M3GAN
(2022)

Wasted opportunity. Expected so much more.
In the year 2022 and the way this was filmed this could have offered so so much. Yep I'm only watching now in 2023 but the major plothole is that this was not listed as a parody. If they had gone balls deep then great comedy but it's everything I've seen before and I don't watch horror as scream is probably the last franchise I viewed.

It's such a shame because it could have been so sinister , lost me when the child gets an ear literally ripped off and doesn't even sell it with as much as eyes watering.

HIS EAR RIPPED OFF HEAD.

And what happens at the end to the person who created the killing machine?

A Time to Kill
(1996)

Aged well
First time viewing in 2022 and it ages very well indeed. SLJ is just a star in any roll and Sandra bullock is one of the most underrated actors around IMHO. 2½ hours is just about right for a courtroom drama & the KKK side bar is an interesting watch.

The saddest part to the movie is that its reliving real life from not to long ago and arguably present day still.

Great casting and good story telling.

Stop blaming the owl
I'm British. I know this about American justice.

1 once you get arrested they ain't looking for anyone else 2 if this was a poor guy in the projects or a black family, maybe Latino this ****show wouldn't even exist.

3 oh yeah 3 he's guilty as sin.

Soupçons

Guilty my lord.......

The Trial of the Chicago 7
(2020)

As enjoyable as Netflix history gets
Very much liked this. Some great performances and some thought provoking moments for a generation and nation who knows little about this story. I'm sure some artistic liberty was taken but the raw footage inclusion is a great add .

I really learned something from this.

Russian Doll
(2019)

How to murder a great idea
Can't blame the pandemic on this one 2019 one of Netflix's finest freshest shows of the year, I've watched season 1 multiple times long awaiting the much delayed season 2. The closing scene of season 1 was so tantalising as it really did leave you thinking 🤔 well where does that leave us?

I will tell you . Nowhere! No continuity, no real explanation as to what's been going on. A subplot thrown in so you feel important if you can follow it. No dark comedy. We waited 3 yrs for this.

My advice is Russian doll is a great stand alone 1 season, I'd give it a 9 but the 2nd season can't be ignored that's why I've ranked it so low.

Please put it to sleep.

White House Farm
(2020)

Grizzy flashback from past.
Started to watch this as a 'something to do' as Netflix offered it up as a recommendation. As soon as i heard the name "Jeremy Bamber" even though i was 11 going on 12 i knew what was going to happen, i knew how it was going to end.

Its a slow burn that runs at a consistent pace which is good, nothing worse than those dramas that run slow then crash wholap in the last 30 minutes.

Great choice of actors, great idea never to have seen the 5 involved in the murders portrayed. I think that was a classy move especially as one of course was vilified for months in the British media as some crazy Drug fuelled psycho killer .

The end credits are rather sad and a marker on the police of the time that although you were right all along you trod on someones bigger toes.

I just can't get my head round how you could do that to your parents blood or not but some people eh.

This was huge then and is still big now for any American viewers because gun crime of this magnitude is so very very rare in the UK.

I enjoyed it, just sad thats it true.

Special
(2019)

I pay for scones
My score of 6 might come as a surprise after my review but i just dont really like this. Some people jump on the liberal soft ass protest and protect the disabled and i hate that as much as the next man or woman. As a disabled man struggling with stuff i find comedy a comfort and dont take offense at humour if its not thrown at me in nasty way.

I just dont get it but i know that this many qualities. A mommycoddled mid twenties repressed lad coming out the closet in the most funny of ways, the neighbourhood watch mum curtain twitching, the insane boss.... i stopped watching after 4 episodes.

Im sure many people will love this, but not for me.

To Olivia
(2021)

Heartwarming story of the great story teller
Probably not one for anyone born out of the British Isles this wonderful so call true tale of the then struggling Roald Dahl wonderfully portrayed by Hugh Bonneville yet outshone by the still glamorous Keeley Hawes as the Anglo American Actress Patricia Neal.

Without being too sickly in love or without being to turbulent it shows a strained marriage that is rocked with tragedy, one i am just learning about by watching the film.

The two young girls who played Olivia and Tessa ( now known as Sophie Dahl ) where really great.

As a kid growing up in the 70s and 80s Charlie, Danny, The Twits, Mrs Pepperpot , James etc were just a joy and i was always much more a Dahl reader than a Enid Blyton and her bloody Racist and not very PC Noddy books ,or the sickly famous five which i I only liked the border collie.

Back on topic, good acting, above average script. Not bad all round to say it was a SKY TV Exclusive. Cant understand reviews under 7 but i suppose some people dont understand just how important as a Briton and legend Roald Dahl is.

