As a fan of television shows and movies that deal with the "What if?"/Alternate Universe type storylines, I found this movie very entertaining. The general story is that a man from the short term future (who was born on Nov. 22, 1963) invents a time machine to stop the Kennedy assassinations. The interesting thing about this movie, as compared to the hundred other similar stories about stopping the assassination is, they let the time traveler succeed. This story is truly a speculation of what may have happened it the Kennedy's were still alive.

While, granted, this film does present a somewhat idealistic view of what might have been, I was just thrilled that half the movie wasn't spent trying to "repair the change in the timeline". Overall, I must say that I really enjoyed this film. It really reminded me of the videogame "Re-Elect JFK" The only real downfall to me was that it was just too short -- I would have liked further speculation. Also, the timeline in this story jumped around a bit, but that was just the style of the writer, and, by the end of the movie, everything made perfect sense.

For fans of TMBG, the only problem with this movie was that it was just too short!

The recitations of TMBG lyrics by actors such as Andy Richter and Michael McKean were quite unexpected, but an interesting way to show what the director felt was the poignancy of the TMBG lyrics. I know in my case, I found the music so catchy when I first began to listen to TMBG, it took me a long time to realize just how different the lyrics are.

For those who enjoy indie groups, and are open to anything that isn't mainstream, this is a great movie to get an overview of TMBG. While it is a documentary on the band, it is not just a run of the mill biography. In fact, due to time constraints, some of the band's history is glazed over. The two stories vying for time are the production of the 2001 album "Mink Car" and the (then) 18 year history of the band. Thus, there isn't a whole lot of in-depth history telling here.

However, mainstream entertainment lovers might want to pass on this film. If you think that "Istanbul" was the only legitimate work TMBG has ever performed, don't "waste" your money - go see the latest action movie on the big screen. But, if you ever really liked to listen to a TMBG album, come back into the fold, and watch "Gigantic"

I picked up this movie just because it was rent one get one free, but I was immediately impressed by the film. Even after three viewings, I'm still not exactly sure what was real, and what was not.

Tim Roth plays a rich young man, Wayland, who the police have brought in for questioning, in regards to the murder of a prostitute (played by Renee Zellweger). He is soon hooked up to a lie detector machine, the prop around which the whole movie revolves. We soon find that Wayland is a pathological liar and an absinthe addict, but he is not the only one with a few secrets. His very questioners appear to have a few things to hide themselves.

Though it's not exactly a Hitchcockian psychological thriller (nor does it pretend to be), this movie is a good way to get on a nice cheap rollercoaster thrillride. It is a must-see for those who are really interested in scences of angst. Great job by Tim Roth.

Let's be honest, just by looking at the cast, you can tell that this is another cheesy science fiction B-movie. The special effects won't exactly knock your socks off, but they are not detrimental to the movie, an enjoyable one for a straight to video title.

The storyline is a just a new spin on the often used time travel story. Mark Hamill plays a soldier (Raynor) from the future. He is involved in a rebellion against aliens who have taken over earth. Of course, they look just like us, but don't feel pain, and are harder to kill. Just as his future earth is about to be doomed, Raynor travels back 30 years to prevent the aliens from ever coming to power. One major complication is the fact that he is to be born in just a few days, which leads to two problems.

1) If the aliens find out about him, the baby Raynor/his mother could easily be killed, hence, causing the 30 yr. old Raynor to cease to exist.

2) Only one Raynor can exist in any timeline.

Perhaps a little formulaic, and not an Academy Award candidate, this movie is good for some mindless fun. It's a must-see for any Mark Hamill fan, as Mr. Hamill played a character more than 10 years his junior admirably.

I'll admit it, I simply saw this movie because I'm a Bill Pullman fan. However, as a child of the 80's, I found it quite amusing. It's definately a film for 3am.

The movie is in the same vein as Spaceballs, and numerous other 80s satires, though this film seems not have had nearly the mainstream appeal. Basically, its a spoof of "The Hunt for Red October", intermixed with minor spoofs on other action films. A couple of interesting cameos are from Roddy McDowall as Mr. Friendly (a Mr. Rogers sort of character) and Michael Winslow, forever remembered as the sound guy from the "Police Academy" movies.

This movie was entertaining for me, but I fear that a few of the jokes might not translate as well for those from outside of America. However, if you're a fan of Bill Pullman and the Mel Brooks' type of satire (though he was uninvolved in this production), you really need to check this film out!

One of the better movies that one can accidentally stumble upon on late night cable, Brain Dead was an early film for Bill Pullman and Bill Paxton.

The film starts simply enough, with Bill Pullman as a doctor, Rex Martin, who specializes in research on the human brain. A friend and co-worker, played by Bill Paxton, wishes the good doctor to help him get some information (The Numbers) out of an accountant, played by Bud Cort. Unfortunately, the accountant has gone insane, and the only way to get the information is through brain surgery, which will likely leave the man brain dead.

Dr. Martin refuses, and from then on, it is hard to tell what's real until the end of the movie. There is a series of contradictory events, which leads Dr. Martin questioning his own health & sanity. Though not necessarily a shocking ending, if you've seen enough 80s sci-fi/horror, "Brain Dead" is a particularly enjoyable film which you've likely never seen.

In the era of silent comedies, the man who was 2nd only to Charlie Chaplin was not Buster Keaton, but Harold Lloyd. Though he has since been mostly forgotten, except by film historians (who reluctantly list him automatically as the third great silent comedian behind Keaton and Chaplin), Lloyd's is still remembered for his clock sequence in Safety Last. More recently, this has been reproduced in "Back to the Future" and "Shanghai Knights".

However, it is not just the skyscraper sequence that makes this film special. Harold portrays his usual go-getter self, as his character moves to the city and tries to become a successful businessman, in order to impress his girlfriend. Along the way, there are many amusing mishaps, which conclude with the aforementioned skyscraper sequence. Quite magical in its silence, as compared to the later remake, also by Lloyd, "Feet First".

Highly recommended for silent film fans, and anyone wanting to get a taste of the genre.

This movie is a great diversion for the sci-fi movie buff. It has James Spader, a spaceship, and a mysterious device of alien origin - what more do you need? Though rather predictable, the special effects alone are worth the price of admission.

I bought this game just because it was "X-Files" - boy was I pleasantly suprised. The video in this game is great, and the game is addictive! I played it for 5 straight hours one night. For those who love videogames, but aren't very skilled, there is an easy skill level on the PSX version - highly recommended.

This video game/movie is one of the best games, if not the best, that I have ever played. It is made up of such famous actors as Malcolm McDowell & Mark Hamill & the movie footage makes you just want to keep playing the game over & over

Though I felt some trepidition in shelling out money to see this movie, I found this movie to be an entertaining work. I was especially dumbfounded to find that all the songs were sung - not lip-synched. Additionally, the writers should be congratulated on a magnificent story.

Though I was momentarily unsure if this film would live up to its potential, this movie was quite entertaining. My only difficulty with the film is its make-up department. I simply have a problem when grey hair is the only hint of a person aging 15 years

Arlington Road was a complete thrill-fest. I originally thought this would be a normal Hollywood action-flick, but this movie has incredible winding twists and turns. This unpredictable movie is a must see.

Though I originally was unsure of renting this movie, it was well worth the money. Though the movie appears not to be anything special, it is an especially sweet, though at times trite, movie. A great date movie.
