Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End
(2007)

A terrific movie experience!
Now, when most people think "Pirate" they think high adventure and Romance. Yes, this pirate movie, the best of three, does have those, so breathe easy. BUT, it includes so much more. Subtle plot twists, intertwining character stories, and the like. In fact, this movie actually has more plot development and character interaction than it does action sequences, which don't disappoint. The movie takes a turn by adding in surrealism, using Jack Sparrow and his world-famous Jackanisms en masse to add another dimension and edge to the way the plot develops, and also are used to show another side of his nature as a character. The acting, particularly on the part of Bill Nighy as Davy Jones, is impeccable, and finally, the minor characters who everyone loves get their moments to shine.

The Batman vs. Dracula
(2005)

Surprisingly Excellent
I got this expecting a usual icon vs. icon movie like Alien vs. Predator, good in theory, but really only good for a few laughs over how goofy it is. Unexpectedly, I received a very good movie. Dracula was very well done as an aristocratic noble/bloodsucking Nosferatu. Batman has his typical gadgets and intelligence, also using his ability to view every angle to not completely ignore the obvious like most vampire movie heroes. Having an enemy that was truly more powerful than Batman was a welcome reprieve after a seventeen years of watching the invincible superman on my television. I suggest getting this movie as soon as possible.

Darkwatch: Curse of the West
(2005)

Perfect Coming Together!
Darkwatch is a perfect union between the Action, Horror, and Western genres. Aside from taking the best elements from all 3 (vampires, massive combat, and a good old-fashioned Mexican standoff) the unique plot and characters make this worth the money. Jehrico Cross, the ex-outlaw turned monster hunter after he is made a vampire. Cassidy Sharp, his helper (if he's "good"), Tala, an ambitious and cruel Darkwatch officer. Lazarus Malkoth, the vampire ancient who sired Jehrico, and the character who gives the game its subtitle, "Curse of the West." Replayability is good, as there are two ways Jehrico can lean. He can attempt to redeem himself and save his soul, or embrace the gift Lazarus forced on him. 10/10.

Devil May Cry 3
(2005)

Best in the series
The third game of the series is the best, as is the law of trilogies. I like this game for the same reasons I like the first. The characters. Dante has returned the fast-talking sarcastic B.A. that we all know and love. However this time he actually develops, unlike the first, in which he is already developed and remains the same throughout. His brother Vergil makes his first appearance since 2001, and he's a better character in this one, as a dark and dramatic figure who is deadly with a blade. Arkham, the mysterious old former librarian who aids Vergil in his quest for his father's power, and Lady, a mysterious demon hunter with a connection to Arkham, shown by their matching red and blue eyes. They are all linked, as well and as unexpectedly as a Dickens novel. The characters and their development beats the first, even. The plot itself is also very good. But I won't spoil it, because then you won't be motivated to play the game. Just trust me that it's as good as the first if not better. The game is best if it is the special edition, in which you can play as Vergil, and you can lower the difficulty if necessary.

In total, this deserves an 11 but they don't have that here.

Devil May Cry
(2001)

Jackpot!
Okay, I first played the series with Devil May Cry 2 in passing. I wasn't impressed. Then I learned that in the rest of the series the plot is more coherent and Dante is way cooler. I'm glad I believed them. In terms of characters and their interaction, it's second only to number 3. Dante, the hero, the mysterious woman who wrecks his office (now a pattern) and the Black Knight Nelo Angelo. Dante's past is unraveled as the game progresses, as are everyone Else's, which all tie in in many clever ways. Then there is the Dark Emperor Mundus, smote by Sparda, the legendary Demon who woke up to justice and saved the human world from Mundus' hordes. In terms of plot, it's great. A mercenary demon hunter is brought to an island where the Dark Emperor is gathering his power, and so on (play the game if you want the plot, it's more fun!) The cut scenes are excellent, as is the writing. Dante's demonic heritage gives him physical resistance that makes for some "interesting" scenes.

10/10, just in case you missed that above. If you haven't played this yet, do it.

Shaun of the Dead
(2004)

Which part was funny?
I saw this movie expecting a comedy. I did not get one. I am usually good with switching genre mid-movie, but those movies at least had something that was supposed to be funny. Which part aside from the opening lines is supposed to be funny here? The part when he needs to kill a family member? The part where a man is ripped apart and his legs are then used as weapons? If you thought this movie was funny, you deserve to rot in hell. I understand that there were some British jokes, and I understood and was entertained by them for a few seconds. Then those dear to Shaun are brutally killed, and it's apparently supposed to be funny. If you have not seen this, get on your knees and thank whatever god you worship. If you were as unfortunate as me and wasted money on this, I relate. If you are someone who thought this movie was funny I've already told you where to go.
