The Tom Green Show
(1999)

The funniest show on TV today!!
Tom Green has got to be one of the funniest comics to ever walk the face of this earth. My brother got me addicted to his show, after he showed me his Tom Green home video. I practically DIED laughing when I first saw the video for "The Bum Bum Song"(The Lonely Swedish). I swear, the things he does are outrageous! For instance, he goes into a Food Lion grocery store and sets up a "fort" of cereal boxes in the aisle! On another occasion, he runs right into the middle of a kids' soccer game with a boombox playing "The Mexican Hat Dance", kicking the ball and trying to join in! If you haven't watched his show, you simply don't know what you're missing! The guy is crazy, funny, and original!

Twin Peaks
(1990)

A surreal sensation!
"Twin Peaks" is absolutely, one of my all time favorite tv shows. I remember when it first came out back in 1990, I was only 11 years old, but still to this day remember how everyone loved it! About 2 years ago, I saw the entire series at a local video store in the "cult classics" section and was immediately taken back 8 years! I thought it looked really cool and intriguing, and since I had grown up quite a bit since it was first on, I could appreciate the art and beauty if it. Well, that's how it all started. I rented every single episode and simply fell in love! I loved EVERYTHING about it! The music, the story, the characters, and especially Kyle Maclachlan! He became my favorite actor after countless "Peaks" viewings! He is so hot, and definately gives some sex appeal to the show. I really love this show not only for the cool characters and stories, but also because it brings back so many memories of when I was 11 years old. It was THE show even among 6th graders! Anyway, do NOT pass up on "Twin Peaks". Go out and rent it, or better yet, catch it every weekend on "Bravo" and tape it! You just might fall under it's surreal spell!

American Playhouse: Overdrawn at the Memory Bank
(1983)

One of the funniest MST3K movies EVER!
This has got to be one of the funniest MST3K movies ever made, right up there with "The Final Sacrifice" and "Pod People". I have literally watched this about 30 times on tape, and believe it or not, you will actually begin to figure out what is going on (well, kinda). The funniest character has to be the Fat Man! Never has any screen held that much bulk! Also what the heck was the deal with the anteater bashing? Turning Fingal into a babboon to punish him for watching movies? What the heck was that! Watch this on a rainy, gloomy night with Mike and the 'bots, and end up rolling around on the floor laughing your head off! "To Wendy's".

Eegah
(1962)

Watch out for snakes!!
Being an avid MST3K fan, I recently purchased this on home video. Low and behold, another horrible, forgotten B-movie from long ago about a caveman living in a desert outside of a city, stumbled upon by a man, his daughter, and her homely boyfriend who resembles Jason Hervey. Tons of campy 60s nostalgia litters this wannabe horror movie! Pretty typical MST3K flick, which was very amusing to watch the bots trash! One last thing, why the heck did Roxy's boyfriend serenade her with a song titled "Vicky"?

Bio-Dome
(1996)

Check out the "Blue Velvet" spoof!!
Admittedly, the scene where Bud & Doyle inhale laughing gas ala Dennis Hopper in "Blue Velvet" is the funniest spoof I've ever seen in a movie!! All in all, this was a fun, feel good movie, and yes, Pauly Shore does get VERY annoying at times, but hey, this is all just for fun. Shakespeare it ain't, but if you're in the mood for a fun, feel-good movie to watch on a lazy weekend, check Bio-Dome out! It also delivers wonderful environmental awareness believe it or not.

Mystery Men
(1999)

What a cool treat!
This was an awesome flick! It's probably one of the most original movies I have seen in a long time. I've always been a huge fan of fun, "quirky" styled movies, and this one certainly lives up to that category! The cast was terrific, esp. "The Spleen" played by none other than Pee-Wee himself, Paul Reubens. Check this one out if you love fun, quirky comedy adventure movies! Two enthusiastic thumbs up!

Mommie Dearest
(1981)

One of the best cult classics of all time!
Simply put. I have been a fan of this movie for well over 10 years now, and I never get tired of watching it or analyzing it! It is so over the top and campy, that it doesn't even come across as being serious about the issue of child abuse at all! However, the acting was great and the cinematography was awesome. The movie itself looks like it was made around 1945, and as the years go by, the movie takes on a different look and feel, as if actually changing with the times itself. It's one of my favorite guilty pleasure movies!

Pleasantville
(1998)

"Pleasant"-ly spellbound!
I first saw this movie on cable a year ago, and I really loved it, but didn't think anything of it really. I saw it again on cable the other day, and I absolutely fell in love with it! It is one of the most timeless movies to come out of the 1990s. Ever since I was a kid, I always wondered what it would be like to go "inside" a 1950's sitcom. Well, you will get that feeling when you watch this movie! This movie was so well cast, all the actors looked like they actually belonged to the 1950s. The cinematography was SUPERB, and the music was absolutely awesome. I've always been fascinated by 1950s pop culture, but this movie has really sparked up my interest in it even more! "Pleasantville" will now go down on my all-time favorite movies list. Do not miss out on this wonderful, feel-good movie!

Stay Tuned
(1992)

Awesome movie!!
Ah, this low-budget comedy titled "Stay Tuned" was one of my favorite movies back in junior high in 1992. Needless to say, it has remained on my favorite movies list all these years! Everyone was way too harsh on this movie, but hey, it's just good, campy fun! The movie was well cast and the story was pretty darn clever (gotta love those early 90s TV parodies!) and is downright fun! As someone already stated, this movie WILL bring you back to 1992! That is another reason I love it, because it brings back memories of that time for me, summer in particularly, which was so much fun! Anyway, give this a movie a chance!!