One for a rainy afternoon in lockdown times

Late Night
(2019)

DAMN YOU ! Netflix, you recommended some ****
So coming off the back of 'THE OFFICE' a recommendation. A one off written by and starring the talented Mindy Kaling. Also the aging but Mega Brit Emma Thompson who for some reason transforms into the late Victoria Wood in a scene that shows her watching past performances as a stand up.

Also quite a strong line up from the serious bond type to the extreme funny late night type.

So as far as the story goes , predictably boring. The set is cheap. The acting is sub par . The direction is a mess and was this meant to be a comedy? I literally can't remember laughing once. ... a little at the joke they repeated.

Try again Mindy, or maybe not?

Parks and Recreation
(2009)

Heres why you can't score The Office a 10
From Cold Opens to Plot Lines, Continuation, Visuals , Dead Pan , Acting and down right funniness this tops The Office in every dept.

Where there had the one big star to start in with Steve Carell PAR has the wonderful Amy Poehler who is definitely a far more trained performer for this kind of work and even her production work shines through. But PAR also as deadpan Nick Offerman , Office trainee Rashida Jones who shines , zany Aziz Ansari , the delightful comedian Aubrey Plaza and thats just naming those who given main role in series one.

Im starting watching PAR again on Netflix after watching The Office for the first time, im glad i did it this way round . If i had done it the other way i think The Office would come over worse.

The Office is very good, But Parks and Rec is SNL funny. To translate funny to Britain so well is not easy . One of the funniest TV shows of the 21st by a mile.

The Office
(2005)

Thats what i said !
So i will admit that my Brit snobbery overshadowed my want to watch another rip off a Brit-com transformed into yankvision . Ive been tempted as I've heard of all the accolades and what with Steve Carell as the boss surely it couldn't be all that bad.

So Netflix brings out the series and i give it a go, 1st episode is almost a script for script rewrite and when i see series 1 has 6 episodes i guess that will be the case for the entire series. However episode 2 takes us into a complete different direction. Also different is the write up of characters who all have different names . However there is the obvious hidden love angle between the receptionist and the salesman.

The wars between the two salesmen are a lot funnier than the same jokes being played by 'Tim and Dawn' on Gareth however im going to state this now. The man 4 characters i think Michael, Dwight , Pam definitely have the edge but sorry Jim nobody can beat Tims expression not even you Jim. Although the Jim/Pam match is way better.

Then i get to series 2 im still unsure but this sold it. I was sure it would fail .24 episodes which is more than the entire BBC franchise but i love the way other characters came more into it. Was surprised to see how some story angles went but its sold to the US audience so fine.

For me the office just gets better as it grows older...but then the tiny cracks appear. And these are my personal opinions others im sure will disagree. Rashida Jones was a great addition to the cast , Ed Helms was terrible as a cast member as he was a salesman just cringeworthy acting, ok he can sing a little. Giving Criag Robinson a more permanent role brilliant idea. Kathy Bates oh dear... Zach Woods meh. Even Will Ferrell sucked and by the time he appeared the rest of the cast was so strong that he needed a Anchorman performance. Idris Elba was a ray of sunlight .

But heres where the wheels fall off James Spader with hair and in same character as the Blacklist, just about killed the show . Every time he made an appearance and i used to like The Blacklist until it got silly.

However yin and yan a young Ellie Kemper is outstanding and i dont care that her sister probably got her the job. She makes up for all the crap that got added.

As well as the main 4 characters over the series i love the growth of some of the the others . My favourite is Angela by a mile , then Kevin and Oscar that triangle of the number crunchers is very funny.

The others very funny too .

This would have been a ten (10) but i deducted 2 marks and heres why. 1 for James Spader getting an entire series 1 for not cutting ties when Steve Carell left

Jack's Back
(1988)

I've had scarier Aunties babysit me
Utter hogwash and that's before we get to the acting. I only hope when it's my to turn to go and my life flashes before my eyes I don't relive today

Road House
(1989)

Craphouse
I don't want to step on a good actors grave, if I give a poor review here I will sleep soundly knowing that my integrity is in fact.

Typical feel bad film of it's time where one man can beat up all comers because they all attack him one by one. They are real nasty bad asses who dont shoot yet protect a rite villan. And of course even though hes a raging homosexual he gets the girl who happens to be the most beautiful, best hair, make up etc and has earth shattering intercourse.

Yep you seen it before.

The Judge
(2014)

GUILTY!!
Of wasting my time with a multitude of unnecessary subplots, get to the point already.. I got to the point I couldn't remember if I cared.

Wasted opportunity

Bloodsport: The Dark Kumite
(1999)

Please stop, I beg you
Why? The first one is terrible now. So the 4th is just slit your wrists. This was a bad idea that someone needed to have a honest conversation about.

Watch it if you have viewed everything else possible in the archive of pop culture. If not there must be an east European documentary on bird poo that is better.

