Yours, Mine & Ours
(2005)

Old song, new singers!!!
CONTAINS SPOILERS!!! Frank is lonely father of 8 children. His wife has passed away. Helen is lonely mother of 10 children and she doesn't have husband. He has died. Frank and Helen used to be lovers during their hight-school years and on the edge to get married. For some reason, which is never explained in the movie, it just didn't happen. And here they are - years later they meet and after few hours together this slept love wakes up and another few hours later they are married. No ceremony, no wedding, no asking the children.

On the next day they tell the news to their children, and then gather them. So, what happens in Hollywood movie when two lonely parents get married and then get their kids together? They start fighting of course, they are totally incompatible. Have you got the picture so far? Then after some time of fighting the kids decide that they can't live this way (together) and they have to do something about it cuz the elders don't care and they start and create and execute plans make the lovers fight and split up. This way everything would be back as it was. And what happens when all these fighting brothers and sisters finally unite in favour of this great mission? A bond is slowly formed between them until they actually end up loving and respecting each other - like a real family.

But while this is happening all these devilish plans give result and the lovers are about to go on their separate ways once again. But wait! This is comedy and the ending must be happy. And of course the mischievous children, which are alredy strong and loving team, realize that they have to "fix" the mess. Do I have to tell more? END OF SPOILERS In general, the story is to shallow and at some points undeveloped as well as the characters. Those of the kids are too stereotipical - mindless little creatures for the younger ones and nasty evil brats for the teens. Of course the many clichés aren't something to be left unmentioned. Every scene's outcome could be easily predicted cuz it doesn't divert too much from the famous patterns.

Still, there must be some good things in it. It's the actors' performances. Dennis Quaid and Renne Russo did their best but obviously couldn't have done much considering the lame plot. Some of the child actors also did good job.

4/10

Shi mian mai fu
(2004)

Generally very good, but the romance is not good enough.
S P O I L E R S ! ! ! ---------------------

I finally saw it yesterday. Generally I liked it. I've not seen an action movie which grabs my mind so strong for a long time.

The fight scenes were perfect as well as the actors' performances, the directing, the cinematography. The score is wonderful and in some way it tells the story. The visual effects are fine and those slow motions that are used very often look very good and have strong enough effect.

However I didn't like the love story and more specific the twist. It had a very good beginning, it developed very well in the middle but this twist... Well it somehow didn't fit the rhythm. I liked how the two main characters slowly fell in love with each other and how this love slowly gets stronger and stronger. But this twist - that everything was a game, the fact that this girl has been in love with the other guy (the police captain) for 3 years. This twist somehow ruined its climax.

Oh, and the sex scenes were out of any ethic. They looked sort of violent.

The Aviator
(2004)

Very good but it's not that type of movies I like
OK, I like Martin Scorsese's movies and I very much respect his work at all. I saw 'The Aviator' last night. Here is the place where I must admit that I don't like history and I am totally unaware of Howard Hughes's biography or any facts about him. In fact (it could sound like a joke to someone but...) I first heard and found out about that name (Howard Hughes) from this movie. So I can't tell whether this is close to the history or not.

I liked the directing and especially the acting. I don't like DiCaprio very much but I must admit that he is an awful good actor. Scorsese did a great job. I'm a big aviation lover and I enjoyed the flight scenes.

However it's not the type of movies I like. That's why I've seen it only once.

Innerspace
(1987)

Great Movie
I've heard some people to call 80s 'The Golden Era' and now after I saw this again after so many years I realized why. One of the greatest Sci-Fi movies were produced during this 'era' and even if you see them now again they will still keep you excited. I haven't seen this one long time ago (more than 10 years). I still remember how much amazed I was when I first saw it. I saw it so many times after that and I was enjoying it each time while I was watching it.

You can see the movies like this one these days. There weren't technologies which they could use to create such effects. That's why they (the effects) were just a part from the story and they weren't as many as they're in todays movies. The movies were so good because they were done with a real imagination.

Now the story some how stays like a background for the effects. They're doing movies which are rather like 3D PC games. They aren't interesting stories and they aren't cool characters. Effects only.

