Jurassic World Dominion
(2022)

Great fun to watch!
I wanted to watch another Jurassic movie to see all the cool dinosaurs. I was not disappointed. To someone born in the fifties, who learned to program computers with key punch cards (ask an old person) I am absolutely entranced with the animatronics. Everytime I see a dinosaur (in the movie) I think about all the work and creativity involved. If the giant ants in Them (1954) were frightening, then these super monsters are terrifying. Kudos to all who brought modern technology to science fiction today.

I am also appreciative of the great cast. It was good to see actors and actresses from earlier Jurassic movies. I took a moment to mourn the absence of Sir Richard Attenborough; he added so much to the movies he was in. While watching The Green Planet series narrated by Sir Attenborough, I kept expecting a dinosaur to lurch through the jungle or desert.

River
(2015)

More than one story going on here...
While I was being overwhelmed by the joyous dancing near the end, I was startled back to a harsher place with the appearance of Ira. And then I saw a story thread that I had missed! The man standing at the side of the street was Sancho Panza!

I had been watching a version of Don Quixote's insane search for his windmills and the love of his lady Dulcinea! Upon recognizing facets of this other well-loved fantasy, I was brought back to the joyous ending of this amazing story (or stories).

It took all six episodes to drag me, kicking and screaming, into accepting the fantasies that River is viewing. It helped a lot when he called them manifests or manifestations! Not ghosts!

I wonder now how many other delightful plots are woven into this wonderful show! And yes, along with many other of the reviewers, I burst into tears while they were dancing! I haven't done that in years!

Thank you for this show!

Witness Unprotected
(2018)

Entertaining afternoon thriller
I found this an entertaining film. I was surprised by the performance of Tim Abell as the villain. His performance was understated while being commanding. I thought the other actors did a good job, also.

Finding You
(2020)

Dragons and violins!
This is a different film. The young people's love story is secondary to themes of forgiveness and growth. Personal sacrifice is portrayed in a mature manner. So very enjoyable!

Wild Crime
(2021)

Welk-crafted documentary
Watching this program was a chilling experience, but I learned so much about human nature. The family members and agents that shared their feelings and thoughts sent a signal to all of us to watch out for red flags in the relationships of our loved ones. I think they have helped prevent crimes in the future.

Love on a Limb
(2016)

Admired Marilu Henner's acting expertise
Marilu Henner's portrayal of a mother caught between protectiveness of her daughter and living with her own loss, was intriguing. Ashley Williams as the daughter is convincing as a do-gooder tilting at windmills to run from her own pain. Also, the intertwining relationships of a small town are fun to watch.

After the Ball
(2015)

Very Twelfth Night
Portia Doubleday heads a phenomenal cast who have fun with Shakespeare's themes of disguises and miscommunication. I started watching this show thinking it was just a Cinderella remake, but was taken on a surprise road trip through a comedic spectacular.

Ms. Matched
(2016)

Suspend your expectations
I love being surprised by movies! After viewing and studying movies for too many years to mention, I enjoyed the dynamic between the big event and the big debt. It was very fun to see the pros and cons played out. Fun movie!

Fat Chance
(2016)

Simple message
Good message. Good movie. I learned something during this enjoyable movie. Consider the possibility that others are looking at the light shining from within you, and not your outward facade.

A Gift of Miracles
(2015)

Rita Moreno makes it a great movie!
This is enjoyable film that is made great by Rita Moreno's performance. Her character is so genuine and warm that it is delightful to watch.

Faith, Hope & Love
(2019)

Refreshingly good movie
It took persistence to get my daughter and granddaughters to watch this with me. We're all Christians, but have seen some well-meaning, but heavy-handed Christian movies. I finally convinced them to watch the beginning dance montage, and then they were hooked. The movie is a perfect mixture of fun and message. We all agreed that the chemistry between the actors was perfect. Also enjoyable was seeing favorites like M. Emmet Walsh, Ed Asner, Corbin Bernsen, Gary Hershberger, Nancy Stafford, and Michael Richards. I've watched it three times, now, and will continue to enjoy watching this new favorite movie.

