Qué buena está mi ahijada
(1987)

Light fare, middling sex comedy with two major pluses.
The year is 1987, the much reviled genre of the "mexican sexicomedia" was bringing in the cash while the Mexican movie critics scoffed. In this light fare we the the maddening obsession of a godfather (Julio Aldama) with his god daughter (The amazingly curvaceous Lina Santos). While this is going on a local farmhand Odilon (Alberto Rojas) also has an eye for Santos character but has zero courage to approach her. His own godfather (a nice turn by veteran Roberto Guzman),catches him spying on his luscious aunt (veteran vedette Rossy Mendoza) and takes him to brothels so the lad can get some carnal experience. There's an underlying crime story as out of towner (Alfonso Munguia) also falls in love with Santo's character. The movie mixes mystery, lust and funny bits to bring a pretty complete product. The quality of the good looking women is quite high. Along with Santos and Mendoza, veteran Wanda Seux and statuesque Yirah Aparicio round out the amazing female cast. Worth having in your sexycomedia collection. Lina Santos has to be one of the most beautiful women to grace he Silver screen.

Los aboneros del amor
(1990)

Disappointing "sexycomedia"
Be very careful when you see this at your favorite store it can be deceiving. The cover features Abril Campillo in a very sexy maid outfit and Manuel "Flaco" Ibanez resting Jacaranda Alfaro's bosom. Neither lady appears nude at all, and although the bevy of women in this movie is on the high end for the genre the sex is implicit and the humor non existent. Of note is one of the early appearances of Viki Palacios in this she had no surgery and looks quite good in her undies in a sexy scene. The movie fails also because although the situations of "Flaco" Ibanez as a local" "bycicle vendor" who tries to cheat on his wife pretend to end in sex or be funny, they are neither.

For all I know the original VHS version might be uncut, since I have been alerted that many sexycomedia's DVDs have been edited from the parent VHS sources. Buyer beware, and you be better served to skip this movie altogether.

Chelo Gómez, detective privado
(1990)

A so-so sexy comedy
This is another installment in my series of Mexican "sexycomedy reviews". In this 1990 movie: Luis de Alba and Lucila Mariscal are two P.I.'s trying to spy on some rich businessman (Gaston Padilla) and prove that he is cheating on his wife with the voluptuous Blanca Nieves. Of note is the appearance of a young Alfonso Zayas Jr. (much better looking than his dad, but also less talented). The move is not really funny, it looks to be done with a minuscule budget, and it really only tries to show Blanca Nieves better than average body. Yes my friends, she appears nude in two shower scenes and topless in a rather unerotic scene with her boyfriend/crime partner. Only watch if you want to see Blanca Nieves nude, if you want laughs...please leave it on the shelf.

Los verduleros II
(1987)

One of the better sexy comedies of the 80s
This movie has something for everyone who likes the sexy comedy genre. Again our hero is Alfonso Zayas who is trying to foil the plans of a deranged killer (Hugo Stiglitz) and a punk gang leader (Roberto Ballesteros). Along with his band of undercover goof balls... I mean cops: Luis De Alba, Maribel Fernandez, Rene Ruiz (TUN TUN) and Cesar Bono; they try to put and end to the kidnappings and gory killing that for some reason are always part of these movies. As for eye candy in comes is the shapely Yirah Aparicio, who has two very good sex scenes and the always amazing Lina Santos who in this movie was just 24 years old and performs a striptease for Zayas, as usual Santos strips to a pair of tiny light blue bra and panties...but gosh!!! What a body!!!. By far the best scene of the movie. Do they catch the killer? Does Zayas finally settle down with Lina's character? Well you'll have to watch. It's worth it.

Los verduleros 3
(1992)

Another pretty good sexy comedy
I know, I know it has been almost a year since I reviewed one of the famous sexy comedy's that graced or disgraced (depending on where you stand) Mexican Cinema. This one feature veteran comedian Alfonso Zayas playing a cop that must foil the devilish plan of an escaped convict who decides to take revenge on the cops that jailed him. The way he kills them is rather gory for a comedy but effective. Zayas, as usual finds consolation to his hard work by finding a secret admirer (the always pretty Rosario Escobar) and in the arms of a fellow cop (Michaelle Mayer). Both get quite nude to Zayas delight. We also have a side story of a down on her luck wife (the voluptuous Jacaranda Alfaro) and how she gets mixed with a drug ring while trying to keep her son safe. Comedians Cesar Bono and Rene Ruiz (Tun Tun) also play cops and keep things light hearted. Not bad movie, cheesy laughs, a semi serious side story and lots of nudity. Alfonso Zayas already 50 in this movie, must be the luckiest man in Mexican film history.

