Two Weeks Notice
(2002)

waste of time
I can't believe I actually sat down to watch this movie. I feel so vulnerable. I mean Sandra Bullock is just a washed out actress. She started out high with movies like Speed and While You Were Sleeping. She then drifted into such horrible movies like Practical Magic, Forces of nature, Two if By Sea and no Two Weeks Notice. I have now learned my lesson. They are all the same. Some stupid love story where she acts like an idiot and gets the guy in the end.

What a waste of talent. She needs to broaden her horizons and go back to her Miss Congeniality self.

8 Mile
(2002)

A Two Hour Music Video
I guess this film is for die hard Eminem fans only. I mean, I had to sit through two hours of rap! I don't know why this movie was critically acclaimed. It is purely a popularity contest of the biggest rapper of today and the target audience. What really bothers me about this movie is how screwed up Lilly should be/will become and no one cares. I mean the kid watched her mother, brother and her mother's boyfriend get beaten up. Not to mention the drugs and language that is around this kid! Where is social services when you need them? Not as great as described! A big letdown in fact!

Swept Away
(2002)

Horrible!
Poor, Poor Guy Ritchie. You start with Snatch and end up with this???

Madonna, Will you ever learn to read the scripts before hand? The only Madonna film I can recall enjoying (besides her non acting but singing talents in Evita) is when she played a supporting role in A Leauge Of Their Own. You play basically the same rich bitch in every movie and lets face it, YOU NEED TO LEARN HOW TO ACT! There are no real words to describe this film. The main male character's accent was so hard to understand I had to put on the subtitles.

Let's not forget that being stuck on a beach has been done before (Blue Lagoon, Cast Away) and these directors didn't stick in a pointless music video of the main star to kill time!

Sweet Home Alabama
(2002)

Completely Hyped
Well, What can I say about Sweet Home Alabama? Cute, yes. Sweet, yes. Boring, yes. This was really slow moving! I don't know why there was so much hype over this movie. It wasn't teen/family friendly as it had been advertised as. A victim of big stars, thin plot. I'd reccomend this if you have a few hours to kill

Halloween H20: 20 Years Later
(1998)

A great ending to the series! GO NO FURTHER!
In the Halloween series, parts 1, 2 and 7 should have been the only ones made. This due to many reasons (including terrible plot holes) but mostly because of our hero Laurie Strode/Kerri Tate. This movie was so special that it captures much from the original. See this one and go no further!

Back to the Future Part II
(1989)

Great sequel! An Under rated Classic!
In very few cases can a sequel hold the same magic as the first one. In Back to the Future part 2, the film makers are able to not only introduce new and exciting adventures for these characters that have grown dear to our hearts but also, review events of the first film and do an amazing job.

I loved this movie just as much as the original and highly recommend it for the entire family.

Final Destination 2
(2003)

Much Gorier...
Although I enjoyed this movie, I must say the first one is much better. It did what few movies do which is concentrate on scares instead of gore, blood and guts. Although the acting was good in this movie, I still have to ask why do they always make sequels to horror films? I can only think of one that doesn't have a sequel and that is The Shining. I reccomend this movie if you have time to kill.

How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days
(2003)

Great romantic comedy, the best I've seen in a while!
There are no words to describe this movie. I found it hillarious and heartwarming. The two principle actors were great as their roles as Ben and Andie. Kate Hudson was great at driving Ben nuts. I laughed for days.

I loved the soundtrack too. It had classics and modern day classics.

I feel this movie will go down as a classic with such films as Pretty Woman and Dirty Dancing.

Back to the Future
(1985)

Absolutely Amazing
I can't believe I waited this long to watch the trilogy. I'm so glad I did. This movie amazes me and makes me laugh every single time. This is truly a classic. Michael J. Fox was riding high at this point in his life with the popularity of "Family Ties", this film at #1 on the box office and his "Teen Wolf" at #2. The acting was great, the music and score were awesome. This is a great film that deserves recognition as one of the greatest.

Stolen Miracle
(2001)

Good retelling of a true story
About two years ago I remember seeing a special on stolen/missing people in Canada. Some had conclusions to their stories, others did not. I remember seeing a segment about a woman posing as a nurse in a small town Ontario hospital and walking out with a baby girl. This 1993 Christmas time abduction was the inspiration for CTV's wonderfully done tv movie "Stolen Miracle"

Although there were a few changes adjusted, I still find this story amazing. Sgt Jane Mckinnley was brilliant. Margerat (Mary, the kidnapper) had almost all the angles covered and Jane was smart enough to break through them. Although some characters I could have done without. Jane's son Brandon was a whiney little brat and her boss Dugan was not much better. I felt the plot centered mostly around Jane and her family's problems and not the Lewis' struggle with their premature birth, kidnapping of their son and trying to keep their five year old happy.

