102 Dalmatians (2000) is the unnecessary sequel to the 1996 remake and this is a movie I used to watch as a kid for reasons I will never understand because this movie is a major dumpster fire.
Positives for 102 Dalmatians (2000): Glenn Close is still very entertaining as Cruella de Vil. That's all I've got for the positives.
Negatives for 102 Dalmatians (2000): The opening of this movie is battling as it shows us that Cruella de Vil has been psychologically trained to love dogs especially dalmatians and it is just as strange and nonsensical as you would think it is. Aside from Glenn Close as Cruella de Vil, the other characters have been recasted and you don't care about any of them. The movie makes the stupid decision to double-down on Cruella's cruelty and it feels tasteless. There is a new dalmatian named oddball and she does some of the dumbest things that no dog would ever do in a live-action movie. And finally, the third act of this movie tries to go for another Home Alone style finale like in 1996 except it's really goofy and stupid this time around.
Overall, 102 Dalmatians (2000) was a total misfire form beginning to end and I look forward to never rewatching this movie ever again.

101 Dalmatians (1996) is the remake of the 1961 Disney animated classic and it was phenomenal.
Positives for 101 Dalmatians (1996): Similar to The Jungle Book (1994), this movie takes the premise of the original and expands upon the story and characters. This movie takes the human characters and makes them more interesting. It also helps that the performances are very good with Glenn Close as Cruella de Vil, Jeff Daniels as Roger Dearly, Joely Richardson as Anita Campbell-Green-Dearly, Joan Plowright as the Nanny, Hugh Laurie as Jasper and Mark Williams as Horace. The standout performance is Glenn Close as Cruella de Vil and she is so deliciously over the top that it makes her eventual defeat all the more satisfying. The Dalmatians are just as cute as they were in the original. The Twilight Howl is recreated perfectly in this movie and it is just as good as in the original animated movie. And finally, the third act of this movie is basically the Dalmatian pups taking out Cruella de Vil, Horace and Jasper via Home Alone style traps and it was so damn entertaining.
Overall, 101 Dalmatians (1996) is another fantastic live-action remake to a Disney animated classic and it makes me wish that Disney did this with all their current live-action remakes.

One Hundred and One Dalmatians (1961) is one of the Disney animated movies that has taken me the longest time to watch. Nke that I have watched the movie, I can say that it is an instant classic.
Positives for One Hundred and One Dalmatians (1961): This movie has a simple story of having two adult Dalmatians saving their puppies from the clutches of the evil Cruella de Vil. The movie starts off as a boy meets girl except they are dogs and then they have a huge liter of puppies. I love the characters of Pongo and Perdita as they are very determined to save their puppies from Cruella de Vil. Cruella de Vil is one of the best villains in Disney history. The Twilight Howl is a iconic sequence in the history of Disney. The chase sequences are awesome and full of energy. The movie is short and it knows what to do. And finally, I loved the ending to this movie.
Overall, One Hundred and One Dalmatians (1961) is an instant classic of Disney animation and I look forward to rewatching it in the future.
