Pirates of Silicon Valley
(1999)

A very entertaining film
I saw this movie the other day on TV. It was something I thought might be interesting so I stayed w/ it for a few minutes. Before I knew it I had watched the entire thing. It really sucked me in. I thought the film was very well done with some interesting direction. The characters come out of character on occasion and talk to us. I especially liked the scene where Gates is first pitching to IBM. You won't believe the number of times you shake your head and smile thinking "If these people only knew..."

Definitely worth a rent!

The Girl in a Swing
(1988)

Meg gets nude
As the other reviews have stated, this is a somewhat dull film. The pace and dialogue are a bit much - or little- depending on your point of view. The big question though; does Meg Tilly get naked? Answer - Yes!!! That's about the most logical reason I can find to rent this one. Happy viewing...

Running on Empty
(1988)

Why do we continue to make heros out of criminals?
I remember seeing this film on HBO back in the late 80s. It was praised as some sort of masterpiece. The main adult characters in the movie are criminals who used violence and deadly force in attempting to accomplish their goal of hastening the end of the Viet Nam War. A bit ironic, I would say.

The problem here is that these two who are placed upon a pedestal by the film makers, are criminals; felons; murderers. That doesn't even matter. All we are to care about is their intentions, not the actions or the outcome. This is the fallacy of Liberalism in a nutshell.

"It's OK to bomb a building because we don't like what's going on inside."

"You can't blame us for someone dying because we didn't MEAN to kill them."

No accountability. Of course, they do have to pay for their actions and thus it can be argued there IS accountability, but the problem here is the context in which it's presented. We are made to sympathise with those who have committed the wrongs and feel anger at those who were attacked and who call for accountability.

Sounds all too familiar...

The Real Blonde
(1997)

Bridget Wilson Is HOT!!!
This is an OK movie. Nothing great, but worth a look if it's on cable. The real reason to watch this is to see the GORGEOUS Bridget Wilson. She is one of the most beautiful women in the world today. She even shows a VERY SHORT glimpse of one breast!! Check her out!

The Rage: Carrie 2
(1999)

Don't Watch This!!!
This was a REALLY bad idea! It was basically the same movie as the first one except the Amy Irving character was around trying to save the day. It needed some nudity! There were a few really good looking girls in there, but they don't show enough to make it worth watching. Also, the lead character of Rachel was sort of strange looking. She wasn't believable as the love interest of the cool, good looking football player. Not Cute!

**Spoiler - sort of**

Watch the Zach Ty Brian character in the party scene near the end. All the players on the team had shaved their heads, but he keeps a hat on the whole time hiding the fact that he obviously wouldn't shave his head...

Denial
(1998)

Funny - Don't watch it w/ your wife...
This was a good movie. My wife and I watched it together. She kept quizzing me on the premise of the movie - even though we have a great marriage and I've never even though of cheating. She was smiling so I think it's no big deal.

As for the characters, you'll hate Jonathan Silverman's wife! The chick from the hockey game looks to have real breasts! What a novel idea in Hollywood! OK nudity - let's face it, that's why you're reading this, looking for the scoop on the skin. Not much from the main characters, though. You do see Amy Yasbek in a see through purple top. Not great but hey, better than nothing.

Worth a rent. It's funny.

Volcano
(1997)

Only one reason to watch this
I must admit, I watched this because of Gabby Hoffmann. She is Tommy Lee Jones' daughter. VERY CUTE!! Now, she does look like a slob through out most of this, but still, you can tell how cute she is. See her in Woody Alen's Everyone Says I love You. That's about it for this one. Lame plot, OK acting, nice scenery...

Southie
(1998)

A good surprise
I rented this movie because I read the box too quickly and thought it starred Marc Wahlburg, not Donnie. When I got it home my wife asked me who Donnie was and I realized my mistake. However, I was very pleased with my mistake. This was a very good movie. A real family, good vs. bad and even small time mob interests. No nudity for those interested in that sort of thing.

Rose McGowen's acting was very good. Also, she looks gorgeous even when she's made up to look like a white trash alcoholic. The characters' accents do sometimes slip in and out with the exception of Donnie who is from Boston in real life.

All in all, it was a very good movie.

Kinjite: Forbidden Subjects
(1989)

Worth it for Nicole alone!
OK, this isn't the best movie ever made, but it does have some positive qualities. Nicole Eggert has a medium to small size part, but looks GREAT! This was the stage of her career where she looked the very best; long before the Gen-X style took her over and she got those ridiculous breast implants. Amy Hathaway is also in this movie as Charles Bronson's daughter. She is very beautiful - though a bit young in this. Don't take it too seriously and enjoy the eye candy!
