Preps:Chicago Hoops was probably one of my favorite sports related documentary/series when it aired in 2001. Preps basically primarily chronicled the 2001 HS year for 3 Chi-Town area HS basketball stars. Former Thornwood HS center and current NBA Chicago Bulls player Eddy Curry, former Downers Grove North's guard(also a football and baseball player) and current University of Illinois football player Kyle Kleckner and point guard Sean Dockery then of Percy L. Julian HS(he is going to Duke for college). The first two were going through their senior year while Dockery was one of the top juniors in the nation. The series often branched out to cover the close friends and rivals of the main 3 subjects such as:Najeeb Echols(Eddy Curry's close friend now plays ball at Missouri), Jason Straight(another close friend of Curry, currently playing ball at Wyoming)Luther Head(University of Illinois and Chicago Public League rival of Sean Dockery) and my personal favorite from the show, Will "The Thrill" Bynum currently playing for the Arizona Wildcats.

Preps was a nice series for basketball fans of all levels. It gave people like myself a chance to see some of the top players in another state live HS life and compete. The series actually encouraged me to follow up on the players(including the lesser known players from the series) from that series and pay more attention to HS players in general.

All in all a great series. Hopefully, there will be another series that covers NYC HS public basketball(PSAL). If your Fox Sports affiliate ever shows reruns (probably won't happen its been about a year) from the series its worth watching and taping.

I'm more familiar with Keegan's work(in his "younger days"). However aside from Crystal Grant&Keegan,I'm not to familiar with the other actors and actresses. Someone mentioned that they were peripheral characters for the most part so, I might have seen them on other shows or movies but never paid any real attention to them. Onto the movie, I gotta agree that it looks like Teenage porn with some of the scenes . I'm not degrading the film, but thats how it appears. Quick semi-spoiler, if you have watched TNBC, you'll notice that a character from one of the newer TNBC series' is doing some un-family friendly stuff and ahem(spoiler) blowing up(spoiler over). After judging the kind of cameos and roles she had, its hard to picture her in a movie with some of this content. You'll say the same thing about Andrew Keegan as well. Now to give a few compliments. Nice special effects for the most part. The females are easy on the eyes. And the main villain was pretty good. So to conclude, I'll use a cliche to describe this movie. "It is what it is". Its not a 5 star classic, its an HBO/Cinemax level deluxe.

Stop the haterade...I understand that view point now(considering that you are older and chances are you don't watch silly stuff). But back in 94 as a young child or as a devout wrestling/Hulk Hogan fan living in the US...Thunder in Paradise was a pretty cool show to watch. I enjoyed Thunder in Paradise all 22(I think) episodes of it. I'm not going on a limb to proclaim it greatness...but the show gave me and my younger brother some good entertainment. Sure we recognized the fact that the "force field" around Thunder was incredibly poorly done, and that some...okay..many of he lines were very much corny. But dammit we got to see El Gigante aka Giant Gonzales Jorge Gonzales(who oddly made two appearances in the series as what I think are two different characters), we also got to see our guy Sting play the role of Hammerhead, and we got to see what was a pretty cool boat. At the time I kinda wish that there was a toy line fashioned after it. So in conclusion, the show had its faults, but I'm pretty sure that it was targeted to younger children who will readily take in the fantasy world. As I look back on the show...yeah its pretty bad...but at the same time if TNT decided to air reruns...I'd probably watch or tape them as a piece of my childhood memories.

I just watched the Pilot(I taped it) and it seems like it will be a pretty good Nick show. Christina Vidal plays the lead role as Taina(duh). She is a freshman in a Performing Arts Highschool in NYC(woo baby!!). She daydreams and has a very very strong desire to become famous(as do I in some respects). Being that I only have one episode to go on this is all I can give you. Christina has a very good singing voice as shown in the series(we'll get to hear more of it). The show will basically give you Taina's journey through life ,Highschool and her quest for fame. I can't really comment much on the other characters but I did notice Karen Fraction from My Brother and Me as the ballet instructor. I'll hijack Ebert and give it a thumb up.

***a little sidenote** Christina Vidal has lived Taina's life to an extent being that she is also a NYer(woo !!) and she also went to a performing arts highschool. I hope people can latch themselves onto this series because it is very good.

Its the same basic plot as the Dirty Dozens(I loved the Original movie) in that prisoners are used in a "suicide" mission. But this movie isn't on the same level IMO(hey its a tv movie). However the movie was very fun for me to watch.

spoilers: I liked the action, and the actresses...but I kind wish Tempestt Bledsoe(forever known as Vanessa) could have be factored in at the end of the movie at least let her kill some Bad Guys. I also was hoping for the man who led the mission to leave alive

Overall, I was drawn to Idalis'(ok its partly because shes beautiful) character, the action scenes...and the overall premise, hell I like almost every action movie(guns, and explosions). It was "Dirty Dozens Light" with females. I hope there is at least a sequel..another spoiler coming up: 3 of the women are shown exiting the cemetary(Cullen's characters funeral) all going in separate directions...maybe they could link up in a sequel and blow up more stuff and kill some more people....well maybe not.

