I love the original law and order and criminal intent. When I saw that they were making a Toronto version, well this seemed a little laughable. Will 40-50% of these shows be unsolved? Good thing there isn't a heavy law part in this franchise because as Canadians we don't like to violate peoples rights with lengthy or punishing jail terms. You can be a serial rapist and murderer and we don't want your prison experience to be too harsh or without the possibility of parole. I think people would be disappointed to see the bad guy caught and then released, maybe monitored, maybe not but definitely with a warning to the public that they are likely to reoffend.
In the end this wasn't as terrible as I thought it would be. I get that they're trying to make the characters quirky and interesting. Sells better than bumbling and inept.

I'm late to the game. Just discovered this series in 2024. So intense. Edge of your seat at times. Excellent characters. My only disappointment is that there wasn't a season 4. Highly recommend. Very well done. So many strong characters/actors. I think all of them were a standout. I think Rotten Tomatoes only mentions Jenkins but I think everyone delivers here. Jenkins is excellent, don't get me wrong. But it is a solid ensemble cast. Season 2 was my least favorite of the three but it is still worth the watch. They had me at the theme song. This is way better than homeland. Honestly I never even thought of homeland but I saw it was mentioned in a review. Skip that. Watch this.
I was a childhood fan of the original Edward Woodward series although to be honest it's been so long I barely remember it. I liked the Denzel films. When I heard about this version I was skeptical. Thought it was just another victim of replacing all male roles with women. But I have to say I enjoy Queen Latifah a lot. I think she's pretty bad ass in this. Maybe not the most robust plot lines but it's basic entertainment that is an enjoyable way to pass the time. Not sure why there's so much hate for it.
