  • A prime example on how a bad casting can destroy a movie

What can you say about The Wiz? It's boring, and that has to be the worst thing a movie should be. Even worse, when you consider you have Michael Jackson and Richard Pryor on board, plus what seems to be infinite money, and New York City as a backdrop. I had to forece myself to watch it and it wasn't a nice experience at all.

But I believe, the worst thing about the whole show has to be Diana Ross.

The Wizard of Oz with a 6 year old is believable as a figment of a child's imagination. With a 13 year old may be a stretch, but with Judy Garland, it's such a pleasure. With a 34 year old playing a 24 year old, it's a mess. Diana Ross never had a worst actng moment in her career. I struggle to think of any actor on a major motion picture acting as bad as she did. She spends the entire movie moping, worried, or displaying such a massive amount of insecurity it's uncomfortable.

Her ego destroyed what was left of what could have been a pasable movie. What a shame.

  • The kind of wonder you thought Disney had eviscerated from Star Wars

After the amazing disaster The Acolyte was, I had zero interest in watching anything Star Wars related. I thought Disney had killed the franchise for good with its aimless direction.

    Was I wrong.

Skeleton Crew is everything Star Wars was when I was a kid, in a brand new package. The best thing I can say about it is that it's not Star Wars, and this is such a good thing. Disney seems to have learned from the epic disaster its trilogy was, and its latest series. Somebody really thought about what made Star Wars tick, and turned everything up to 11.

This is a whole new Star Wars. It's actually nothing like the Star Wars of my childhood. And we are so much better off because of it.

Bring on the new stories, and make the sequel trilogy (and the Acolyte) non-canon.

  • It's not a bad movie. It's a bad Marvel movie

The new Captain America simply doesn't work as a lead. Anthony Mackie may try and try but there are certain actors that work amazingly well in a supporting role - and he's one of them. There's nothing wrong with his acting, it's just that for whatever reason he can't carry a whole movie by himself -as the new Captain America.

As a political thriller, the movie works better. It's entertaining and there's not much more to be said about it.

But as a Marvel movie - you really need to have done your homework to understand it. Watching Secret wars, The Marvels, Wakanda Forever, the original Hulk movie, the last two Avengers, Falcon and the Winter Soldier, She-Hulk - may help. But I did and I couldn't catch all references and stories.

So in the end it feels like a boring test you have to study for, and not an exciting new Marvel movie.
