Come across this one; read some of the 1 star reviews...Ridiculous. This movies has some good actors who you'll recognize and was very entertaining.

Seriously.

The only remotely interesting thing is the Civic group. Adds a new dimension to the Walking Dead series, but otherwise:

The insufferable goblina known as Iris is ridiculous. Not to be picking people apart, but directors trying to take the woke approach ruin EVERYTHING. She is as effective as...nothing. She has no emotive skills, is dull and milquetoast. She looks awkward in this TV show and feels like she should be in second rate D movies no one ever watches.

Also, her biography is arrogant fluff and purely ridiculous. '...but herself as a person'. That's nice! 'for major television and film GIANTS' no less!

But the most genius declaration of all "She recognizes that acting is really just being openly human". Oh my God this is empty speech with no meaning at all; one can see why they picked this person to lead this TV show. Hollow, bland and zero character building.

Gretel & Hansel (2020)

It's not racist to say 'in Europe there were few black people' and certainly not in the original Hansel and Gretel.

The cinematography is beautiful the dialog simple but elegant.

Overall worth a watch, but the wokeness stares you in the face. You're trying too hard, wokesters...shoving it in our faces while telling us not to overreact...while you're overreacting.

Ragnarok (2020–2023)

This...is...unintentionally hilarious.

Main actor is the male version of Kristen Stewart. Same facial expression throughout the entire movie; and he looks like a potato. Seem to have a low IQ. Maybe it's the meathead look, I dunno.

His brother looks nothing like him, has wrinkles around his eyes and generally looks like he's 30, not a teenager by any stretch of the imagination. Continuity is not too bad, except when he gets in the kid's car and says 'nice wheels' like it's the first time he's been in it...but he was just in it the previous night.

The pale imitation of US 'woke' politics (basically virtue signalling with zero clue about what people are speaking) was not too bad. I found a line laughable when the teacher says 'as long as you don't say that pollution is the fault of old white men' and potato says 'but it is' and they look at each other and snicker. Apparently they have not seen how India, China and some South American nations dispose of their trash. One literally backs a dump truck up to rivers and dumps their trash in it. Those aren't 'old white men'.

Please spare me the mainstream 'cool' of dissing on a group of people because it's trendy.

He can throw a hammer, he is strong but loses to a woman and is apparently really fast.

The clincher was the last scene of the old woman looking on...lol My God this was bad.

Parasite (2019)

Decent movie...but 8.6? Out of 10? No way.

If people are really this starved for quality movies, I am not surprised what with the second-rate retreads Hollywood is doing lately.

However, the actors are all surprisingly likeable despite the content and actions. You feel for them and their situation, but at the same time, I feel the director portrays wealthy people in a very unfair light. It really is the immoral ones who are impacting others' lives with their actions, not the wealthy family.

Overall this is worth a watch, but it is not worth 8.6 stars. Ridiculous.

Color Out of Space (2019)

Great adaptation of one of the most original writers that ever walked Earth

There is something so intrinsically 'other' about Lovecraft's writing; it's a horror category unto itself.

The reason I liked this movie...is that it gets closer to making Lovecraft a little more mainstream. Lovecraft stories...and the movies that are based on them, if done right...are waking nightmares Loved it. If you go into it knowing it's not a huge budget movie, the material, you'll appreciate it much more.

How much longer will 'comics' (and I use the word loosely here) be accepted by the woke crowd as long as they're bland, milquetoast and a complete mirror image of the woke crowd....vs. brave, unrestrained, laugh at everyone, every group, every thing not politically correct which actually makes it F U N N Y?

My God how far we've fallen.

What am I missing? This was confusing, unimaginative, generic.

I can only assume fans of the video game (enough said) are rating it high, but this was generic, paint-by-numbers. It jumps years, doesn't explain a little...zero effort in continuity.

I feel bad for Henry Cavill. The best part of this travesty of a serieis.

Apparently a lot, as this is nowhere near the quality of GOT....

I'm not a fan boy of anything, but this is formulaic from the first episode. I tried following, but I have no idea what's going on. There's a princess, but she was evil, but she wasn't, so he killed her, so he's a bad man...while another little princess screams alot and runs away. Did that battle happen realtime to the Witcher or in the past?