A Gentleman's Game
(2002)

It doesn't follow the usual movies' patterns.
I bought this on DVD (actually there isn't any other way to see this). As I expected the DVD turned out to be without region protection, despite the information in most of on-line stores where's written 'region 1'.

About the movie, it turned out to be a very good movie. It is done unlike other movies you can see these days. The makers have putted a piece of creativity into it. It doesn't follow the regular movies' patterns and that's what I liked into it. After you'v seen hundreds of movies with a very common features you'll be happy to see something different, something new.

The transaction between most of scenes seems a bit chaotic, but it has a very specific order if you look carefully. Until i was watching it somehow reminded me a bit for '21 Grams', where the scenes and the plot were like a puzzle. Absolutely chaotic, but this one isn't like a puzzle. It's got very good soundtrack by the way.

I liked the performances by the actors in the cast, but i was amazed by Mason Gamble's performance. I'v seen him only in 'Dennis The Menace'. He certainly has a future as an adult actor.

The Butterfly Effect
(2004)

One of the best interpretation of this effect
I had a chance to see it last night and i liked it. I haven't seen such a good movie about this subject and i think it's right to be titled "The Butterfly Effect".

What could happen if you go back in time and change something in your past. You will ruin it (the past). In the most of movies i'v seen the main character just changing some specific event in his past and that way he fixes his entire life, without ruin others past. In this one, that effect is shown more deeply. Evan (the main character) changes his past, but that way he ruins others past and his own at some point.

I had an impression that Ashton Kutcher actually is a very bad actor (after i saw "Cheaper By The Dozen"), but after i saw his performance, it make me doubt if he is that bad.

I, Robot
(2004)

Nothing new at all
Well, i saw it and i was expecting to see something new, it turned out to be nothing much than old and dusty story.

I'll begin from Will Smith's character. Police officer (detective), survived something in the past, (something terrible) which keeps bother him. He always thinks about it and has dreams about it. He is single and lives alone. The loser in his job, where everyone thinks he's crazy, suffering from paranoia, but despite all this he is crazy, a boss's best friend (favorite guy) and has his bless (protection). He is the only one who sees the real problem, but no one believes him (until the end). I'v seen this guy (character) in so many movies.

The robots: artificial serves, designed to protect people also, but all connected to one super intelligent system (AI), which at some point realizes that humans are already unnecessary (or something). I'v seen it in at least 12 other movies. I'll admit that right after i heard that all these new robots are connected to that kind of intelligent system i figured how it gonna end, and i was right.

There is a couple more things that i could mention, but i have no more time.

Now to say something about what i liked. It was Will Smith's performance, the robot (Sunny) and directing at some point.

It's pointless to comment about visual effects.

Cheaper by the Dozen
(2003)

Very good.
Despite of all my expectations i liked this one. When i first saw the trailer and after i saw first ratings here i left with impression, that it is just the next movie for bunch of wild kids and their pranks (i'v never seen the 50's version nor i read the book, so i will not compare this one with them). I didn't even intend to go and see it. I went in the theatre, cuz i had nothing else to do and i finally saw it (two weeks after it was released).

It was very good surprise for me. I realized that it is very good and very funny family movie. My opinion about it just turned at 180 degrees in 20 minutes. Then i saw it gain next day, and again, and again... As much as i watched it i liked it more.

Great performances by all kids especially by Forrest Landis.

Secret Window
(2004)

Not a good twist
It was good movie until "the twist", when the main character (i forgot his name) realizes the true. I am agree that most of thrillers has some unexpected twist somewhere at the end, but this one some how didn't fit for this story.

When i bought my ticket i wasn't quite enthusiastic to watch it, but because of Johnny Depp i went in theatre. A friend of mine who seen it before me, told me not to expect something really good. For a moment i thought "He is wrong", but until the end.

That's why i rated it 7 out of 10.

The Last Samurai
(2003)

Brilliant
I went at theater with expectation that i will not see something very nice, but i was wrong. This movie is perfect, especially the moments when Nathan (main character) is in the village. There was a one line from Nathan's monologue in which he "talks" about there is something spiritual around that village. I thing there is really something spiritual in those scenes.

