Eye of the Beholder
(1999)

The Worst Movie Ever
For the first time in recent memory, I really had to struggle to sit through an entire movie. Usually, just for the simple fact that I paid my money, I endure the whole thing. This time though, if it had not been for the fact that I was not alone, I would have got up and left.

This was appallingly bad. Every single little plot twist was absurd. There was no flow to the story. It was just one ridiculous event after another.

How did this movie even get made?

The Hurricane
(1999)

Very Disappointing
To everyone who has raved about this movie. I challenge you to look up the facts about the case, and by that I mean, not just Rubin Carter's version of the story. Carter was a much more complex man than the story shows. That isn't saying much, since every single character is completely one dimensional.

We as an audience would have been much better served, if he would have been portrayed as a real person, instead of a saint. Every possible negative was left out, leaving us with an unrealistic, one sided, portrait of human nature.

From the boxing matches, to the final verdict, the movie twists the truth for "dramatic" purposes. I think maybe that means the movie going public can't be counted on to shell out dollars for a more honest, less palatable story?

As a side note, the most ridiculous character is that of the villain. There is one scene where he pops up almost like the bad guy in a Scooby Doo episode. Just pretend the "Canadians" are those "kids".

What could have been potentially great, rings hollow.

Go rent Raging Bull.

Any Given Sunday
(1999)

Tennis anyone?
I'd rather watch an Arena Football league game, than this sensationalistic nonsense.

There was this guy a few rows behind me who cheered and clapped after touchdowns. I wanted to turn and around and explain to him that we were watching a movie.

It was all too much to endure.

The Green Mile
(1999)

Is it over yet?
I'm not sure what the worst part of this movie was.

A.) It never seemed to end. B.) It was a children's movie with extreme graphic violence. C.) I ran out of pop-corn half-way through and had to go get more, and ended up with a stomach ache. D.) There was this very very annoying guy behind me who laughed out loud constantly.

I think I'll choose B.

Dirty Work
(1998)

Brilliant!
Okay, it wasn't brilliant, but Norm is an underrated genius!

Let's face it though, he's not likeable enough for most people. For that I think he's going to have to settle for the same roles as Chris Elliot. Talented as hell, but not friendly and sweet enough to carry a picture.
