Didn't know a lot about the movie - decided to watch it because I really like the two stars, John Cena and Awkwafina. You get a little bit of setup at the very beginning, and then the crazy starts and just keeps going, and I mean that in the very best possible way. Cena and Awkwafina are super likeable off screen, and really convey that likeability to the movie. Simu Liu and Machine Gun Kelly come in, and just add to the action (Liu) and a truly hilarious turn by Kelly. So is this movie realistic- heck no. Is this a groundbreaking film that will make you think long after you stopped watching it- nope. Is it super entertaining, fun, and just a blast to watch- absolutely! I easily could have watched another hour of this movie - and there are so few movies I can say that about. If you're looking for some Escapist entertainment - none better than this!

The cops are corrupt, the politics are run by organized crime, petty theft is rampant, people are killed all the time, and the citizens don't want to live there. This is a city that could spawn a masked vigilante. Great new takes on the Gordons, the Penguin, the cops in general, and Bruce Wayne and his butler. And not every known character comes out alive - so refreshing after years of criminals going to Arkham and popping up again next week. This could be a Batman that started in1940's noir (instead of those awful movie serials). Enjoy this for what is is - a new classic that stands on its own.
