Shaft
(2019)

Actually a pretty good movie.
I watched it for the first time tonight. I didn't know anything about it. There were some good chuckles and some action. Lots of profanity and vulgarity.

The closing theme really sucked, though. I hate it. Some classics should NOT be messed with, and the Theme From Shaft is one of those.

The Taking of Pelham One Two Three
(1998)

Too Much Profanity and Vulgar Language
I didn't realize this was a remake. I'm watching the original tonight. I liked the movie. I like anything with Denzel in it. But they didn't have to use so much F this and MF that. They didn't used to make movies that way. That's one thing that's contributing to the moral decline of our society. That's sad. But the movie is good and suspenseful. Definitely worth the watch.

Saul: The Journey to Damascus
(2014)

Story of the Butcher is Butchered
Don't waste your time unless you want to watch a fantasy. I don't know where they came up with this stuff! The only true parts were that the priests liked Saul, but they didn't like Paul. And Saul was afflicted on the road to Damascus. It would have been so easy to make this true to life. All they had to do was open the Bible. But I'd venture to say they're few and far between in Hollywood.

Exodus: Gods and Kings
(2014)

I watched it, but....................
I am reminded of the cook in the 3 Stooges kitchen where the faucet is turning round and round and the stove is spraying water: THIS HOUSE HAS SHO GONE CRAZY!

A little boy as God? No "Take of your shoes. This is holy ground."????

Moses doesn't go to Pharaoh before each plague? This is jut crazy.

It was a well made move. It looked nice. But that's the best I can say about it.

Voyage of the Continents
(2012)

Mezmurizing!
I've watched this documentary 4 times. I find it amazing. If I had seen this while I was a kid, this would have been my career. I've always been an amateur rock hound, but this was a revelation, albeit too late in life. ButI still like to watch it and see if there are signs of tectonics around where I live.

Perry Mason: The Case of the Sinister Spirit
(1987)

Clue Redeux
As I was watching this, I couldn't help but think of Clue (the movie) from two years earlier. Mr. White in the dining room and the chandelier falling and other things. I like Perry Mason in the original series, I find the movies somewhat lacking.

Barney Miller: Jack Soo, a Retrospective
(1979)
Episode 24, Season 5

This episode was really done with class
This episode always gets to me. Never before or since have I seen a series handle the loss of an actor/character with such honor and dignity. You can tell they all loved Jack. As stated above, there are many of his best bits from different episodes. I think Nick was the first Iron Chef. In one of the scenes, Nick is making his lunch. Wojo says it smells like garbage and Nick says it's a delicacy - fish heads, cabbage leaves, carrot tops and cucumber rinds. He thinks a minute, then says, "It IS garbage."

Of course, it was always about his coffee. Everyone had comments about the coffee. According to Wikipedia, his last words were about it:

>On the show there was a running joke that Soo's character made bad coffee. Therefore, his last known words were when he was being wheeled into an operating room and he joked to Hal Linden, referring to his cancer - 'it must have been the coffee'.<

The Big Lebowski
(1998)

F is the most used letter
All the guys at work said I just had to see this movie. I was really looking forward to seeing this movie. I know, I know, I should have seen it years ago. But anyway I started watching it and made it about 15 minutes into the movie. Every other word starts with F. that's just stupid. What could have been a good movie was ruined for me. I always thought Bridges and Goodman were great actors, but since I've seen them in this, my opinion has really dropped. I would have thought they'd have standards.

I don't know if the plot or ending is good. I can't watch it that far. there's no reason for a script to be like that. I'm glad I didn't spend any money to see it.

Emperor
(2012)

Average at best
Billed as a movie about General Douglas MacArthur and WWII, it's not. It's about a lower level general investigating if the emperor is a war criminal, but most of his time is spent looking for his Japanese girlfriend. They make a list of suspects and try to talk to them, but most of them aren't talking. So he goes around and looks and sobs and sobs some more. As far as scenery, many of the buildings are the same, even when they're supposed to be in different towns, so they didn't spend too much on area views.

It's more of a love story, but it fails at that, too. If you can see it for free, you'll get your money's worth.

Stargate SG-1: The Nox
(1997)
Episode 7, Season 1

Great Episode with Great Music
The comments above cover most of the info about the episode. I wanted to point out that the great music you hear when the Nox are around is by a band called 2002 on the album Chrysalis. The song is called Spinning The Silk. To me the music makes the episode.

Armin Shimerman is a great actor and I like everything I've seen him in. This role is quite different than Quark.

The Nox are a complex race, and the team doesn't really understand them and their abilities. It is interesting to see how things develop. There are lots of twists and turns in the story, and it keeps you interested. The ending is not what I expected.
