Dark Harbor
(1998)

No surprise, indeed...
I saw this film only because of Alan Rickman who is one of my very favourite actors. And he did a decent job. But the film itself is very boring and so predictable it made me sick. I don't know if it's me who's very open-minded or others who are slow but why was the ending so hard to see coming? I saw it all the time. But then, why did they do all the things they did? I don't get it. For love? Because they're lunatics? everything was so boring and the film is a true b-film I don't recommend to anyone. Well, for you people who want to see Rickman naked this is your chance!

Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves
(1991)

A nostalgic trip in many ways...
this is the film of my childhood with my childhood hero Kevin costner as the famous Robin Hood. I saw it for the first time when I was just a kid and seeing it again made me reveal it.

i loved it back then but now i did find it pretty dull and boring to sit through the two hours it takes for Robin to fight and be a romantic man. i have some comments though...

*Morgan Freeman is wonderful. He saves all the scenes with the tired, obviously confused Costner (i know, i know- everyone comments on his accent and so do i. but it's a funny thing more than anything else.) and it's a good thing to add his character to the story.

*often it's funny even though it's not meant to be. because the heroic tale is pretty hilarious, and so is the fact that Robin and his men are able to do anything but rumling around in the woods.

*Alan Rickman saves it all with his classic performance as the hysterical and sarcastic sheriff of Nottingham. i love this guy, i'm so chocked he isn't the biggest star of them all! as soon as you see him in this film you smile because you know you'll be entertained.

*the hilarious rape scene is something extraordinary. the only time i really really laughed during this pretty dull and not to worth seeing film. and that comment says a lot about this.

you wont die if you miss it and if you loved it as a kid, please- don't spoil the memories by seeing it again!

Sense and Sensibility
(1995)

Could you possibly ask for more?
This is my all time favourite adaption of one of the best novels ever made. And since it's filled with my favourite actors and actresses (except from Hugh Grant, of course...) I was pretty exalted about seeing it for the first time.

Now I've seen it like ten times and I find more and more to love about it. Emma Thompson should have a thousands oscars for her beautiful deeds in this film, not only as an excellent actress but also as the one who changed the novel to a script. she's done everything right. and could Ang Lee possibly have found any better actors for the parts? I really doubt. Kate Winslet is stunning as Marianne, the wild, strong girl who got full attention from two very special men. Hugh Grant gives us the usual performance of a nervous, very English guy (please, could someone give him a different part, at least once!) but I forgive him in this lovely film however. and Alan Rickman- he's just wonderful! He gives Brandon the right amount of sadness, tenderness and love- and sweeps anyone of their feet just by being in the scene. And God, that voice! Why on earth would Marianne chose anyone else but him?

Emma Thompson is probably the best actress ever. I adore her. Her performance is brilliant. She's brilliant. The whole film is so brilliant!

Saving Private Ryan
(1998)

Good God, I fell asleep!
okay, I might not be the right person to speak in this question since I hate war films and heroic tales about brave men. yet, i just have to comment on this film after noticing it on the 250-top list. i watched this very long and very loud film with six of my friends and i can say that no one liked it and no one ever found the energy to sit upright while we saw it. it was surprisingly boring and so very uninteresting that i wanted to cry. i mean, what? where's the action? this is a film that should have had some of it, right? and honestly, isn't the whole story incredibly unrealistic? not the war scenes, but the fact that all these men are risking their lives just to save one soldier! that would never ever happen!

so, i'm not going to recommend this to anyone and i surely wont see it again ever!
