A League of Their Own
(2022)

Two shows shoved into one
So the 5 stars is for the reboot of the movie. I really like it, but want a lot more. It barely shows the life of the main character and there is a whole team that no one really knows about. Instead of getting character development, half of the movie is telling the in depth story and completely separate life of an African American girl that wanted to try out for the team that couldn't because she was black and was turned away at tryouts. To be honest I'm really kind of tired of that storyline, and they should have made this story a completely different show, for people that are interested in that storyline. It seems like this message is crammed into anything you watch now, I get it. They try to tie her into the story by making her gay like everyone else. None of it has anything to do with the baseball team or league! It is a completely separate story. They spend an entire episode about her best friend having a mental breakdown because she is afraid she won't get crabs for her house warming party...Ok there's a war going on, where many families are learning that their loved one died. No one cares about your crabs...Again none of this has ANYTHING to do with the show. They tie them together in the episode by the girl being discriminated on AGAIN, and one of the players helping her get the crabs...This is beyond frustrating! It's literally two completely different stories. With half of the show being this characters life, the baseball part and team is really rushed, and we have no idea some team members even exist. I really want to like the show, but I would like to watch the actual show about the team and team members! There are a lot of complaints about the LGBTQ factor in the movie. It doesn't matter to me one way or another who they are with. But I get what some people are saying about making everyone gay because it's a fad. I kind of see that, because the relationships in this show are shallow and on the level of high school drama. And for people who were actually gay during that time period, or really people who are gay I'm general, it is anything but a fad. With so many players being LGTBQ, they should have shown the lives they faced back then, instead of some random girl, with a completely different storyline.

The Crown
(2016)

This rating is for Season 5
I started to watch The Crown one day during the pandemic and fresh out of major surgery. I was desperate to find ANYTHING to watch. It seemed boring, and I was never a huge history buff. I was so shocked at how much I actually enjoyed the show. I became hooked. The lives of people who always seemed so one dimensional to me living in a castle cutting ribbons, were actually complex. There was a lot I didn't know. I also loved the cast. They showed imperfect people, yet you could still sympathize with them. They seemed to truly embody their roles. This became one of my favorite shows ever.

I have been anxiously awaiting Season 5 for years. With events such as the infamous annus horiblis 1992, the divorce of 3 of 4 children, the Tampongate, and tell all interview wars it was the most eventful season yet. A lot of the reviews said it was like a trashy soap opera. I immediately thought this is going to be epic. I stayed up until 3am so I could watch the minute the series was available (I know, it's a little much). But I was really looking forward to it. I thought episodes would be available on a weekly basis. When I saw the whole season immediately available, I felt like Christmas came early (again a little much). I immediately dove in.

I can't begin to express my disappointment. This is hands down the worst season ever! If the first few seasons of the series had been anything like this, I would've never became a fan of the show. I feel like someone could have made their own low budget series in their house and did a better job. Seriously, ANYONE could have done a better job. The entire season falls completely flat. I was planning on completely binge watching the season. It took me several days to finish, because I had to force myself to sit through these horrible episodes. They are all bad.

The new cast is absolutely awful! A large part of the reason that the series is so successful is due to the cast. They truly embodied the roles. Both actresses who played Queen Elizabeth II depicted her as human. She was born into privilege and has been controversial throughout the years. But you see her as human, and overall a decent person who does the best that she can with what she has. The rest of the cast shows the ups and downs of supporting her and her role as queen, while trying to live their own lives. Staunton is almost robotic. She is very cold, unfeeling, and emotionless. She said 1992 was the most difficult year of her life. This series makes it hard to sympathize with her at all. She seems to be a little frustrated with the situations, but kind of shrugs them off. The actress who plays Diana has been praised, but to me she did not do well at all. This is another person who really went through it during this time frame. The actress who plays Diana makes her quirky, odd, awkward, petty, and really dumb. The best description I can give is like how Kristen Stewart is in the Twilight movies. She does all of those quirky unnatural jerks and stutters, and is just weird. Diana constantly puts on way too much black eye liner and does these unnecessary floor glances constantly. It's supposed to be her being "dough eyed", but it's really laughable, but then starts to get extremely annoying. The actor who Charles doesn't really look like him, and doesn't know what he's trying to be. Everyone else is just kind of there. They don't get enough time to really even give you any impression of them. I don't think the writers even know if they were supposed to be antagonists or protagonists. The past casts did a great job of looking like and even gaining the mannerisms of the characters they were playing. That's not so much the case in season 5.