Hot Times
(1974)

A nice little piece of Americana and the precursor to Porky's
Let's call a spade a spade, "Hot Times" is campy, a bit over the top, with gross jokes, lots of female nudity and bad mid 1970s haircuts. And yet when I watched this on Cinemax back in the 1980s and felt that is was almost hardcore, now I realize it was just a little piece Americana that showed what some kids were really doing in the mid 1970s in the East coast. It can be called a parody of the "Archie" comic book series, but it slightly changes the names, and although the jokes are dated and, only one member of the cast has actually had a decent film career, it is not as pretentious as "Porky's", "H.O.T.S" and "Preppies". Ther plot revolves about the sexual happening of one Archie Anders who, has great looking classmates and screwup best friends in his high school. The home life is not much better with rigid parents, and sleeping in with the older sister, who is a nag,but as we find out later has quite a body. The movie is tongue in cheek and not as over the top as many would have reviewed back in the day.The jokes are actually funny, and those who lived back then could relate. Worth a look, I even got a copy from a local store in its original huge VHS box. Thumbs up!

Bewitched Housewives
(2007)

Great movie because of...
Well this is another one of those late Cinemax movies featuring Beverly Lynne and Nicole Sheridan in lead roles...had enough of those? As usual they engage in girl-girls scenes. Also veteran Alexis Bousvert (Nicole's real life husband) and Evan Stone play the usual good guy-bad guy roles. The plot has Beverly Lynne traveling in time escaping repression from a righteous Quaker pilgrim...yes sir that is your basic premise!! Yeesh. Beverly Lynne looks a bit older in this one but quite pretty, Nicole Sheridan does not do it for me anymore.

The reason the grade of the movie goes up, is the scorching appearance of redhead sexpot Rebecca Love, who plays her vixen character to a tee and gives us two very good scenes. Also of note, is a scene with an uncredited Kennedy Johnston who looks adorable and quite comfortable in a short but very good sex scene.

It is your run of the mill movie, with a thin plot, but the two aforementioned ladies, make it a worthwhile look.

Lust Connection
(2005)

Very good for its genre
I will say this much about this movie it ranks high in its genre. For one of the Cinemax/showtime late night feature is really good. Why? Glori Anne Gilbert and Julie K. Smith. Even though pushing or already at age 40, they have more sensuality in their pinky finger than most of the so called adult movie divas of today. Sure the plot is trite and done over a lot, but the movie is erotic and Frank Harper is lucky enough to work with women like this for a living. The plot is of a man whose wife (Glori Anne Gilbert) is murdered by a former online fling. Harper then needs to work (and I mean work) his way to find the killer. In the process the wife's twin sister comes in to help. My god!! If you are fan of the genre you will love it.

Narcosatanicos diabolicos
(1991)

Sexy comedy of another time
My vote comes strictly in the genre of sexy comedy not the overall quality. I'll be reviewing a few of these since they are selling everywhere and people need to be informed. This movie is set in 1991 in Mexico and it finds veteran comedy actor Alfonso Zayas playing a pact with the devil, which he must keep by having sex with a bevy of women. The women are on the higher end of the sexy comedy genre: Rosario Escobar is lithe and quite pretty, Jacaranda Alfaro is busty and has a womanly body (both show their attributes quite a bit). Lina Santos is oustanding and here's where the spoiler comes in. Santos a former local beauty queen, will parade in nighties and skimpy bikinis, but absolutely no nude or topless scenes. She made that deal early in her career. The plot is actually not bad as Zayas delivers some laughs, and Roberto Ballesteros who plays Santos character's husband is playing his usual devilish foil. This was perhaps the last well known sexy comedy that showed lots of nudity, after 1992, the sex would be implicit and the women kept their clothes on, as the powers to be in the Mexican cinema industry wanted to legitimatize the industry. Yet sexy comedies since their inception in the mid 1960s remain as popular as ever.

The Last American Virgin
(1982)

A movie for its time
I don't think I will include any spoilers but If I do, I can cover my butt. "The Last American Virgin" came in a time were such teenage coming of age/high school sex romps were the rave. Films such as "Prepies" (1984), "Hot Times" (1974) and the popular "Porky's " (1981) were making mucho money. Yet it is the "Last American Virgin" the one that actually has a more serious plot story amidst the nudity and sexual situations. It is the often told tale of three high school buddies who want to lose their virginity. The go to the wrong places (prostitutes), the dangerous ones (older woman with jealous boyfriend) and the convenient ones (luring their high school female counterparts). The movie has a lot of funny moments, and although the cast did not produce a single major movie star, it is worth remembering for a fantastic 80's soundtrack that includes: Devo, The Cars, Journey and others. By today standards is raunchy and might have grabbed a NC-17 rating, but is a well told story of how sometimes personal fixation can only bring pain, while love might be right in front of us. It is a little piece of 80s Americana and worth having in your movie collection.

