La leggenda del pianista sull'oceano
(1998)

9
Watching the first few scenes I was thinking about my Titanic experiences. Smiling faces, wawing hands and ocean, big ship, I said: oh, no. Fortunately, I was wrong. Although there were some titanicly weepy scenes I didn't like, I could forget about them, because of the others. I think, the film's power is in small things. In little parts(for example the sleighing piano and the duel), pictures, solutions, ideas, and of course, the music. Tim Roth does well again, not to mention the photographer, Koltai Lajos. I gave it a vote of 9. I won't say anything else now, watch it, and decide!

Luna Papa
(1999)

Tale about East
This is a really sweet story about the East. A young girl becomes pregnant, and her father and brother want to find the papa.

Of course, it's not an easy thing, so we can follow them on their long and funny trip.

It's really serious at the start, and it becomes more and more absurd. At the end, when you think it's over, it takes a round, and goes on.

With beautiful scenes, and with a Kusturica-styled humor.

Szomszédok
(1987)

Wow!
Wow! I'm amazed! I'm really happy that the No.1 soap opera of Hungary has an own page! Well, I have to tell those few readers who will read this comment, that unfortunately, Szomszédok is finished. You will never know how interesting the life of Lenke néni and Julcsi, and the others was. But, if you are not interested in the installments they have to pay, or their wrong heating system, please, don't be sad! All right, I'm cruel: most of Hungarians loved this film, when I was 3 years old, I liked it too. I'd recommend it to everyone, who doesn't like stressing films, and who's interested in the everyday life of some ordinary Hungarian families.

Anyway, I have to say that it was much better than the ungoing Mexican stories, which have no reality. So, don't misunderstand me: I don't say that this film is so bad, but, it's not my style.

Wuthering Heights
(1992)

Why did I deserve it?
I saw this movie first because of Ralph Fiennes, who's one of my favourite actors. It was a big disappointment. A ridiculous screenplay, annoying music and poor characters, which are different from the original, evil ones in the novel. The worst thing was that I had to watch it again at the literature lesson at school.

Kavkazskiy plennik
(1996)

Another reason to love Russian movies
In this film, I can find almost everything what I like in a movie. It presents the life of a small community, their thoughts, their feelings and their habits. It has a nice atmosphere, beautiful sights, good actors, and a strong story. What else do you want? Another reason to love Russian movies.

Sibirskiy tsiryulnik
(1998)

Another good film after Burnt by the Sun
Most of the critics are saying bad things about this movie, but all of my friends who have seen it are saying that it was really good. I started to like Nikita Mihalkov, when I saw his film 'Burnt by the Sun'. This film is quite different, but very good too. The film lasts almost 3 hours, but you won't lose your attention until the end. Actors are good, even I had some problems with J. Ormond's acting at some places. Alexei Petrenko and Oleg Menshikov are the best. As we see Oleg, we can believe him that he is really a man in his twenties(although we know he is not) and it's not because his make-up. The director of photography has done a good work too. I'd recommend this film to anyone, who likes movies with great pictures, cast, and who likes Nikita Mihalkov. You don't have to be a romantic type to like it.