All in all, a heartwarming movie that will make you angry and make you cry. But one last thing...What happened to the kidnapper Mary?

American Pie 2
(2001)

Better than the first!
It's not often you can say that the sequel was better than the original. But in the case of "American Pie 2" it's true. The first thing that really charmed me is every single main character is back. Everyone who had some relevance to the plot line is back for the sequel. I don't think this has ever happened. They didn't try to over do the jokes in the film. They were funny and not at all stupid. I also enjoyed the tie-ins from the original. Such as Stiffler's now hatred for Finch and Jim still getting himself into "sticky" situations. The best parts were Jim's choice in the end and Stiffler's now stupid side.

American Pie
(1999)

Awesome Movie!
From the moment I saw the trailer for "American Pie" I knew it would become a hit. When I saw it back in July 1999, I thought it was hilarious. Although I had seen "There's something about Mary" I wasn't used to the new trend of gross out comedies. After seeing American Pie I left the theater laughing for days. This movie tops the list of gross out comedies and no one should go without seeing it. It will offend and charm you. It's the "Porky's" of the 1990s

Wes Craven's New Nightmare
(1994)

You really have to be a fan of the original
This is the perfect way to end such a popular franchise! The 10 year anniversary of the classic film was celebrated by reuniting Robert England, Heather Lagenkamp and (most importantly) Wes Craven. This rekindles the magic the original film had and it gets rid of the stupid 8th grade humor all the sequels carried. It goes back to making Freddy scary instead of making him some loveable comedian. I reccomend you view the original film "A Nightmare on Elm street" as this will read like "pig latin" to anyone who hasn't seen it.

Scream 3
(2000)

Good but what genre is this?
At least it's better than Scream 2! I enjoyed the final chapter of the ever popular Scream series but I noticed one major thing: where are the spoofs and references? It took another turn and tried to be serious. I enjoyed reunting with the old characters and meeting a fresh new group of them. It was great to see Randy again as it broke my heart when he died in Scream 2. This is a great end to the great trilogy.

Scream 2
(1997)

They tried to hard...
Not only was this film rushed into production after the original was such a huge success but they tried too hard to make it scarier, funnier and better. Watching this movie I see the references, the humour and the characters I grew to love from the original. But, there is something really important missing. A NEW PLOT. Sidney is scared, she's a loner, she has a past, something bad happened to her. We've seen this all before. Gail is just as tough and rude as she always was. Randy's a geek, Dewey's a geek, and there's a whole new group of whiners. The killer is predictable, and once again, a repeat of the original.

Scream
(1996)

funky, scary, sexy, cool
Just when you thought the horror genre was dead and buried Wes Craven released Scream in the mid 1990's and it was the surprise smash hit of most horror films of all time! Sitting down to watch this, after the first scene I was freaked. Every movie has it's one famous moment and Drew Barrymore's scene has gone down in history as one of the scariest moments of all time. The rest of the movie (although scary at times) is really comic relief. An enjoyable little film which has reopened us to a new kind of horror and has made it's cast stars. The film carries many spoofs and references to classic horror films and has repopularized them. Scream will remain with me as *the* film of my teenage years

Freddy's Dead: The Final Nightmare
(1991)

Just kill him and get it over with!
First off, no one (with the exception of the ever young Breckin Myer) can act in this movie! Secondly, it makes no sense. Through the series characters research Freddy's past life and nothing is ever mentioned about his marriage and child. I find this highly unlikely. And third, it really annoys me when the try to end a popular series advertising "The final one" when they just end up making another film. This movie literally makes me nauscious

Poltergeist III
(1988)

Fatally Screwed
As if Poltergeist 2 wasn't bad enough, poor Heather O'Rourke last film is the terribley weird Poltergeist lll. We are doomed to hear not only the characters scream CAROL ANNE through the movie but we are also annoyed by listening to the ever annoying two some: Tangina and Marcie! Why couldn't the two of them shut the hell up? The Gardner parents also drove me nuts. Bruce seemed a little to affectionate towards his daughter and the words "Evil little Brat" came out of Pat's (or Aunt Trish (what ever makes sense to you)) mouth too many times. Also, along with Tangina's and Marcie's, Kane's and Dr. Seaton's voices were like fingernails on a chalkboard. The things that annoyed me the most was the fact that Scott was never brought back from the other side and Carol Anne was way too old for her stupid speak and spell and those red pajamas. Also, why the hell was there a tv in her room? Take my advice people, although it is slightly (by a hair) better than Poltergeist 2...SKIP THIS ONE!!!

