Wild Mountain Thyme
(2020)

There's these greens fields
...and the animals living off them. Wild Mountain Theme..just the name. What an amazing movie. Had a hunch this Irish movie was good, but the rating made me a little skeptical. But of course, after watching the wonderful Wild Mountain Thyme, I understod that this poetic, sensitive whisper of a film, full of Irish wit and humor, is not necessarily made for the Marvel-kind. No offence.. It took me a couple of minutes before I recognized Christopher Walken as father on the farm. That's when I realized that this film had to have quality. Walken doesn't act the part, he becomes the part. And as so often, he shows the quality differences between the younger and older guard in acting. That said, Blunt & Dornan really surprised me. Although I already knew that Emily Blunt is a quality actress, I have to admit that I had my prejudices against Dornan aka Mr. Grey. But both were wonderful, unceremonious and genuine in all their Irishness. Finally, I have to mention the location of Wild Mountain Thyme with Nephin Mountain as a constant majesty resting in the background of the beautiful scenery . And the coloring and colorscheme of the movie is also, well, AMAZING.

The Grey
(2011)

The Revenant gone sour
Had quite high hopes for this one, BUT the crazy killer wolves ruined my impression of this movie quickly. I actually think the film would appear more believable and realistic without these bloodthirsty monsters slash «wolves». Also quickly realized that this was an "and then they were none" kinda movie, which is also a depressing concept. The film was, on the whole, overwhelmingly self-pitying, predictable, clichéd and unrealistic, boarderline adventure film. It seems that the director has attempted a mixture of Alive and the Revenant with a splash of The Perfect Storm, but unfortunately without the cinematic qualities.

The Santa Clause 3: The Escape Clause
(2006)

Check twice before watching this
This movie almost ruined my impression of the wonderful first Santa movie. Unfortunately this third successor lacks both Christmas spirit and Christmas nostalgiac. A strange, bland concept where almost the entire movie takes place at the North Pole, in settings that look almost theatrical. And the whole tooth fairy, Jack Frost and Mother Earth thing..wish they had just skipped that whole mess. Missed the cozy, earthy atmosphere from Santa Clause, and sadly it went from bad to worse from Santa Claus 2 to Santa Claus 3. So many other stories could have been made other than this weird and boering stuff.

A Kiss Before Christmas
(2021)

A Christmas surprise
Came across this film by chance and it was one of the more pleasant surprises of Christmas after a series of C films. These two actors have an energy that just matches and the film has clear qualities about both the story and the characters. Man wants a life with more wealth and promotion at work, and after a meeting with Santa Claus, he falls asleep and wakes up in a time where he is without family, but a boss at work. A film with lovely Christmas decorations, nice locations and a lovely story. Hope to see these two in more movies, a good reunion after Desperate Housewives. One of Hallmark's better productions and proves that it pays off to put just a little bit more into the quality of the actors, the movie script and the film set.

The Lodge
(2019)

Winter mystery that turned sour
The movie started off so well and the impression is that it is of really high quality, almost like one of the really good mystery movies from the 90s or early 2000s. You know, that kinda movies they don't make anymore. But, as the action unfolds, the story becomes more and more dark and detached from reality, almost to the point of becoming depressing. AND the dog dies..enough said!

Because of the cinematic qualities and acting performances, such as the all-time best movie cry from the daughter, played by Lia McHugh, I would have given it an eight..had it not been for the bad ending and the pore dog. Every scary mystery should have a happy ending, Stephen King style.

The Real Housewives of Toronto
(2017)

Foxy Roxy and Kara The Villain
The Real Housewives of Toronto follows six of the city's most privileged, powerful and glamorous women as they navigate the elite social scene of Canada's largest city. Meet Roxy Earle, The First Plus-Size Real Housewife, and a very Inspirational lady with all her great dresses and fancy lifestyle, and Kara Alloway, the serie's must-have villain.

As always when watching a new Housewife series: a bit boring to begin with, but eventually quite entertaining. I enjoyed getting to know life in a Canadian city, and think it was a shame that the series begins and ends with only one season.

Also, I really missed a reunion wrapping up the season. Think it would have been really fun to watch.

Halloween
(2018)

Entertaining, but...
Could have been so GOOD, instead I missed the creepy house-scares that Halloween is all about. Too much car driving and other scenes, and not enough creepy scares.

The Real Housewives of Vancouver
(2012)

The Real Housewives of Vancouver..what to say about The Real Housewives of Vancouver
The first episodes felt like a jumble of women who looked exactly alike. The series clearly show signs of a casting team with very poor and narrow preferences. But as you watch the episodes, one slowly manages to separate the women from each other, and the first season is not so bad.

The second season, however, is already the beginning of the end, as the series only consists of two seasons. Part of the explanation for the series' short lifespan must be that half the group has already been replaced with a completely strange crowd. Especially the series' femme fatale Christina is missed. But what totally destroys the series from being taken seriously is the ridiculous Jody The Bully, who totally tears down the series' credibility and instead makes it a comedy show. How the casting has allowed the continuous bullying of Mary Silva is beyond me. But anyways, glad to have watched the series after all and gotten to know these Canadian ladies. That is, besides Jody The Bully of course!

12 Days of Giving
(2017)

Look a little like Christmas
The vibe and staging of this movie is not that very Christmasy. But the acting is quite good.

Krampus
(2015)

Cozy Christmas scare
A different kinda Christmas movie to watch when you're getting tired of the Hallmarks. Although the first half of the movie is much better than the second half.

A Merry Christmas Match
(2019)

Inspiring Christmas movie
At first sight a bit lame, but this is a Christmas movie with a good and slightly different casting. The supporting roles are great . I'll put in on my replay Christmas movie list.

The Sweetest Christmas
(2017)

Thin storyline even for a Christmas Movie
The looongest movie about a gingerbread competition😴

Hereditary
(2018)

Started so GOOD ended so BAD
Although scary, it just became too weird & depressing in the end.

The Wolf of Wall Street
(2013)

A caricatured bio
..about a man who works as a corrupt stockbroker, living the excess lifestyle and becomes a drug&sex addict. Cliché, cliché.. Allthough a well made movie it is too long and somewhat uninteristing.

Vanderpump Rules
(2013)

Pumping it!
A spin-off of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, it has aired eight seasons and features Lisa Vanderpump and the staff at her restaurant SUR in West Hollywood. The lifestyle of the L.A. working girls and boys are simply GOOD reality TV.

Skinnygirl Working it!
A sister show of RONY and total binge-watching material! An inspiring and real insight into the busy life and lifestyle of the skinnygirl! Love the hometown visit to Hazleton, the Thanksgiving dinner disaster and the Christmas celebration in Malibu.

The Real Housewives of New York City

New York Chic C'est La Vie

The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills

A show with amazing dresses and houses, and with the deepest and most dramatic family & friends-intrigues. Welcome to Amsterdam? is just one of many highlights! Hopefully Mrs. Vanderpump will be returning on the show soooon! And OH! how we miss Yolanda!

Ladies of London
(2014)

PLEASE come back
Although not a real real housewife show per se, it is as close as we get to an English version. The allure of London, the friendships and unfriendships and the urban, aristocratic lifestyle are captivating! Just give it some episodes and you're into it! What a shame the show ended with only three seasons.
