Spider-Man 3
(2007)

Not a spectacular Spiderman, but he gets the job done
This is the good old Spiderman I remember reading many years ago: Peter Parker having trouble with his life, while Spiderman fights the bad guys. There are a number of story lines dealing with Spiderman, with Parker and with a number of other characters, and they all mix well together and builds up to the final scenes of the movie. The three major villains ensures that the melodrama doesn't get too boring, like I think it did in Spiderman 2.

Tobey Mcguire is a bit wooden in Spiderman 3. It's the way he played Spiderman in the previous movies, but it doesn't work very well here. I hate to say it, because he is so good in many other movies, but I think he is one of the weak points in Spiderman 3. The rest of the cast is good, and like many others I liked Bruce Campbells performance very much, though it was brief.

The fight scenes works fine, especially the last one, and in particular the Sandman special effects. But some people may find the movie too slow. There is nothing new or original in Spiderman 3, not even a major villain, but the crew gets the job done, and fans of Spiderman will probably find it very good.

Das Leben der Anderen
(2006)

One of the best movies ever about a totalitarian state
Usually when watching a movie, I can find one or more things that I don't like. In this case I must admit that I didn't find a single detail that I disliked. Everything just worked, from the psychological play between the characters, to the very well written plot, and the way the political issues were handled.

Most movies about totalitarian states have one or more heroes fighting against the system, in most cases losing in the end, but occasionally winning. The main characters of this movie are much more complex than that. Ulrich Mühe, who plays a Stasi agent, does a very good job at showing how a character, who might be a one-dimensional villain in other movies, thinks and feels. But the whole cast is excellent. And there are so many fine little details, like the use of the word publikum (audience) and the red ink-spot.

Pizza King
(1999)

Not much pizza in this movie
One could complain about the lack of pizza in this movie, or one could complain about how much like some other movie it is. If you want to see this movie and not make political statements about it, is not bad. It is basically a story about friendship and conflicts between different cultures. The story works fine and the acting is good, sometimes very good. There is not much pizza, but there is a lot of humor and drama.

Taxi
(1998)

Too silly
Daniel the taxi driver is no Corben Dallas, but is ok when you can't get the real thing. Some good jokes, good acting and a lot of action. The plot eventually gets too silly even for a comic book story like this. Luc Besson used some of the same ideas in Subway, which is a better movie.
