The Crier
(1995)

Just plain bad
It's hard to describe how I felt after watching (parts) of this movie.

The acting wasn't very good, the "special" effects were abysmally bad, and overall it made me feel sad that I actually spent time watching bits and parts of this movie, I spent most of the fast-forwarding to get to the gory stuff. (It takes almost an hour for any action to start at all, the movie is an hour and twenty minutes long)

It deserves a place in the Bottom 100 list, no doubt about it.

My rating: 2/10.

El inquilino
(2004)

Funny
You'd never expect a Norwegian to be the first to comment on this one, eh? ;)

Well, I lived in Spain for 5 years (1984-89), and was looking the other day for a Spanish TV show to watch to refresh my Spanish language skills. I found "El Inquilino" and decided to watch it. (Obviously, I can't get Antena 3 in Norway, so the Internet was the only way I could get this).

*Spoilers?*

I suppose it's an OK watch, it's about an alien who gets stranded on Earth, and needs a human body to inhabit to survive. It picks the body of a recently deceased man. Turns out the guy is a writer who was on his way to an apartment complex to live with the other two protagonists of the series, the two girls Mar and Nayra. Eventually, the girls find out who the man they live with really is (he has undergone a severe change of personality, which his publisher finds especially perplexing), and chaos ensues.

Taiho shichauzo!
(1996)

You're under arrest.
I liked this series, Miyuki and Natsumi were very appealing characters, but I didn't like Nakajima though. He was too much of a stereotypical bumbling fool when it came to him and Miyuki. (Not that she handled it any better). But other than that, it's a good series.

And I want to add that in addition to the 4 episode OVA, the 48 episode first season and the movie and specials, there is also a 26 episode second season. That season has not been licensed by any foregin company yet, so the only way to see it is by getting Japanese DVDs or if not that, the "other" way.

I recommend this, it also has good rewatch value. (for me anyway)

Attack of the Giant Leeches
(1959)

Attack of the Plastic Leeches
Oh all right, I was well into a twelve-pack when I decided to sit down and watch this, so I guess being under the influence made this experience a bit better. :P

Though this movie has a scare factor of about -10 on a scale of 1 to 10, it's actually a kept me watching. I haven't had the pleasure of watching too many of the horror films from the 50s and 60s, but I'm on a mission to do so.

This is not the best of the bunch, but I suppose you can do worse. :)

4/10 points.

Star Trek: Elite Force II
(2003)

Good second installment
I liked the first, but the second one I must say was a bit better. It did at many points resemble the first, but the improved graphics and sound made up for that. The storyline was also much better. It's unusual that Picard would condone the use of a S.W.A.T-like team to solve problems, but I suppose there is a first for everything ;)

It was also funny and cool that they made up a story about how Voyager got out of the Borg cube in the final episode of the ST:Voy series.

Recommended , even if you're not a Trek fan. It is a very good shoot'em up game. There are those I like better, but for me it was a good experience.

Boston Public
(2000)

Not too good
I thought this show was supposed to bring new fresh ideas into the world of television shows.

Instead we get served a rehash of things seen in the past. Load of old ideas redone and well-known television cliches.

I watched it for a short while , then just dropped the whole thing like a hot potato.

I resumed watching, only for a few episodes, after Jeri Ryan joined up, I am a bit of a Ryan fan. :)

I see its running in its last season now, it's probably for the best.

Wolf's Rain
(2003)

A fine show
Just finished watching episode 27-30 (which were delayed and only released on DVD for some reason, I think a conflict with the network airing in Japan). The original 26 episodes aired on TV though.

The ending reminded me of the RahXephon one, and probably not without coincidence, since Bones (the studio making the anime) did both series.

It is a sad and dark tale about a pack of wolves trying to survive in a hostile world, on their way to a place they call "Paradise" which apparently is a better place than their present.

Recommended if you like serious, melancholic and a bit thought-provoking series.

8 out of 10

Mulan
(1998)

Not too bad
This is actually one of the Disney movies I likeed, partly due to the fact that it took place in China, I have a fascination for the Far Eastern countries.

The only thing I have to say is that the voice actor for Mushu should've been someone other than Murphy. I think the character is a little overdone. Other than that it's good for a Disney movie.

Dumb and Dumberer: When Harry Met Lloyd
(2003)

Oh no...
It really was as bad as I predicted... Unfunny and devoid of the whackyness the first movie was endowed with through rubber-face Jim Carreys antics.

I stopped watching some time into the movie. (never bothered to check how long it kept me watching) This turkey (and it's a big one) really deserves its place in the bottom 100 movie list. And I hope it stays there too.

Kill Bill: Vol. 1
(2003)

High expectations, but dissapointed
It just didn't deliver what I hoped it would. (I may have had a bad movie-day)

It just seemed too much of a rip-off from Asian cinema. Fly-by-wire kung fu and japanese blood-spurting ultraviolence. If I want those two I'll just fire up an authentic chinese flic or a japanese one.

But it had a few redeeming features I suppose, I'll just have to think about some.

I feel generous, the beginning wasn't too bad, so it gets 5 out of 10.

Haibane Renmei
(2002)

Beautiful
After watching Haibane Renmei early this year, I thought it was a bit different than Yoshitoshi Abes other works, (like Lain, which is a bit of a puzzler). This series (Haibane Renmei) has an air of sadness to it, but also moments of happiness and joy, and doesn't mess around to much with your head.

I really enjoyed it and would watch it several more times, enjoying it as much as the first. The ending had me virtually in tears, it really was perfect. If you're gonna purchase any anime on DVD in the future, this one should be next on your list. No doubt about that. This one makes the top of my favourite list without problems.

