Great series
I guess reviewer Smockan didn't notice that Sofia Helins odd character had Aspergers Disorder which results in a very asocial behaviour. She don't know how to socialize or communicate in a normal fashion. She knows nothing about being diplomatic or "holding back". She's just barging in like a bulldozer.

I've seen the first 9 episodes and was amazed by the exciting storyline, the twists and Kim Bodnias acting. Sofia Helins performance isn't top notch but the character is so amusing and hilarious so you cant do nothing but love her. as long as you don't have to meet her in real life. =)

Those of you out there who just watched one episode and thought "this is crap. Cant stand watching this piece of *beeep*. Let's watch Wrestling instead" just don't know what you missed. This is a great crime series and it shows that Sweden and Denmark should co op more often when it comes to made for TV-drama.

S.P.U.N.G
(2002)

One of the best Swedish series ever made
SPUNG is absolutely the best series/movies about youths ever made..in Sweden. Its pure realistic, the dialouge is genuine and the characters feels like real persons. Nothing like the politically correct characters in Staffan Hildebrands b-movies G, Stockholmsnatt, Ingen kan älska som vi and so on. The soundtrack is great, the look of the series is also great and the actors and actresses does a very nice job portraying the funny characters. My favourite is Kim since he is the most fun character. A typical partyloving animal who talks a lot, is straight forward and childish but not stupid. Just childish.

If you ever get the chance to lay your hands on SPUNG you better take it or else you will definitively miss something great. If you watch the entire series you should prepare with some napkins since the ending of season 2 is really really sad.

Too bad it was never released on VHS/DVD.

Seul contre tous
(1998)

Boring.
Ive got nothing to say besides its boring. Nothing happens during the movie. The acting or what you should call it is disappointing. I´ve heard a lot about this movie but nothing was true. It was just a boring story with uninteresting characters. I almost fell asleep but forced myself to keep awake in front of my tv.

Do not waste your time on "I stand alone".

Den vite riddaren
(1994)

A great serie
This is a great serie. It contains as always when it comes to Jan Guillou and Leif GW Persson, a lot of criticism for the swedish society, politicians and especially SÄPO (swedish security police).

Its funny, violent and realistic.Well acted and directed and the story is wellwritten. For those who have read some of Jan Guillous and Leif GW Perssons books some names can be recognized.Erik Ponti (Jan Guillous alter ego)is the journalist from Coq Rouge,Bo Jarnebring is the cop from Leif GW Perssons coptrilogy and some of the politicians are not so well camouflaged politicians from real life.I believe that Ny Demokrati´s (New Democracy) Ian Wachtmeister and Bert Karlsson wasnt very happy when they saw Jan Guillous and Leif GW Perssons caricatures of them on the screen.

Well worth watching!

Smutsiga fingrar
(1973)

Not very good at all..
This movie is pretty lame.Interesting story but boring.Heinz Hopf who plays one of the main crooks is as good as always but the rest of the cast is nothing to cheer about.I didnt like this movie at all.No suspense and no real action.

Only reason to watch this movie is because it is Swedish and very hard to come by.I will never watch it again.

Rännstensungar
(1944)

Not as good as the later version
This is the original version of "Rännstensungar" but nontheless the best version. It´s pretty lame actually and in fact quite boring.

The later version from 1974 is in fact really good and charming.Maybe it´s because I hardly cant recognice any of the actors in this version besides Adolf Jahr. The actors sound like they are reading directly from the manuscript. Not very funny at all.

Tabu
(1977)

Strange story about strange people
This is a very strange movie which probably couldn´t be made today.Vilgot Sjöman tells the story of a lawyer who has a lot of empathy..especially for people with so called sexual perversions. He says that it´s nothing wrong with them..its wrong with the society.

We meet a voyurist,a man who seems to be into S&M (a former medical student who got a hardon during watching the autopsy of a young female) and other strange persons.

Some explicit scenes when a man is showing of his "thingie" to a young female and some sex scenes between Kjell Bergkvist (lawyer) and his girlfriend.

No wonder this movie was forbidden to persons below 15 years of age.

Not very interesting, just plain stupid movie.Hard to find and not worth the effort.

Breaking Point
(1975)

It sucks big time
This movie sucks big time. The story is awful as same as the acting. Its incredibly stupid and totally unrealistic. Not likely that swedish government would send a message to the swedish people which says "Go out and get yourself a gun".

Some hardcore sex and silly violence.Fun to have seen since its very hard to find but I will probably never watch it again.

Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones
(2002)

This is one great flick
I saw it yesterday and was absolutely stunned. It was amazing and everything The Phantom Menace wasn´t. Some of the computeranimated scenes didn´t look very good but 99% of the movie was absolutely fantastic. It had humour, action,a love story and okey acting. The dialog was better than in the last movie but is still a little..what do you call it in english...woody..corny maybe. :)

To fully appreciate the movie one has to watch it several times since a lot is happening. This is great entertainment at its best and George Lucas has proved that he hasn´t loosed his grip.