They're Playing with Fire
(1984)

A Sybil Danning sensual tour-de-force
Since her start in the late 1960's, Sybil Danning has been called upon to use her sensuality and statuesque physique to bail out many a "B" movie. No exception here, as the stunning Danning plays a college professor/seductress. The victim is gullible Eric Brown (who's acting abilities resemble those of a 4th grader). The highlight of this movie is the seduction of Brown by Danning in the yacht. Great camerawork and Danning's sensuality in her strip give a scorching rating to a scene that will be relived in the minds of red-blooded males. Her other sex scenes were Brown are equally erotic but that is as good as it gets with this movie. The plot is predictable and the suspense...well...is just not there. A must for all Danning fans though, so you can drool at the sensual charms of this erotic goddess who seems to have saved the face of many an aspiring "B" movie director with her presence.

The Pig Keeper's Daughter
(1972)

A hidden gem of sexploitation
Harry Novak, brings us a obscure but entertaining tale of the coming of age of a farmer's daughter (Moonbean) a red-head, busty country bumpkin who is the town's whore. She is constantly spied on by her younger sister Pretty Patty (Peggy Church) who masturbates after seeing her sister's sexual encounters. The ladies in this movie are all on the voloptuos side, it is a soft core but in any decade it would have gotten an X-rating, the sex scenes are that explicit. The lucky guy is Jasper who gets to do all the ladies in the movie, including a hard to believe overdeveloped 15 year old hitchhiker, (who would make any guys quickie hall of fame). The movie has erotic moments, and is funny, a keeper if you ever get a copy of it.

Game of Death
(1978)

Saving the best for last
Don't be misguided by my tag line, but the last 15 or 20 minutes of this movie are worth of keeping Bruce Lee fighting Kareem Abdul Jabbar in the pagoda is a thing of beauty, the stand ins and an overclothed and irritating Collen Camp are laughable and unnecessary. Check out Sammo Hung in one of his early appearances."Bruce's" fight scene with Bob Wall is vastly underrated. Not a bad movie.

Si wang ta
(1980)

An amusing film
This movie is not as bad as people say, the fight scenes are believable, and the music is pretty good. The stand-ins are ridiculous, but hey they where typical of post- Bruce Lee movies. There's even a little nudity in this one for skin fans, but overall a decent film, not better than any of Bruce's though.

Meng long guo jiang
(1972)

This is his best
I had the pleasure and owning Bruce's movies for the last 14 years, and this is his best. The scene with Chuck Norris is a battle for the ages, the end of the fight itself is a solemn and erriely prophetic passing of the torch. Bruce uses great cinematography, a decent plot and action packed fight scenes in different settings, and against a plethora of foes. I have always admired Bruce as a fighter and as a person, this is his best work. Bruce I wish you were still with us.

The Big Snatch
(1971)

A chockful of violence and eroticism
Without a doubt one of the most obscure and underrated movies of all cult movies. If you ever get a copy of it keep it. Nobody wanted to be associated with this movie (as you will notice from the hilarious credits)but for Peggy Church and Uschi Digart it was an opportunity to land more exploitation roles in the future. The acting is atrocious, the women are all very good looking, especially Digart who was only 19 at the time, and believe me they don't make them like her anymore. The movie is funny because is so bad, but a couple of the scenes rank high in eroticism specially the ones with Uschi ( I doubt any warm blooded man can resist her charm and accent), the camera work is very good, and the reason why I like this movie is because is fast paced, corny to a fault, and dated, but still a gem of exploitation or soft-core and will give many men out there hours of viewing pleasure.

Supervixens
(1975)

One to watch!!
Charles Napier gives perhaps his best performance as a rugged (but impotent) cop. Russ Meyer does an incredible job of casting and editing that is up to par with his movies, the plot is a lot more elaborate and serious that some of earlier work ("Faster pussycat, kill, kill" comes to mind). The women are amazing; the sexy Haji playing ball-buster barkeep, Shari Eubanks, impressive as the neglected wife, and sexy seductress, and who can't help to fall in love with the wondrous Swedish beauty Uschi Digart who plays a mail order bride. A movie that is brash and funny, and although deserving of an X rating for the recurrent show of backsides and bosoms, definetely tongue in cheek in at its other aspects.