A solid minus 5 but I'm forced to give it 1

Bloodsport III
(1996)

You cant polish a turd
Just changing the lead does not make this piss poor franchise any better, the more that come the worse they get I need a 0 star option

Bloodsport 2
(1996)

If the first didn't convince you
As a kid in the early 90s super duper, as someone with a developed brain please stop now for the love of god

Bloodsport
(1988)

A film of it's time? Maybe but hasn't dated well
I remember as a kid these type of films being the rage, The karate kid with balls. But back in 1988 this was rated as an 18 maybe that put extra spice into it. Watching now as a mature middle aged man it's not even a poor mans Bruce Lee more like a homeless one.

Dreadful acting, script in fact its baffling. The only thing that could be worse is if they did a squeal...you what!

The Accused
(1988)

Standing the test of time.
Still takes quite a strong stomach to watch the actual scene that was so brilliantly and frightening played out by Jodie Foster . Jodie is one of the most underrated actors of all time and only in her in passing will people take note of this immense talent.

I've had a crush on her since bugsy malone which was ok because I was a kid younger than her so nothing sick about it.

It's a sad reflection that 30 years plus a global problem still exists when women try to pursue a rape charge the only ones who seem to get a high success rate are those who are killed after the attack. So to be believed you have to give your life a little like proving your not a witch 800 years ago.

Back to the film when this was released it had an even bigger impact, I'm sure it at least gained nominations for actress and film etc . I might Edit later.

Anyway pandemic 2020 lockdown view is still a solid 9 worth watching either again or for the first time.

The Ripper
(2020)

So many facts left out . WHY ?
I was looking forward to this documentary from Netflix, it's one of my earliest memories as a young boy. The first reported death I'd be 4 . Wilma McCann the most unfortunate and I want to state here and now INNOCENT victim of Peter Sutcliffe that ended when I was 7 . I recall the ladies down my own street frightened and taking precautions. We lived in Wakefield west Yorkshire, if Netflix had done a proper job Sutcliffe's first ever attempt of an assault happened in Wakefield years before his first kill. The first I.D. taken that looked similar to the one in documentary was taken.

They mention nothing of the young girl who he started to attack but was disturbed by a car and he subsequently threw her over an hedge to die, another photo fit of the same man with a Yorkshire accent.

The woman who was chased as she walked home just making it back, another description the same with a Yorkshire accent.

The man in charge of the ripper squad had actually been removed when the South Yorkshire bobby arrested him. He had also suffered a heart attack.

The amount of things they left out, the £5 could have been connected to him, if they had carried on the tyre search to its conclusion they would have had him.

And even now the police they lie , £78 on a night out in Bradford at the Mecca in 1978 ! A pint of top quality larger was 25p , spirits around 18p-23p ....

It just seemed that the whole series protected the Police, Gave little to no sympathy for victims and made Sutcliffe a cult like figure.

This was horrendous and people still worry around West Yorkshire about what could happen.

Netflix what a let down

Dave Chappelle: The Bird Revelation
(2017)

Poor mans Richard Pryor
Trying to be shocking and controversial by using language and words that purposely offend , words that really should not be uttered in the 21st century by anyone , no excuses about taking ownership either.

Richard Pryor just didn't do his routine for all round shock value, it was genuine as if he was talking to his neighbour or friend at the pub.

Dave Chappell is here today but wont be remembered in 40/50 years I guarantee it.

The Netflix Afterparty
(2020)

3 presenters and a empty sofa
Does not work during a pandemic era , David Spade is no Johnathan Ross either.

Welcome to Marwen
(2018)

Poignant, unique and brilliant way of telling a true story.
Some of the other reviews on here are just unbelievable. People watch movies with no concept of the reality. This a true story was portrayed brilliantly, ok the leads were American but the supporting cast were great. The only other way of telling this story would be a film about a man who has a model village, buys WWII dolls , dolls & integrates them. And he was subjected to a savage assault which left him vulnerable and wrecked his mental capacity.

For me it's a sad but happy tale with lots of laughs and you can get into it right from the first scene. If not turn off and forget the review it's not for you.

I'm just sick of the " well I put this on Netflix and I wasted 2hrs of my life yardyyah " TURN IT OFF!

great film solid 9

Black Mirror: Black Museum
(2017)
Episode 6, Season 4

Black Mirror Easter Egg Hunt
Nope the first time I watched this I had no idea of the twist. I did reckon there was something a foot as the tour progressed and the guide began to sweat and when it came to the star attraction I did take on board ... well it would become a spoiler but let's say this story was discussed in different terms from the others.

But the other thing is to look out for all the stuff from other episodes so this must be way into the future in the BM timeline, I mean way into when you actually walk around but that's for you to find.

One of the best episodes, like White Christmas a series of stories within a main feature story.

Ten without a doubt.