I Wonder Who's Killing Her Now?
(1975)

Worst ever...
This movie needs to be on the #100 worst movie list.

I watched it at the ages 12-13, and not even then could I like it.

Low budget, low quality acting job. Stay as far away as possible from this one!

Vandread
(2000)

Fairly good
Watched Stage 1 and Stage 2 over a year ago and first of all I gotta say the spacebattles are simply breathtaking, some of the best I've ever seen in any anime. The series relies heavily on fan service too, in the form of the scantily clad women we see so often in anime. The plot is OK, it kept me watching, didn't it? :) As for the best anime ever, it is not. But it is entertaining, despite some annyoing characters that got to me. I give it 7 out of 10.

Inuyasha
(2000)

Recommenting.
Well, I'm up to episode 115 now, and I have to say, I thought the show was da bomb for the first 50 or 60 episodes or some (Which was how many I had seen when I commented the first time), but now I think the storyline is dragging out to the point of irritation. At this point. <SPOILER?>, there is a plot thread that has been going on for 16-17 episodes, and it doesn't seen to end just yet. I hope they can change this around, because if they don't, Inu Yasha is gonna take a plunge to the bottom of my favourite anime list.

RahXephon
(2002)

Brilliant!
I watched this show last summer/fall and it is one of the top three animes on my favourite list.

*POSSIBLE SPOILERS*

A story about a boy called Ayato, who lives with his mother in the japanese capital of Tokyo in a world where few people have survived a war, or at least that is what he and the inhabitants of Toyko are told.

One day alien ships attack the city, he meets a mysterious girls who leads him to an unknown place, where he finds the mecha RahXephon inside a large egg. From now on Ayatos world is turned upside down forever. So begins the story one of the best mecha-animes since Neon Genesis Evangelion.

I cannot emphasize enough how much of a must-see this series is. It's out on DVD, so go get it now!

Azumanga daiô
(2002)

Quite brilliant
Well, the comments below tell most of what happens in the series, so I'll just say this is something everybody who is into anime-comedy should watch.

My favourite character on the show is Ôsaka (Ayumu Kasuga). She just cracks me up with her outrageously weird comments. Kimura-sensei is also extremely funny. The rest of the "cast" is also very funny.

Kôkaku kidôtai: Stand Alone Complex
(2002)

Excellent
I am a big fan of the movie, and was pleased to see it made the transition into a series.

It's very well done, with well-balanced action and with the same characters we all know from the movie, plus some more.

Though the episodes trickle out very slowly, I'm always looking forward to each one. This series should be in any animewatchers collection, and even if one does not usually watch anime.

OutRun
(1986)

Classic
Even today, I consider this game a true classic and is as playable as ever. I often start it up, using MAME32, and spend a little time doing some driving. The music is the timeless classic it has always been, and brings me back to the late eighties when I used to play this game down at the arcade in 1987-88.

Mahoromatic
(2001)

Has a bit of everything
It has cute maids, action, comedy, ecchi/fanservice, what more could you want? :)

I've seen all of season one, and most of season 2 (two episodes remain for me).

<SPOILER> One of the more hilarious moments is the episode where Mahoro gets a breast-enlarging machine, which in turn goes amok, and increases everybodys breast-size, including the unfortunate boy of the house, Suguru. Lots and lots of other funny moments too. This series is guaranteed to give plenty of laughs!

Derrick
(1974)

A childhood series
I grew up with this series too. I probably started watching this when I was 4 or 5 years old, and watched it up until recently. I normally never watch German series, but this one was something special. Todays kids may find it antiquated and corny, but I like it.

Enterprise
(2001)

I'm sorry
But I had to discontinue my viewing of Trek with the launch of Enterprise. I hung in there for about 16 episodes, but in the end I found that this series just wasn't able to keep my interest up. It just doesn't hold a candle to my favourite Trek series, which is DS9, and it can even be said that Voyager is better in many aspects. Even TNG outranks Enterprise.

Others may think this series is the best Trek ever, that is their opinion, and I can respect that. But in my opinion, the Trek adventure is over now. Time to put that ol' workhorse to sleep.

Pet Sematary II
(1992)

OMG!
OMG! After finishing this movie, (can't believe I watched the whole thing) I sat for a while wishing for someone to put me out of my misery. This depressing sequel to the original is more than anybody can handle. The plot is a total rehash of the original, the acting is terrible, and the movie relies on gore alone to keep people watching. The ending was a total miss. And Edward Furlong can't act, just so that is said. 90 minutes of my life I could have spent doing something much more productive.

Hand Maid May
(2000)

A bit silly, but funny
Another installment in the ocean of maid anime series that's flooding the market these days. You got your Hand Maid May, your Hanaukyo Maids, your Mahoromatic maid, and so on. The storyline is a bit messy and the characters a bit noisy at times, but it gets a chuckle out of you. And it has the required fanservice, such as pantyshots and such, of course.

And it has 11 out of 10 episodes too, in case you just wondered. :) (episode 11 is one of them so-called specials)

Juyuso seubgyuksageun
(1999)

Funny...
This is actually the first Korean movie i ever saw, and it was really hilarious. If this is Korean crazy comedy, I want to see more. Recommended if you don't hate "foreign" film.

Porky's II: The Next Day
(1983)

Complete failure...
A Porky movie with no Porky in it? I didn't even laugh once. When the restaurant scene came, I just turned the movie off. Skip this one, and watch Porky's and Porky's Revenge instead. The first one is the best, the last is passable.
