Plandemic
(2020)

Tinfoil Hat Tour de Force
Most of the premises in Plandemic were difficult to swallow in the first half of 2020. It hasn't aged well since.

My inclination was to give this a single star due to the propensity of its ideas to kill people. Since it is smartly done murder, I upped to two stars.

The Christmas Chronicles: Part Two
(2020)

This Movie Hits its Target
My wife and I watched this movie with our two kids, age 9 and 10. Both kids enjoyed the movie and there was enough to keep the interest of the adults as well. This movie is not trying to be The Godfather or Shawshank Redemption, a distinction that appears to have escaped the attention of some reviewers. It is a Christmas movie geared towards families and kids. It is not as good as the first installment of this series, but is worth watching if you are looking for a family-oriented Christmas movie.

Knives Out
(2019)

Engaging and Entertaining
Imagine if Alfred Hitchcock adapted an Agatha Cristie novel. This was my thinking walking out of the theater. Based upon a look at some other reviews, mine is not an isolated thought. There are a number of great individual performances, tied together by a great overall production.

The Christmas Chronicles
(2018)

A Good Candidate to become a Christmas Classic
This movie was very enjoyable for adults and kids in the family. Cinematic quality was excellent, had a good script, acting was great, and the Santa character is the best I've seen or read since The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe. We'll watch this again a few times this Christmas season.

Extinction
(2018)

Sophisticated Plot, Decent Result
I didn't read any reviews before watching the movie. I was fairly impressed with the plot twist and thought the execution (quality) of the movie was ok. Some other reviewers had a negative reaction to the kids, and I did also for a while. Once the viewer understands who/what the kids are, it is a little easier to cut the characters some slack.

Celsius 41.11: The Temperature at Which the Brain... Begins to Die
(2004)

A Reasonably Well-Done Rip-Off
I am always a little suspicious when I see a movie or book title that is obviously a rip-off of a successful or well-known work. That said, this "movie" isn't too bad. Being a person that leans towards the right side of the aisle, this is not arousing any great negative emotion. The commentators are mainstream conservatives (no black-helicopter-warning kooks). Some of the points of view given are ones that have occurred to me, but have not received much mention in other media.

While F911 is the liberal equivalent of Falwell's "The Clinton Chronicles", C41.11 falls short of hysteria. That said, liberals are still going to hate it, because of the points of view given.

Worth the time to watch if someone loans it to you. I would probably not buy it.

Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow
(2004)

Movie has a very interesting look and feel
I had not read about the movie before watching it and was fascinated within the first several minutes and continued to enjoy it through to the end. This movie's unique look and feel is its primary vehicle.

If you are looking for a sophisticated plot, this movie was not made for you. The plot and acting were adequate enough to avoid ruining the visual picture. The makers applied a comic book feel to the movie that allowed for softer edges and sepia tones, both with the animated sets and the human characters. If a set does not look completely realistic, the viewer is not troubled because the set is consistent with everything you see in the movie.

Anyone who has ever edited video or worked with animation would have to appreciate the visual art and quality of this movie. Otherwise, it contains a decent story that would be worth watching at least once.

O Brother, Where Art Thou?
(2000)

Great integration of music
I found this movie to be very enjoyable and was fascinated with the almost surreal integration of music within the movie.

The movie manages to poke fun at many things in a playful, but effective way. The "Brothers-three" raid on the KKK lynching and the resulting dissentegration of the grand dragon's political career is a wonderful example of such commentary.