Its an ok show...moderately funny in some parts, not funny(I mean seriously barefaced non reaction getting skits) in other parts. I could see why smaller kids would like the show. I think Byrnes has some talent, but I believe after All That and Keenan&Kel, they may be out of fresh ideas to revamp the show. Makes you wish that entire cast(original and former) members would get together again for a big Blowout episode of All That. I wish the show success, and I'll watch whenever there is nothing else on tv, but this show will never live up to its predecessors in my eyes.

I used to watch this when it first debuted, then lost a little urge to follow it. But it was a tv staple amongst my younger brother and I.

I enjoyed the skits, the actors and actresses are very talented. But that "glory-days" feeling is gone. I tried to watch it recently and its not the same kind of feeling. It was pretty dead. I mentioned this in the post about Amanda's show. I think she is talented, but the creative well is dry for these comedy shows on Nick. I do think that bringing back some of the cast members who left from time to time(occasional episodes) and some fresh material, might generate some nostalgia and good episodes...but the show needs an overhaul as one guy mentioned. The only member that left that I still actually follow is Alisa Reyes(she is incredibly beautiful and talented) as she plays Marci Blake on "One World". Lori Beth Denberg needs to retake Vital Information(little Pete..Danny Tamberelli is a good actor but he can't live up to Lori Beth's Vital Information), like Norm Macdonald needs to retake his post(Weekend Update) from Colin Quinn. The actors are talented, but they had better freshen it up.

Well I won't do background info on the movie since its been done...but to this day I have the tape of this movie(which was aired separatley like a mini-series as well). Everytime I watch that intro I get that US patriotism goosebumps...."Fighting for freedom wherever theres trouble Over Land and Sea and AIR GI Joe is there.....Yo Joe!!!". I can remember all the times I played along with the movie with my GI Joes and vehicles. Awesome nostalgia movie. Once again that intro with Cobra Forces attacking the statue of liberty....was awesome I always wondered how that would have come off as a live action movie with actual people in it...but in the cartoon world anything can happen which makes it great....and the best part of the tv show was that no matter how many blue and red lasers were shot back and forth...the only casualties where the robot cobra guards...lol

I just started getting into the show a few months ago. I have seen episodes from 98, 99, and 2000 so I think I can give a good evaluation of it. But first, The main plot is that Jett jackson(Lee Thompson Young),an African American child actor, is the star of a weekly TV action series known as "Silverstone". He decides to come back to his hometown in Wilsted North Carolina in an attempt to live a "normal life" .Silverstone is a secret agent with lots of gadgets and since last season a sidekick and an on screen boss. Lindy Booth plays Hawkins aka Hawk(sidekick) and Nigel-Shawn Williams plays Artemis(the boss) and the actor that plays Artemis..Nigel Essex.

Jett's closest friends are Kayla West(Kerry Duff), who is an interacial girl who lives on a farm, and JB Halliburton(Ryan Sommers Baum), whose parents run the local store. Cubby(Jeffrey Douglas) is the prop maker for the Silverstone set and is also one of Jett's closest friends....Cubby is a goofy fun character. Gordon Greene and Montrose Hagins round out the cast as Jett Jackson's father Wood, and Great Granmother Miz Coretta respectively. Andrew Tarbet played Booker Murray the town's deputy. His character has relocated to Raleigh in his attempt to become a "big city" detective. Melanie Nicholls King plays Jett's mother(who is divorced from Wood, and was also a star actress...the character's name slips me for now), the latter two characters are/were recurring characters.

Now my opinions. I love the show,it boats a talented young cast. They all have very good chemistry with eachother. . Some of the episodes have good lessons behind them. Its fun to see the difference in them from the first season til now. Ofcourse they have grown older(Lee Thompson is about 16 years old right now, Ryan Sommers the same age, and Kerry Duff is about 18 years old), but outside of their obvious age differences they have seemingly grown to become better actors and actresses. I have high hopes for all three of them. I believe that Lee Thompson has the charisma to make it far in my opinion, Kerry Duff has the look and acting skills, and I think Ryan Sommers Baum has some great acting skills. I believe that they could play a range of characters. I hope that they don't fade out of the spotlight so to speak as they get older.

In conclusion, I think that the Famous Jett Jackson is a nice show, and I think its aimed at a mid teenage audience but hey I'm 18 and I enjoy the show. I wish I had some acting skills to act alongside this cast.

I like the show(well maybe its because of Alisa Reyes)...chica bonita....but the show has its moments of "silliness". But its trying to show you that its possible for a mixed bag of people to get along...kinda like our city of NYC and my old HS. A melting pot, sure some of the jokes are lame...but I can over look that.

P.S. Alisa Reyes is hot!!

I remember the days of pre Nitro and Thunder...WCW Power Hour and WCW Sat Night and WCW Mainevent Sunday nights....those were part of my wrestling fix. Then it started going to a preliminary wrestler showcase and rookie show..the bigger stars made rare appearances. But I was still happy. as long as wrestling was on I loved it....then the recap show and its cancellation.

WCW Sat Night was an awesome show and it was sad to see it go, but wrestling is on basically everyday and maybe it was for the best.
