well, there's no way that ANYONE can think that Citizen Kane is more moving, and has a better storyline than The Godfather. The thing I find so amazing about The Godfather is how Michael (Al Pacino) changes throughout the movie. Its my opinion that this is the greatest movie ever made, and I doubt that anyone can watch this movie, and think I'm crazy.

Psycho
(1960)

Greatest horror movie of all time!
Psycho is just unbelievable! The dialogue, the camera work, the suspense, the music! Everything! Just seeing how disturbed Norman Bates is, is a very creepy thing. Hitchcock filmed this without one imperfection. He used a lot of mirrors in Psycho, and I personally think the scariest scene in the entire movie is where Marion's sister goes up to "Mrs. Bates" room, and she thinks she sees someone behind her, and turns around, but its just herself in the mirror. Another very interesting thing about Psycho was all the bird references. Marion's last name is "Crane" Norman even says to her "You eat like a bird" and Norman's office is filled with stuffed birds. Psycho's shower scene is by far the most suspenseful moment in the history of film. I think so anyway! To finish this up, I'd just like to say that Alfred Hitchcock's Psycho is a classic, and no one should be remaking it!!! !!

The Bridge on the River Kwai
(1957)

The most underrated movie of all time
Bridge on the River Kwai is absolutely one of the greatest movies I've had the pleasure of seeing. The whole plot of allied forces assigned to destroy a bridge made by their countries soldiers is one of the greatest concepts I've ever come across. Alec Guinness is great, and gives one of the most powerful performances I've ever seen. Its just awful that whenever people talk about films like Casablanca, or The Godfather, that no one thinks to bring up Bridge on the River Kwai.

Singin' in the Rain
(1952)

The greatest musical ever made
Singin in the Rain is not only the greatest musical ever made, its one of the greatest movies ever made. Gene Kelly, Donald O' Connor, and Debbie Reynolds are SO talented. Especially Kelly. His dancing is just so amazing to watch. And all three have such beautiful voices, and "Good Morning" was such a wonderful song because all three of their songs blended so beautifully. Singin in the Rain is one of my favorite movies, and it has one of my favorite soundtracks

A Clockwork Orange
(1971)

Sick in a way, but excellent
Clockwork Orange is definitely the most bizarre film I've ever seen. The whole idea of brainwashing a criminal to never do harm again in itself is genius. Stanley Kubrick amazes me with just the music he picked for the movie alone. I was hooked from the opening scene! But, I did find the movie rather disturbing at some points, with the violence and rapes. But the story just made me look past it, and concentrate on the movie. In my opinion, its one of the most brilliant pictures ever made. But, you really have to look past the things you might find disturbing, and just concentrate on the story.

Saving Private Ryan
(1998)

Great war film, different from others
Saving Private Ryan was wonderful! The sound...the hand-held cameras, everything. Speilberg has re-created the method of how to tell a war story, for the better. It was a little gory, but everyone should see this movie except young children, and WWII vets (May bring back flashbacks...they've been through enough) The only thing I thought was weak about Saving Private Ryan was its characters....in a war movie like Platoon, you're incredibly horrified to see the characters die, because you feel like you actually know them. Its like you were there with them. You KNEW them, you FELT for them. This was completely absent in Saving Private Ryan. It was still great though. Oscar for Hanks, Speilberg, the movie itself, sound, and a best supporting actor for either Edward Burns, or Matt Damon. Oscars all around for this movie! There's no way there will be a better film this year.