Pass.

On half of the glowing reviews here, they are all by people who have been a member for a day and have reviewed precisely ONE movie and you guessed it...this one.

This was an amateur movie in all aspects and not scary at all. The kid was wooden acting and clearly a small budget.

Lucky Man (2016–2018)

Wanted to like this...but..really? "lucky"? No, it's not.

He's always having bad luck.

What's the point? The climax episodes are a joke from season 1 and 2. They build it up just to let it fizzle out and their partner from season 1? First partnering with bad guy then suddenly he's ok?

Meh. Stupid writing.

Another Life (2019–2021)

Bubble gum sci-fi, worth a watch if you LOVE sci-fi

Is it utterly believable? No.

Is it entertaining? Yes.

Does it get better after the first and second episodes? Yes.

It kept me engrossed as to where it was going.

It did what I love - Take new worlds and show different effects of alien flora and fauna on human beings. Original, creative and entertaining.

Propaganda, even though the acting is good. The cinematography is pretty good too, but in terms of the other 'Into The Dark' series, pretty much on par with overall attention keeping. Mediocre film.

This was literally one of the worst movies I have ever seen.

The humor is not funny, it's pointless. How they tricked people like Selena Gomez to have a 2 minute scene...or anyone else remotely famous is beyond me.

Bill, you need to stop drinking.

I'm waiting for the the next director to say 'Here, hold my beer' in regards to how horrible this movie is.

It's pure, unmitigated in personal self-indulgence for the writer/director. ALL FINGER, THUMBS AND TOES DOOOOOWN.

Dark Phoenix (2019)

I went with my two nephews and all 3 of us stayed attentive the entire movie and we all agreed it was pretty good.

It's a different kind of 'super hero' movie but the effects were great, the acting was solid, the story was fine.

Assimilate (I) (2019)

This is similar to a book I've read...it doesn't go into the background about 'how' or 'why' and THAT'S what makes this way better than 'Bodysnatchers', so a couple points off for that.

They hint at a couple of things but you have to pay attention.

This was a surprisingly good movie, despite the other posters' poor ratings.

If you like sci-fi, if you like creative, if you enjoy escapism, check it out. It's at least a 6, worth your time.

I mean really people - 'diversity' in full-effect. Can you maybe not try so hard?

Making the white kid a 'ginger' and nerdy? Making the black kid a young womanizer? Sexual jokes with kids in the 13, 14 age range? Heavy duty curse words?

Crude, horrible graphics and lacks the spirit that kids' movies from the 80's had.

I've seen several reviews mentioning being 'Woke' 'SJW' etc.

Well, this sort of thinking is bland, tired and people are getting tired of it. Putting virtue-signalling into EVERY SINGLE EPISODE, MOVIE, all forms of entertainment which is supposed to be a form of creative escapism is causing people to turn the channel and tune out.

If there were at least some creative sparks behind these bland, beige-infused episodes in addition to the woke preaching, maybe I would have enjoyed them.

One episode that was done well, in my very humble opinion, was with the black mom/son in the diner. While I know that less black people are killed by cops than white people and while I know that black CHILDREN are being killed all of the time for shoes, caught in the crossfire of drug dealers, I don't see BLM protesting these things, etc...the sense of unavoidable tragedy was filmed pretty well and came across loud and clear.

I have stopped watching once I received the message that white people are bad or don't exist anymore.

The Music Box (2018)

The acting wooden, unprofessional, lingering camera shots that make the actors feel extremely awkward.

Formulaic 'horror', with a small home, some cheesy gargoyles you can purchase anywhere and silly statue photos hung in the home.

I wanted to stop playing it but a family member was having fun laughing at this poor imitation of a movie.

Literally, do not bother.

A Better Life (2011)

Good movie...but guess what...still skirting the law that others must follow

Yes, these are human beings..with blood and soul, and they have every right to live and have a good life.

But there are laws for a reason, there's a reason Canada won't let people with a dui on their driving record into the country: they have a sovereign right and duty to protect the people who already live there.