The pacing and relevance in the past series have been great. They take enough time to inform you of what happened, but not too long to where you lose interest. I feel like they were on par with how much time to spend on each issue. They even threw a few episodes in to discuss controversial topics that not a lot of people knew about, such as the Kennedy episode. In this season the first 3 episodes are like watching paint dry. Nothing really happens. They do an entire episode on the life story of Mohamed Al Fayed. Who cares?! They gloss over EVERY major event happening directly to the main characters in a matter of minutes, sometimes seconds. They talk about Fergie for all of 30 seconds. They never mention Edward, or anything about Andrew. They mention Anne's divorce and desire to be remarried in all of a minute or 2. I would much rather see an episode on Fergie, Andrew, and Anne than Mohamed Al Fayed. Then like I mentioned the infamous 1992 is glossed over in a matter of minutes. They literally could have done a whole season on it. They also spend a lot of time on Charles wanting to modernize royalty, and Camilla Parker Bowles and their "tragic" true love story. They make both of them seem like they have always stood up for what is right, even though they were persecuted for it. And they were just lightly joking and doing what every couple in love should do when their famous conversation was leaked. For the rest of the series, They introduce a topic, then don't elaborate or tell what happened.

Overall this season is just an absolute waste, that does not do the show or the events any justice in any way, shape, or form. It manages to get rid of everything that you love about the series. I can't believe the same person created this season. The difference is night and day, and not in a good way. You never really know which direction things are supposed to go in.

Prison Wives: Annika Powell
(2010)
Episode 1, Season 1

This made me so mad!
This show is hard to watch. So you get this fat piece of trailer trash on Section 8, and won't work because she has to visit her husband, a murderer, in prison. She met AFTER he committed the crime and was in jail, and is having him adopt her kids, and has her kids interact with the murderer like he is their father. She also relocates them every time he changes prisons. She had the nerve to compare them to a military family. She won't let him work in there either, because it would cut their visits short. She's definitely proud of that section 8. Our tax dollars are really at work allowing this woman to chase a murderer all over the US. It's sad that the kids who are not his, have such high exposure and are going to be adopted by this monster. Her excuse, he loved me even though I'm fat and have some sort of short arms...Women like this are just disgusting. His cell mates girl friend messages her to see if she would be his pen pal because he liked her really big boobs...The real victims are the kids.

Queen Sized
(2008)

Horrible Movie!
I am so sick of these movies about fat people mad at the world because they cry about not fitting in as they stuff their fat faces with a non stop smorgasbord throughout the whole movie. They make everyone uncomfortable because if anyone looks in their direction they lose it and accuse everyone of judging them. I was heavy in high school and lost weight, so I'm definitely not judgemental. But this movie made me wish I could slap the mess out of the main character. Everything is poor me, poor me, she has the worst attitude ever, blames the world for her poor life choices, and stuffs her face with every piece of junk food she can get her hands on in the city non stop. Then you hear the whole I try to lose weight, I can't, you don't understand everytime her mom tries to help her get healthier because her dad recently died of Diabetes. This is one of the most irritating movies I have ever seen. It is an hour and a half of an endless self pity party for someone blaming the world for their bad decisions, and making everyone else uncomfortable and insignificant, all while stuffing their face with junk food in every scene.

Tell It to the Bees
(2018)

The Most Unlikeable Main Character Ever
The story is a good story, however I have never hated a main character, especially a child, as much as in this movie. It is centered around one of the women's son Charlie. I hate that kid! He is constantly spying on everyone, and walks around like he owns the world. He in general is a hateful brat in dire need of a beating. He definitely does not know his place as a child, and literally ruins everyone's life and the movie. I would have thoroughly enjoyed a "tragic" ending like in My Girl with the bees. I know that sounds awful, but that's how unlikeable the character is. I also don't understand why they would change the ending. The whole point of the book was to be strong, and be able to love someone even if it's frowned on by society. In the movie they let the prejudiced town people tear them apart, which doesn't go with that idea. The movie isn't completely terrible, but with such an unlikeable character, and an ending that changes the whole plot behind the book, it's definitely disappointing and frustrating.
