Captain Fantastic
(2016)

great acting doesn't forgive loopholes
I found this movie to be well intended but filled with a bunch of conflicting views. Yes, homeschooling is awesome, however, it was also portrayed as letting the children end up with poor socialization skills, and they were left thinking that they don't know anything if it wasn't taught in a textbook. The characters were against fascist totalitarianism yet the oldest son (Bo) was a Maoist. How is Mao not the epitome of "the man" they so often talked about sticking it to throughout the movie?

That the grandfather didn't do anything about the children going missing? But they all made it fine to fly out of an airport?

There are way too many inconsistencies in the movie as far as political philosophy and ideologies. But I suppose if you are able to look past that (why they hell would you since it's core to the movie?) then I guess you will enjoy this.

Positive was acting, the idea of the plot, and execution otherwise, but I'd be lying if it didn't irk me to no end that these fundamentals were butchered.

Doug Stanhope: The Comedians' Comedian's Comedians
(2017)

Pete Smith's review is right on - legend and 3 hacks
Stanhope does not have much air-time despite the title of the show. I can't fathom why he's hosting these people. As Pete mentioned, the only so-so guy is the last one, Walsh, and he sucks in the beginning. The rest are indeed cringe worthy. In fact, Pete Smith's review is 9/10 only because I think he was generous giving this 5/10

America: Freedom to Fascism
(2006)

dumbed down info for the average complacent American
As another reviewer posted, the information contained in this film is not new. Having read the works of Edward Griffin, and Irvin Schiff and others, it was a repeat. However, what I think Russo has managed to do successfully is to "dumb it down". Americans today are complacent, ignorant and apathetic.

Hopefully some of this will go through to a nation who is spoon-fed with propaganda to realize there are other truths out there. Call it a conspiracy theory if you want. It's only a theory if it is not true. I have many friends who refuse to accept these facts because they find them simply to be "unbeleivable". How is that grounds to be apathetic about it? If something so shocking is true, people should take the time to go and research it themselves. But they do not. Hence the apathy.

The movie is jumpy, and at times long-winded. But I think it's justifiably so because the subject at hand is long-winded. One poster said that the movie covers two very different subjects. Let me debunk this. They are connected because the same people who run the banks are getting the money from our taxes. That was mentioned very early in the movie. It was said that our taxes are used to pay of our federal debt. The federal banks being private are the ones who are collecting our money. The banks are the cartel that Griffin mentions, or the organized crime they refer to. The people who make the taxes and the IRS an issue are those very same people. But don't take my word for it, watch this movie, and start to get educated.

Ae Fond Kiss...
(2004)

there are better movies of this kind
Having watched several movies of this type before I found nothing in particular that this movie had to add that I haven't seen in other movies earlier. Their concept of time is very loose, and sometimes the viewer has no idea how much time has passed. Character development isn't anything to cheer for, and I'm not even sure I think the story makes sense. I would recommend anyone to view 'Bend it like Beckham' instead as it's much more rewarding. Another annoying thing I found about the movie is that the sex-scenes don't really bring anything to the movie. They seem irrelevant and are there purely for the sex itself. It's not like we feel they bond more.

Shaun of the Dead
(2004)

funny, but not unique
I don't know what else to say but the summary.

The movie is good, but unfortionatly it's not really unique, and has been done before. Still good for a laugh.

The acting is good, and there are some pretty nice filming which seperates the movie a bit from others. However, some splatter films come to mind such as Braindead, and From Dusk Till Dawn.

Most of the scenes in the beginning is where the cool camera tricks fascinated me, but as the film moves on, I didn't see the same excersise of the camera. A pity.

John Doe: Pilot
(2002)
Episode 1, Season 1

cheesy with mistakes
The show is semi interesting. I caught every single episode from the very beginning for quite some time. However, it's filled with cheesy cliches and they make the mistake of having people frequently telling him things he should know (being he's knows all facts). (examples, digger tells him about hacking computers etc).

The Bourne Identity
(2002)

pretty good
Action movie without incredible explosions accompanying every car chase, or whatever. Nicely done. I hope to see more of this type of movie. The reason it didn't get a higher mark was probably because I didn't think it was anything absolutely exceptional. It was entertaining to watch, but it didn't have anything really grabbing.

Queen of the Damned
(2002)

cheesy ripoff of interview with a vampire feel
I found nothing impressive about this movie. The characters were shallow and didn't seem to act naturally in any way. Some nice special effects but nothing amazing. The plot was weak, and the acting certainly didn't win any acadamy awards.

Scooby-Doo
(2002)

not my cup of tea
Movie full of cheesy jokes. For some reason the characters had personalities which had drifted away from the cartoons I remember. Fart-jokes in the movie weren't funny. There were some cute jokes, and i enjoy how they make fun of Scrappy Doo, but mostly poorly written.

With Honors
(1994)

amazing
So i caught this movie in the store and thought I'd give it a go because of Joe Pesci and Brendan Frasier. It's a very rewarding movie about life, and how sometimes we need to step back and see that we're all human. I'll definatly have to commend Brendan on his acting, a great job, and he's won new respect. Heartwarming film.