The music is also great. I didn't know that the same guy who did music for "Gladiator" actually made a music for this one.

Home Alone 3
(1997)

Why they named it "Home Alone"?
I can't understand why anyone compares this "Home Alone" with previous two movies. I can't even understand why they named it "Home Alone" at all. This one has nothing common with first and second movie, except that first and this one are set in same town. The story is entirely different, the boy's family is different.

Exactly as first and second "Home Alone" main character - 8 years old Alex has to stop four criminals to complete their mission, but this time they are four instead 2. They are international criminals from very high rang. They have high tech equipment, they are very well trained and with huge experience. As you can see in some moments their work is perfect. They don't left any traces. They are not just some local idiots like in first two movies. The 8 years old Alex is not just forgotten from his family like first "Home Alone". He is left alone in the house, cuz he is sick.

Entire story looks more real and authentic. This is entirely different story and as i mentioned i can't understand why they named that "Home Alone". First two movies are great, but this one is better and it shouldn't be compare with previous, cuz it is not like them. This is not sequel for first and second movie. This is new story, new movie. I knew that before i saw it and that's why i wasn't disappointed from this one. I liked it very much, even more than "Home Alone" 1 and 2.

Mystic River
(2003)

Finally to see something good in this year.
I'll try to be short. This is the best movie i'v seen so far. Probably it will be the film of the year. This is the first really beautiful movie for this not so rich year. A year of pirates, almightyes, matrixes, mutants, angels, daredevils, terminators, extraordinaryes... and so. Lots of fights, bullets, cascades and so. And after all that action, finally we saw something truly emotional and beautiful. One real drama. This is a story about, friendship, dead, anger and revenge. A story about fatality. I think that we will not see something like this one soon as i looking on what movies should came up until the end of this year and the next one.

Down with Love
(2003)

Good in general, but at moments is like typical soap opera
I saw it last night. I knew Ewan McGregor and Renée Zellweger are in it and i thought about "Moulin Rouge!" and "Chicago", and then i thought this one is suppose to be as good as previous two movies i mentioned.

It was good, but not at all. It was great in the beginning, until the moment when that book began famous around the world. After that it was predictable and the end was boring. The romance was much more than it was necessary. They was talking something about equality between sexes, but i saw "anti-equality" in it. Am i right? A friend of mine who saw it with me said that whole movie is one huge female dream and i'm agree.

Mimic 2
(2001)

Wasted money...
I toke it from local video rent on DVD and i wasted my money. The first one was better. It wasn't very good, but better than this one.

First of all the story was pretty unclear, the characters was flat, the picture was bad. Entire story is focused in one room, school and very small street. The dialog was flat (even worse than a soap opera). Same things i can say about acting to. It wasn't clear enough why those creatures chasing lead character (i forgot her name), why they killed all her past boyfriends, what did it want from her? Questions, questions and questions without answers.

Daddy Day Care
(2003)

Not so bad
Well, i saw it yesterday for firsth time. It wasn't so bad as i expected. Today i'll watch it again. Just another story about couple parrents which cares more for theyr jobs than theyr own children and family. There was very funny moments and characters. Like that kid who wants a 1$ every time and the boy with red suit. I gave it 7/10 cuz it is predictable. At the middle i knew how it will end.

Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl
(2003)

Very good surprize
Firsth thing i thought when i first heard when about this movie was that this will be just a usual action. Action like those we watches every week. I saw many movies for pirates before. When i firsth saw it... It was much better than i expected. I gave it 8/10 cuz it was predictable at moments. Fight scenes mostly, and some of them was too long (that scene with Will and Jack in Will's working place for example). Music was excellent.

Tom & Thomas
(2002)

Much better, that i expected
When i first learned about this movie i thought that it will be just next stupid story about two separate twins (kids) and i didn't take it seriously enough. Few moths later i saw some DVD captures from it and i did a little research. After i saw all comments here, ratings and stuff, i decided to buy it.

After i saw it, i was very surprised. I knew that it's good movie, but it was much better than i expected. Acting, music, story ... everything was perfect.

Last night, a friend of mine, came to my place and we saw it together. This morning, he came again and told me that he liked it so much that he even dreamed about it.