The Wedding Do Over
(2018)

Sweet movie
I wan't sure about the idea of a 'wedding do over', but by the end of the movie I could see the value if it. The young couple who are a nurse and a soldier just returned stateside presented a heartfelt story as they work through their problems. I also thought the actors playing the moms and dads did a great job. Very convincing! I will remember for a long time the face one of the dads makes when eating his wife's healthy homemade bran muffin - now that's acting!

Chicago Fire
(2012)

I just removed Chicago Fire from all of my watch lists.
A sad end to a great series. The removal of Yuri Sardarov's character, Otis, from the show in season 8 destroyed the core ensemble of the show. And to find out that Yuri Sardarov did not ask to leave the show really tears it. This reminds me very much of the departure of Bitty Schram from Monk.

I just rediscovered my love of reading this weekend!

Arctic
(2018)

I love a movie that keeps you thinking for a long time!
I didn't realize at first that this movie could be about carrying a burden. When he goes back to push the woman up the hill, instead of running for the helicopter; it was because he abandoned her once before and promised he wouldn't do it again. Amazing moment when he collapses after he had done everything he could, and then the helicopter appears so someone else can take over.

False Pretenses
(2004)

Where expectations turn into red herrings
I was so pleasantly pleased to be surprised by this movie. I was browsing through harlequin-type romances, and thought I'd give this one a try. Every time I thought I knew which way the tale was turning, it didn't. Instead of romances, the story ended with some nice friendships - the real people you can trust.

Rescue Men: The Story of the Pea Island Lifesavers
(2010)

Heroes are made, not broken
I am writing this review as Barry approaches landfall. It makes the history related in this film as real as if it was happening now. As painful as it is to travel through the era of slavery, the conclusion with the endurance and heroism of the Pea Island Lifesavers returned some hope to me for the true American dream.

Mr. Church
(2016)

This movie broke my heart, but in a good way.
I haven't cried during a movie in years, but this movie made me cry. It's the kind of movie that makes each person feel like it was written personally for them. Everyone shined in this movie and reminded me that there are amazing people in the world, because this movie was based on amazing people. I know it broke my heart, and I'm not sure I want it fixed.

Foyle's War
(2002)

a show of substance
Foyle's War is unique in it's blending of history and fiction. I just finished watching a special feature that filmed the stunt preparation for a spitfire crash in "Enemy Fire". I am amazed at the thought and detail that go into making these films.

This is one of the rare productions that makes you think 'outside the box'. Anthony Horowitz has really perfected his craft in putting together scripts,a cast and a crew that can carry off a challenge like this. The concept of a detective solving crimes during a war is in itself a thought-provoking basis for a series. The challenge of balancing right and wrong is integrally woven into each show, and I find myself thinking about moral dilemmas presented in each episode long after watching.

I highly recommend this series for all ages.

Judging Amy
(1999)

I wish all TV was like this
It seems that the quality of timelessness just cannot be discerned until a show has had time to be seen from a distance. I did not watch this show when it originally aired; maybe the first commercials for it didn't appeal to me or something. So, I have been able to enjoy the entire series for the first time in reruns, and have the advantage of being able to watch it 5 times as fast.

I like the fact that the show's producers listened to viewer's feedback; I love that the show evolved so magnificently; I think it was a great ensemble cast;, and I think Tyne Daly is one of the best actresses I have ever had the privilege of watching. In "Columbo", in "Zoot Suit", in whatever role she chooses, she chooses well and acts well. What a great contribution to our viewing experience.

The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe
(2005)

Rare and wonderful movie
Chronicles has accomplished the difficult task of preserving the original author's material and fully incorporating the possibilities of the screen. I was delighted when I heard that C.S. Lewis's stepson, Douglas Gresham, is co-producer of Chronicles; I felt comfortable with the integrity of the movie's plot even before I saw it. My expectations of the animatronics and special effects were not only met, but surpassed. I don't think the story of Narnia could have been told on the screen until now.

You can enjoy this movie and walk out smiling (although I used a couple of tissues, too.) If you are a Christian, you can follow the parable for the story of Jesus. This movie brings a new meaning to "something for everyone".