I didn´t hate Phantom Menace but I hated Jar Jar Binks (kill Jar Jar) but here he was pretty okey.Nothing to complain about. One actor that didn´t impress me was Ewan McGregor. He is a fine actor but here he just walked around with a silly smile on his lips.Besides that he looks like sh-t in beard and not as powerful and impressive as Alec Guinness did in the first trilogy.

Just one last thing. When I watched AOTC everybody in the audience cheered when Yoda drew his lightsabre. It was amazing to see him fight.

I left the cinema with a big smile on my face. Don´t miss this one folks!

Hem ljuva hem
(2001)

Very unpleasant..
Michael Nyqvist is great as the creep who is beating up his wife and child.Very uncomfortable movie.Well acted and well directed. It´s very hard to watch the scenes when he is hitting his wife and child. When I watched those scenes I felt like "I would like to give him the same treatment".

Dont miss this one!

Korset
(1985)

Someone crucifies drug dealers..
The series begins with the funeral of a young girl who died of an overdose of heroin.Shortly after the funeral someone begins tho crucify drug dealers at the front gate of a local policestation.

But this is only the beginning.Something much worse is being planned by powerful people and before anyone understands what is really happening, everything changes in Sweden. But does it change for the better..or the worse?

Its about people fed up with with the demoralization of society, the violence, the drugs and what Sweden has become - a nation of unemployed youth with no hope in ever getting a job,a nation of people who don't care about anything else but themselves and a nation filled with people who don't even want to give birth to children.A society who is falling apart piece by piece.

This series by Lars Molin is excellent.Filled with criticism and anger. Its well made, well acted and contains both violence, excitement and romance.Ingwar Hirdwall as the police Jörgen Wennström is as always fabulous.

Lars Molin really was a good storyteller.>

The Plague Dogs
(1982)

Probably one of the best animated movies ever made..
As everyone else has already said - this is not a movie for kids,at least they should watch it with an adult.

I first saw it at the cinema maybe 19-20 years ago and it has never left my mind.I remember crying in the end of the movie and when I hear "time and tide" it still makes me cry.

It is very well made yet disturbing and as said before it has nothing in compare with Disneys animated musicals. There is nothing funny in this movie.Nothing to laugh at and it makes you feel very sad and depressed and ashamed of being a human.

It is very sad that most people have never ever heard of it.It deserves a far better destiny than to just fade away in to the past.

The only animated movies I can think of that is almost as touching (but still far from) as "Plague dogs",is perhaps Watership Down,Secret of NIHM,An American tail and Grave of the fireflies.

I really hope that animators nowadays could watch Plague dogs and get some inspiration.Disneymovies are nice but they are far to sentimental in my opinion.

Thats just one of the great things about Plague dogs - Its dark, grim and depressive but it NEVER EVER gets sentimental.

Why cant anybody re-release it on VHS and DVD?

"Memories is only about the past, the present time will never last, the future lies within your heart.I left this cruel world behind and I found my peace of mind.I don't feel no pain no more..."

The Blair Witch Project
(1999)

One of the worst movies I have ever seen in my entire life.
Unfortunately I never saw this movie at the cinema but it is probably the worst movie I have ever seen in my entire life. Not scary at all.

I just sat in front of my tv and felt like "Hmm..when am I supposed to get scared ?" It was a very cool idea (on paper) and the rumor that this was for real was a very intelligent way to get peoples attention but the movie should have stayed on paper.

Sorry to say but this is a really crappy movie.Just plain waste of time and money (if you were stupid enough to buy it as I did).Anyway I will watch the sequel someday.

Ginî piggu 2: Chiniku no hana
(1985)

The most gruesome, sadistic, sick "movie" I have ever seen!
Aka "The severing samurai" this must be the sickest, most sadistic, with the most realistic Fx´s ever made!! It was the famous actor Charlie Sheen that made this "movie" famous by showing it to the police and the FBI.He thought he had found a snuff-movie which he hadn´t, of course.

This movie is as much snuff as Donald Duck.It contains no story, only gruesome and extremely sadistic violence against a drugged and stripped woman, bound to a table. The sick man, dressed up as a samurai, with helmet and everything, tortures the poor woman in the most evil ways.

It is not necessary to describe exactly what he does and it is just waste of time to watch this movie. Besides Salo,Last 120 days of Sodom by Pier Paolo Pasolini, this must be the worst movie ever made.

The effects are horribly realistic. They are so well made that if Hollywood got their hands on these guys, the Fx´s-experts in hollywood would have to retire. It is made entirely by a bunch of japanese students who happens to like Fx´s.

As i wrote before. This is NOT worth wasting time on.It is really really gross and the only reason why I saw it was because a friend of mine said.."I´ve got something you have to see".

If you get your hands on this movie-dont watch it.If you really need to see the horrific Fx´s,watch "The making of the Guinea pig series" instead.
