Ironclad
(2011)

Shaky-Cam, Shaky-Film
This could have been a great film. It has the epic historic story, the great cast and a rising star in James Purefoy... but it's all let down by that stupid 'technique' of the shaky-camera.

Yes this film has loads of bloodshed and violence, as it should be, but good luck in actually seeing most of it! I question why anyone would make a film with some horrifically violent scenes and then use shaky-cam for the rest? It's clearly not for censors...so what? It's LAZY film making ladies & gents.

If you get sea-sick you'd best stay clear. As for this piece of uninspired crap.... I hope it drowns.

The Keyman
(2001)

A Triumph!
The Keyman is a triumph in independent film-making. It manages to keep your attention from start to finish without losing sight of the bigger picture.

The performances are top notch from the three main characters, with my special praise going to Adam Baldwin and Tom Wright, who really stand out.

The film never felt overly long because the pacing seems to have been timed in Switzerland!

Sure the film, like every other, has it flaws. The character that Ellen Locy plays maybe could have used something more and you feel that Tom Wright's Popeye may at any moment come out with "I ain't getting' on no plane fool!", but these things pale into the background when faced with the films question of what would happen to you if a similar tragedy had happened.

And, you know that every has that one scene that you'll remember it for. Well here it simply has to be Adam Baldwin's performance when we finally see what happened to his baby in flashback and his present day "redemption" if you will. Stunning.

Blind Justice
(1994)

Mildly Entertaining Western
Nice little compact western with a good cast, but for me was just lacking that certain something that would make it shine. I'd give it 3 out of 5. Assante and Davi are good in the lead roles, Adam Baldwin provides great support along with Elizabeth Shue. Flashback scenes were a little annoying but aren't that long so it's a mild distraction.

Deadbolt
(1992)

Clever, Cunning, CHILLING!
The best movie I have seen in a long time, Deadbolt succeeds with an interesting plot, it's cleverness and the great performance of Adam Baldwin as the killer room-mate. Baldwin pulls off a performance which lets you take this stranger into your heart and your mind...bad mistake! You realize this as the story flows and gasp as you see the ease with which your life can be ended without dying. Some may say it's a rip-off of such films as Single White Female and Misery, while it is true it takes inspiration from these films, it really does stand on it's own two feet and if I may say...knocks the socks off Single White Female. This movie is ONE TO WATCH so as the tagline says... MAKE UP THE GUESTROOM, YOUR WORST NIGHTMARE HAS ARRIVED!

The Impossible Elephant
(2001)

Elephant-astic!
From the funny start to the heartwarming end, this movie breaks every stereo-type kid movie rule. The lead actors Nicholas Lea and Mia Sara are great and convincing in thier roles, and refreshingly so is the boy! There is some great wildlife in the movie and thats always nice too see, so all in all if you want a watchable heartwarming get-away movie then watch this...The Impossible Elephant (aka The Incredible Elephant in Europe). 10 out of 10!

Vertical Limit
(2000)

The Summit of Action!
This movie when reviewed by the critics, received either very good or very bad ratings, never in-between. The reason for this is that I think many people expected another 'Alive' when infact you should have expected every major action film ever made rolled into one. We start the film with it's only let down...a ridiculous CGI bird that looks like it's been painted on the screen by a four year old, but from there on it's a non-stop action ride with great stunts and atmosphere! As for the players...we have a great cast in this film, the only thing I would complain about is the fact that Chris O'Donnell was the lead, when clearly Nicholas Lea who plays Tom McLaren should have had it. Other than that all I can do is reflect what a lot of other people have realised...turn your brain off and enjoy the ride, and believe me you will enjoy it! Oh and great special fx apart from that silly bird at the start.

Once a Thief
(1996)

John Woo at his best!
What can I say?, I love this film, I love it! this is John Woo at his best. It combines a top notch cast of Actors including Nicholas Lea (X-Files), Ivan Sergei (Opposite of Sex), Sandrine Holt (Outer Limits) and Micheal Wong (A Better Tommorow) and such a brilliant original story-line! Buy this now, if you love action or comedy or not. BUY IT NOW!!!

American Boyfriends
(1989)

Low-budget, mildly entertaining
I brought this film to see my favorite actor, Nicholas Lea, but was left disappointed because he was only in two scenes. other than that the only reason I can see to watch this sequel to the smash hit Canadian film My American Cousin is if you have nothing better to do, it's not that bad but lacks any real plotline other than a few girls going on a car drive around California. Oh well, Maybe the sequel - My American Step-Mother will make a bigger impact - Ha Ha Ha!

The Raffle
(1994)

A lead role for Ratboy!
This low-budget Canadian film has a decent cast and original plotline but suffers badly from a very low budget ($2 Million). It is also Nicholas Lea's (The X-Files) first lead role in a film and he gives a brilliant performance as David Lake, he's also supported by a pretty good cast of Mark Hamill (Star Wars),Bobby Dawson (X-Files) and Jennifer Clement. The story is about a down on his luck wise-guy who has an idea to raffle a date with the most beautiful girl in the world, he brings his reluctant friends in on it and everything seems to be going well until the sceptic (namely women) jump in!

Xtro II: The Second Encounter
(1991)

For Nicholas Lea fans only!
This film is such a rip-off of Aliens that I'm sure they have broken some sort of Copyright! The only reason anyone would watch this is either to see Nicholas Lea or Jan-Micheal Vincent, other than that it's pretty much tripe! It tries to add some suspense but fails totally. Nicholas Lea does give a good solid performance as Baines but even he can't hold an entire film up. Avoid! Avoid! Avoid! at all costs.

The X Files
(1998)

The transformation to the BIG screen.
Before I go deeper in to this review I would like to say that people who say Fight the Future is the same as the television series are talking crap. I'm sorry but it is truly different, the special FX are much better than the tv series, the actors do a much better job (Which is helped by guests Martin Landau,Armin Mueller-Stahl and Jeffrey De Munn) and the story is far more eventful. I mean what do they have to do to get a good response from you people. Simply the X-Files Movie is an event film to reward long-time fans for their devotion and also to provide a good watchable film for non-series fans too. The story is as follows:- Mulder & Scully find evidence that the Syndicate are planning with the Aliens for a planned Armaggedon or to put it in Martin Landau's words "A Plague To End All Plague's", but as they get deeper into the conpiracy Scully gets kidnapped by the Cigarette Smoking Man and the shadowy Syndicate which then leads Mulder to follow them to the Antartic where they took Scully and save her from the Syndicate and the Aliens who are deadlier than ever, with an amazing ending sequence that will gain new fans its well worth a look. Fan or not. I know I'm going on a bit but I'd like to say that John Neville who plays the Well-Manicured Man gives what should be an Oscar winning performance for his few scenes. Nice One John!
