  • Waste of Time

I kept waiting for the movie to improve and get funny because of the potential from the cast, about halfways through the movie when Murray and Davidson go into the store I gave up on it. The scene was rediculous and a forecast of what the remainder of the movie was going to be like. To mitigate my loss and check it off the list I fast forwarded through the remainder of movie.

The best part of the movie was Lucinda William's opening song.

If racial diversity was incorporated in the plot in hopes of winning Oscars there are going to be some dissapointed people.

Dustin Hoffman must of bailed after he read the script, the other actors read the script but showed up for the pay check anyway.

I preferred the Bob Dylan documentary No Direction Home by Martin Scorsese then this semi biographical attempt. Although the actors did a good job of imitating you will get a better understanding of the music and the times by watching and listening to the real people. You can watch the live version of the music sung by Dylan and Baez instead of somebody imitating them. You also have Dylan,Baez, Suze Roto, Al Kooper,Ginsberg etc. Looking back to try and explain and understand the enigma.

A Complete Unknown is overly hyped and another attempt by Hollywood to cash in. If the music in the movie has inspired you I recommend you watch the documentary.

  • Silly

They do not make them like this anymore, thankfully. I am sure Ernest Hemingway must of turned over in his grave, the original 1946 version Hemingway praised as one of the best adaptations of any of his novels, this version was silly and was more like a Walt Disney lovebug movie. Half of the movie was filler with what seemed liked endless car rides. The movie could of been cut in half if all the filler had been eliminated. I actually fast forwarded throughout some of the filler and did not miss anything. The plot was unimaginative the acting mediocre Ronald Regan felt like he was a puppet somebody wound up and pushed a button to make him speak. Lee Marvin could of been drunk throughout the whole movie but you would not have noticed or cared. If you want to relive your childhood and pretend you are 12 years old you will enjoy this movie.