Same goes for the United States. Who is crossing the border with what disease? Which is a rapist, a murderer or even a pedophile, an alcoholic that may drink and drive and kill someone? YOU DON'T know. YOU have to go through a drug test and background check to be employed, the illegal immigrants don't. We cannot just throw our doors open, because any huge unnatural inflation does damage to the environment, the economy (see hospital estimates for treating illegals in California alone) and much more.

With that said, the movie was a solid endeavor and the primary actors did a fantastic job, much better than some other 'actors' and so-called movies currently at the theater. I recommend the movie to others, but I completely disagree with the political message weaved throughout.

Mother's Day (I) (2010)

I came across this movie out of the blue, and I'm really happy I did.

I wasn't expecting much because of the name, 'Mother's Day'; it sounds like a cheap production.

Let me say that I enjoyed this move way more than the remake of "I Spit On Your Grave" and "Last House on the Left".

I was disappointed to see that it only has a 6 star rating, while the other 2 are slightly higher.

The movie does start out a bit slow but if you hang with it until the end there are a few scenes that made this old horror movie lover wince, and that's saying a lot.

The acting was pretty solid, and Rebecca Demornay was absolutely fantastic.

See it if you enjoyed Last House on the Left.

Forever Strong (2008)

Forever Strong...Nice movie, but tries to be more than it is

The acting is solid across the board, but it feels a bit hacked together, and the dialogue is very cheesy at times.

"If I can't see my boys be the champions they are" is a line repeated twice in the movie, the first time to good effect, the second...sounded as out of place a Harry Potter in a war movie. There are many examples of this out of place dialogue.

The main character was the best actor, and was convincing as a rugby player. The supporting cast was also very believable as a rugby team. Maybe some of the skepticism I had towards the film was the fact that it just didn't 'feel' as if it had any gravity throughout. It all felt like just an exercise in "let's do an inspiring sports movie and see what happens.

Still, the 2 other adults I saw this with enjoyed the movie overall, and for that, I rated it a '6'.

The Last Exorcism (2010)

Solid movie - Unexpected ending (Potential spoiler, but NOT the ending)

This was a boys' night out: my older brother (48), me (36) and my nephew (11).

Verdict? All 3 of us enjoyed the movie, and even accepted the ending that some people complained about.

This is a fresh sort of 'horror' movie, offering something a bit different. In my opinion, "The Last Exorcism" was a movie where modernity and vintage meet. The sense was that it made you feel safe by the rational thought, and exposing of so-called Exorcist charlatans by the main character, but ultimately it ended with a sense of Rosemary's Baby.

Again, this is just my opinion, but he movie hooked me from the beginning and didn't let go until the credits started. The acting was solid, the dialog interesting, and yes: the ending was appropriate, IMHO.

The people whining about the ending are either unimaginative, or like their movies wrapped up in a pink bow with pretty ponies stamped on it.

The abrupt ending was *not* abrupt; it was totally solid and because it wasn't necessarily a happy ending doesn't make it a cheat.

I also consider it an insult to relate this movie to The Blair Witch Project, although parts are reminiscent BECAUSE the movie DOES tie up the ending more-so than TBWP.

I'm one of those people who don't like it when there's not a happy ending, but I can honestly say I don't feel cheated or let down.

It's a horror movie, deal with the ending.

100 Feet (2008)

Fans of Nicole Kidman's "The Others" will enjoy this

I rented this for 2 reasons: 1)I enjoy looking at Famke Janssen :) 2)I love ghost movies I never expect much from movies that aren't advertised, but this was a gem. The director employs a great soundtrack (and in some places just silence) to fantastic effect. The camera-work is nice, and a bit schizophrenic but not enough to make you sick (e.g. Cloverdale, and its shaky camera work).

The house they chose for filming had a great film presence, and really contributed greatly to the eerie feel of the movie.

The special effects were fine; they weren't 'grade A' but they served their purpose, and were quite effective.

Famke does a great job even though she has a majority of the film on screen all by herself.

Me, and the other people watching it with me jumped more than once, and we all agree it was a solid film. If you enjoyed "The Others", you'll enjoy this.

I agree with another poster when they said "100 Feet" has one of the most gruesome, haunting, brutal death scenes..It's HORRIBLE and filled me with dread. Wow.

RENT THIS!!!
