  • Lost for Words!

One of the worst, most amateur, cliched 'mob' representations I've ever seen! Save yourself from fast forwarding through this tripe. Intrusive sound drowning out dialogue (probably just as well really!); glacial progress of protagonist as he e.g. Puts on a shirt; takes cake to party... and to top it all an embarrassing 'cool priest' cameo from Ewan McGregor (ahem... artistic integrity?). Dear, oh dear.

  • Grim up North... and South

One of Leigh's best and definitely Thewlis's formative performance. Anti-hero, timeless Hamlet-esqe angst. Superb reality check for 90s Britain, wittily scripted, skilfully acted and still has important things to say.

  • Did it better than the Americans

Gifted Italian director who made best 'westerns' of all time. Autour, unique cinematography, brilliant casting, forensic mise-en-scene, beautiful Morricone soundtrack... always imitated but never beaten.
