Contra el viento
(1990)

a strong and uncommon kind of love
Ana(Emma Suarez) goes to Andaluzia in order to meet her beloved brother Juan(Antonio Banderas). In spite of trying so hard to avoid Ana, They retake the old paxion. Of course this relation won't last forever. Good example of Spanish movie. Strong performance of Emma Suarez. The film is full of psycholgical details, that only Freud could explain.

Ryan's Daughter
(1970)

Everything is relevant in this wonderful film
The best of David Lean

It's a long film. But it needed to be so. Like Madame Bovary, Rose Ryan was a girl who had dreamed too much about love. The books she'd read, had shown a world made of romance, and never-ending love. But the main subject is: the satisfation of the flesh. We can see all the time details showing this. Now this is the main difference between M. Bovary and Rose Ryan! When M. Bovary dreams with a lover in sumptuous room...Rose finds with the Major Dorian the orgasm never got thru marriage. And she enjoys it a lot... till being blamed from the little city people for her behaviour.

Une femme française
(1995)

Beauty, melancholy and softness in a true story
This is Regis Wargnier's memories about his mother. We can see him as a boy, sharing moments of joy and blues. Emmanulle Beart was criticized for playing the part of Jeanne, a woman that could not remain faithful to her husband, always in the war. The loneliness was the reason of the unfaithfulness. Daniel Auteuil is unforgettable as the patient husband always forgiving the wife's sins.

Beautiful...sensitive and highly recommended

L'enfer
(1994)

suspense and Drama
Nelly(Emmanulle Beart) and Paul(François Cluzet) made a friendly couple till Paul starts listening to his interior voice, saying that his wife is unfaithful. The suspicion turns to be a certainty driving him mad. Is difficult to know the truth about Nelly, because her behaviour is all the time ambiguous.

The end is an unusual one, if you have seen the film, you will understand what I mean.

Once more Claude Chabrol is brilliant

La luna
(1979)

The best of Bernardo Bertolucci
The best of Jill Claybourgh too! At this point she was known as 'unmarried woman' only. This film is not a common-place incestuous relationship between the mother, (Jill Clayburg), and her drug-addicted son, but an important and intelligent point of view about how the lack of one parent may affect children's behaviour.
