Let It Ride
(1989)

Racetrack visitors will recognize these kind of characters
I really liked this movie. Sure, it isn't IMDb top 100, but there are more than a few genuinely funny moments. Richard to David: "What, you like the odds on lightning?" But my favorite part is when Richard and Jennifer were cheering on Fleet Dreams. What happens after Richard wins is classic, especially to anyone that has ever made horse bets. Richard: "God likes me, he really, really likes me". "Wow, what a day, what a day, what a fabulous day". Woman patron in the Jockey Club: "they ought to put a guard on the back door so that sort doesn't get in here". Anyone that has ever dealt with so-called high society will really enjoy this scene.

The Cool and the Crazy
(1958)

a genuine cult classic
Oh the dreaded "smoke". The dreaded "M". Take the Blackboard Jungle movie and spice it up a little bit and you have The Cool And The Crazy. The performances may be weaker but I give it an 8 as it succeeds in being an outstanding piece of propaganda; and thus a genuine cult classic.

Hold On!
(1966)

one of the better 1960s pop music movies
I recently saw Hold On! on TCM in wide screen format and I liked it. It helps to be a fan of 1960s British music, as Hermans Hermits are featured. I guess this was their answer to the Beatles movies of that era. The plot is crazy and the acting is fair at best, but there was enough music and foolishness to keep me interested. A good example of a 1960s pop music movie.

Gambling House
(1950)

wheres the gambling?
Saw this movie recently on cable and I was disappointed. Besides the fact I expected SOME gambling (there is basically none), there was nothing in the characters or story that kept me interested. Only die-hard Vic Mature fans should bother with this one.