High Fidelity
(2000)

Not worth the bother
I saw this movie last night, and I must say, was very dissapointed. On the preview, it made it look like a really cool comedy with 80's flashbacks and just crazy fun! Instead, it was a very dull, mundane story about John Cusak's character's past and present love interests, which was so boring! If you're looking to find a fun, John Hughes-esqe type of movie, you sure won't find it here! Don't waste any time or money on it.

Whatever
(1998)

Do NOT waste any time on this movie!
Okay, this is supposed to be set in 1981? I sure couldn't tell by the baggy, dull "grunge" era type clothes they wore! I mean, what was the point of setting it in '81? I guess for the soundtrack maybe? Oh well. I had almost no sympathy for these girls, except for Brenda, because she was abused by her evil stepfather. I just did not see the point to this movie. All it was were 2 high school girls sleeping around, taking drugs, and partying. That's pretty much the whole concept of the movie (and it's ironic title). Don't bother with this one. AT ALL!

200 Cigarettes
(1999)

Just a lame excuse to play dress-up!
I am 21 years old, and I am a HUGE 80s fanatic. However, I simply do not fancy any 90's movies that are "supposed" to be set in the 80s (ex. The Wedding Singer, and Whatever!) This movie's plot looked like they were writing it as they went along! All it was about was a bunch of 20 somethings going to a New Years' Eve party! That's it! They don't even show the party! Very, very lame and stupid! Oh, yeah Chritina Ricci and Gaby Hoffman looked like they were 12 years old wearing make-up and high heels! It was so pathetic! The whole movie was pathetic. If really want to go back to the 80s, rent a John Hughes/Molly Ringwald classic like "The Breakfast Club", instead of this lame "rehash" flick!

Blue Velvet
(1986)

Pretty darn creepy for 1986!!
I rented this movie about a year ago, mostly because Kyle Maclachlan is my favorite actor, but also to see what the big deal was. I must say, this movie is pretty creepy and very "out there" for its time! The same time period that gave us "Full House" and Debbie Gibson, also gave us this horrifying look into small town America with the most disgusting villain I have ever seen on film in my life (Dennis Hopper as Frank Booth)! That really boggles the mind, for if this movie was released now, it would really be no big deal and would probably go unnoticed. I must say, the only thing I liked about this movie was Kyle. He was and still is so HOT! Talk about 1980s, Kyle definately had that "I-look-like-I-belong-in-an-80s-newwave-boyband" look down pat! Okay, kind of an odd thing to say about this controversial movie, but hey, it's my opinion! ;)

Welcome to the Dollhouse
(1995)

Shocks the first time....
I rented this movie about 3 years ago when it came out on video, and I was literally shocked at how cruel the world was to Dawn "Weinerdog" Weiner. But, after a few more viewings, the movie really grew on me in a wierd way. I began to examine all the character's and Dawn's personalities in depth. Rest assured, Dawn herself is hardly an angel, and the only likeable character in this entire movie would be Dawn's only friend, Ralphy, who she eventually turns against for absolutley no apparent reason. Anyway, this movie was pretty much as close to real life as you could get. There was no happy ending, or an ending at all for that matter, which I guess leaves perfect room for a sequel. Great guilty pleasure movie.

Small Wonder
(1985)

One of the BEST sitcoms of the '80s!
This is one of my all-time favorite tv shows from the 80s. I loved it as a child, and even as an adult, I still get the biggest kick out of it! It's very quirky, yet well-written, and a wonderful show with great family values. Long live VICI, Jamie, Ted, Joan, Harriet, and all the others that made this such a fun show!

Mac and Me
(1988)

A fun, feel good movie for a rainy day!!
I rented this movie today just for something fun to watch, and low and behold, I sure was in for a treat! This is one of those "little boy meets alien" type of movie that was common in the 80s, and it gives you a fun, warm nostalgic feeling when you watch it. You have to have an open mind to watch it; you cannot take it seriously. It's very funny, and yet sweet and touching in other places. Absolutley a fun movie! Oh, and the scene where everyone is dancing at the McDonald's to 80s music WILL make you want to get up and dance! Why they don't make movies like this anymore is utterly ridiculous! ~CosmicGirl

Los nuevos extraterrestres
(1983)

Stupid, yet strangely amusing...
Only if it's watched on MST3K that is!! I hate to believe that there was someone out there who actually thought that anyone would take this seriously! That whole scene where the little boy is asking Trumpy what his mommy looks like by pointing to pictures of grizzly bears in a book asking "Does she look like this??" is utterly ridiculous!!! This movie is so silly, it makes me laugh just to think it was actually put on film! Try your best to view the MST3K version, or else you'll be kicking yourself!! ~CosmicGirl

The Temp
(1993)

Bizarre, campy thriller
I remember wanting to see this when I was 13 back in 1993 because it looked so bad! Six years later, I rented it and sure enough, it was so bad it's good! It stars Lara Flynn Boyle (The Practice) as a quirky, femme fatale who causes problems for the people around her. Although the movie was well cast and put together well, there really was no point to it! It never really went into Boyle's character's personality, about WHY she was so strange! Overall, I'd rent this just for entertainment, not for a good thriller! Sure to become a 1990s cult classic. ~CosmicGirl.

Doin' Time on Planet Earth
(1988)

If I had seen this movie in high school, my experience would have been different!
This is a very obscure and old movie, but it has a good lesson behind it: You should always be yourself no matter what people think about you. Celebrate being different and weird! This is also a great movie to see if you're a huge fan of the B52s (like I am). Two of the movies coolest characters are dressed like Fred Schneider and Kate Pierson of the B52s! Great cheezy, fun 80's movie!