Friday the 13th
(1980)

From the eyes of a camper:
Man, to this day this movie still freaks me out. As a young girl I fondly remember watching this movie every summer before heading off to Summer camp and being terrified to leave (or even lie in) my tent at night. And even last summer, watching this movie before heading off to get that same camp ready for my time as a camp counsellor. Watching this movie for the millionth time I realize as scary as it is, why was it so looked down upon? And, Why was it nominated for Worst Picture? It is a classic slasher film and opened the doors for a lot of scary movies.

This can actually be quite terrifying to watch. Thinking "could that be me?" "Does things like this actually happen?" etc. Give it go, What have you got to lose other than your sleep?

Poltergeist
(1982)

One of the greatest SCI FI movies I've ever seen
Poltergeist is an amazing movie. It combines science fiction, horror, comedy and drama and does it fantastically. Although even the best of movies have their flaws. First off, I don't understand Dana. She serves no real point in the movie. While everything happens, she's off at friends houses. But, for the rest of the series it is as if she never existed (we all know the actress that portrayed her was tragically killed and the writers never put her in the scripts again). Secondly, I don't understand the sub plot about Dana's birth. Steven mentions Dana is sixteen and Diane is 32. This means that Diane was 16 when Dana was born. This was mentioned and never elaborated on. As the years pass, we see Poltergeist spoofs everywhere and a whole new generation will be introduced to this amazing film.

Bridget Jones's Diary
(2001)

Absolutely Hilarious
Absolutely one of the best romantic comedies I've seen in a long time! Renee did a great job in her role. She played her so perfectly and even gained 25 extra pounds. I liked Bridget's alcoholic, single, workaholic craziness and how we basically got to go inside her head and really discover what she was thinking. Other movies such as "City of Angels" and "What Women Want" have tried to go inside women's thoughts and have not really suceded. "Bridget Jones Diary" will become a classic like Pretty Woman. I can predict it already

Coyote Ugly
(2000)

Falsely Advertised
What a shocker! Coyote Ugly was a great movie! Looking at the commercials I was expecting a PG-13 version of "Showgirls". Instead, I saw a young dreamer fight to meet her goals and learn how tough the world can be. I was surprised at how much of a "coming of age" movie this was. A fresh, young, hot, new group of actors and an amazing soundtrack add to this movie's greatness.

Dawson's Creek
(1998)

I've watched them grow!
What can I say? I've been a HUGE fan since January of 1998 and I will be until the series finale. I've watched the characters change and grow for the past four seasons as I too, have struggled through High School. The big thing I've noticed is change. In the beginning, Dawson, Joey and Pacey all had each other when new girl Jen (with a past) moves in next door with an eye for Dawson leaving Joey jealous and hating Jen and Dawson all wrapped up in love. We watched and waited all season for Dawson and Joey to come together while Gail had an affair, Bessie and Bodie had a baby unmarried (and were two different colors), Pacey sleeping with his English teacher and Grams' husband die. At the end of season Dawson came through with his feelings for Joey. Since that great first season, we have dealt with much more topics including love triangles, divorces, arests, drug dealing and addictions, alcoholism, mental illness, pregnancies and the big one...SEX! As I look back on the past four seasons, I realise how much Joey and Jen have changed. Joey, the sarcastic, poor, outcast has now become so hypacritical and at times, annoying. Jen, the annoying whiner with a past has now become an amazing, friendly person. Who knows what seaon 5 will bring but, Dawson and Joey's relationship will most definately never be the same again (deja vu). Only one request...BRING BACK ANDIE!!!!

Follow the Stars Home
(2001)

Great Novel Adaption
Wow! This movie was just amazing! I went out and bought the book the next day! I couldn't believe a cheesy movie of the week could be this good. The movie is honest, heart warming and truthful about the ignorance of people and the mistakes we make. We not only are left to think "Did Dianne make the right choices in the movie?" but also think "Why would I do in her situation? Should she have had Julia? Would i react the same as her husband did? Is it wrong to date your brother in law? Should Julia's doctor really have been her uncle? What should be done with abusive boyfriends and alcoholics? Great movie! Buy it when Hallmark releases the video!

Poltergeist II: The Other Side
(1986)

Will ruin your love of the first
Poltergeist was an amazing movie. It was (and still is) considered one of the best Sci-Fi/Horror movies ever. Four years later, Poltergeist II :the other side was released. The first dumb mistake was not mentioning anything about Daina. Not that she was a vital character in the original but she was part of the family. I know that the actress was tragically killed but they could of at least said something like "Well, now that Daina's in University..." The rest of the movie is pretty dull. I can't get over how pointless and stupid the plotline, effects and everything else was. They should of never made a sequel. And saying that only a year had past? Carol Anne and Robbie do not look 6 and 9. Try 9 and 12. Watch the original, forget about the sequels.
