Tracker
(2024)

Super Intrigued for this new show BUT annoyed because of Super Bowl delay...
I had Hulu set to record the first episode tonight, starting after The Super Bowl. But since the game went into overtime I had the hardest time of trying to record the show, and watch it...blah blah. (Tracker was no longer listed in the "live" tv options. Also, streaming DVR services don't adjust when Live TV changes..mehh) After unsuccessfully hopping between Paramount Plus, and the CBS app, I was finally able to finish watching the show on Hulu. It was just a process. Which was annoying BECAUSE the show was INTRIGUING!! I want more! While some things in the story line felt a bit predictable, the acting, landscape and overall story really pulled me in and I want more!!!! After watching ALL the seasons of Law N Order and Criminal Minds like 15 times each, I'm yearning for tv thriller/crime/mystery solving, that is NOT a True Crime Documentary.

I'm excited!!

The Menu
(2022)

Calm down viewers, it's a dark satire.
While explanations of the oddities of this movie would've been great, stories don't HAVE to have a rhyme or reason. They require a beginning, middle and end. This movie has that. Yes the script is twisted. You don't have to be a sicko to enjoy the film but it helps to accept that a dark satire will be exactly what it's supposed to be. We're you looking for an episode of Friends? Pretty Woman, with a struggle then fairy tale ending? This movie is not that. The acting was superb. The film was visibly quite pleasing. I enjoyed that it made me question what was going on in this story. As a lover of laugh out loud comedies, British mysteries and scripted crime shows, this film was a pleasant change from my norm. I would recommend it to anyone who is looking for a good movie to watch, UNLESS they were seeking the meaning of life from ANY film. If you are the movie goer searching for life's answers, this is not the movie for you. If you are someone who looks to FaceBook and Social Media to get "factual" news, or to engage in online banter, this film is not for you. And finally, if you have never read a book, out of your own pure desire to just read a fictional novel, this movie is not for you. You've got to have an imagination and be open minded to try something new and accept it for being exactly what it was advertised to be. Have a Happy New Year.

Grown·ish: Demons
(2021)
Episode 3, Season 4

This Grown-ish Fan couldn't even finish this episode :(
I'll have to go back and watch this episode later, maybe when the pandemic is ACTUALLY OVER! I got almost through the whole episode with a couple minutes left but I am so annoyed with it.

I get that this show is fiction. But the writers try to address a lot of real life stuff in real time. And this time, they failed.

Spoiler Alert: Zoe's narration opens in this episode talking about the pandemic, what it was like, but "now" everyone can get back to normal.

Reality Alert: The Pandemic IS STILL GOING ON! Even though vaccinations began what I hoped would be more normalcy in life, Covid cases are up, vaccinations are down, and California of all places, is looking at reinstating safety restrictions.

On this episode folks were just walking round maskless like "it ain't no thang". When in the world is this supposed to be taking place? Oh! Maybe the show is referring to some OTHER WORLDWIDE PANDEMIC?!?!?

I've really enjoyed this tv show and I'm almost 41 years old. I don't know if young adults are feeling like we are in a POST Pandemic place, like the writing suggests??? The show has tackled real issues, like it's predecessor, Black-ish, and I have appreciated that. However IF the show is gonna act like there is a pandemic going on, then be real with it.

This episode disappointed me. I couldn't even allow myself to be entertained because the realest thing about the story is that unfortunately too many people ARE walking around like there is not a crisis going on, so cases are rising, people are dying, mental health is NOT good, job loss, life loss, generation of children affected by Digital Learning and a world population that IS not out of the woods yet.

And I am ashamed to admit that I am disappointed in some of the actor's on this show, who I've admired for using their voices to support political causes and influence others. I wonder if they had any objections to airing this episode at this time?

Next time Grown-ish, just leave real life out of the script cause this one was a distasteful miss.

Law & Order: Special Victims Unit: Missing Pieces
(2011)
Episode 5, Season 13

GOOF SPOILER!
When detectives go to the park to find the panhandler who sold the missing baby's car seat, there a spread on the ground of other baby stuff that would have been in the stolen car too. There's a huge pack of diapers right there in the mix! I figured one of the detectives would surely mention that "if the parents already had diapers, why would the mom need to go to a store and buy diapers, which inadvertently gets the baby kidnapped?"

Black Mirror: Smithereens
(2019)
Episode 2, Season 5

Well done!
First of all, I am not comparing this episode to other episodes of Black Mirror, I've seen a few. Each story stands on its own and should be reviewed as an individual.

Yes the story seemed slow at points but it was relevant in building up what was truly happening.

As a person who is glued to my smart phone for its many uses, not a social media fan, but addicted to the technology non the less, this story was very relevant and real to me.

SPOILER: The story is about technology, modern society, guilt, grief, social media and mental health.

The reviews that blow it off as just one of those elements are not painting a full picture.

The only thing that bothered me about this story were that those two bicycle boys were STILL at the scene long after police told them to go home. Just annoying. Dangerous. And of course, the boys were watching three scenes unfold before them while glued to their phones.

The Binge
(2020)

The needed laugh!
Alas, after months of quarantine, streaming anything and everything, FINALLY something NEW and funny! While the movie was sometimes predictable, or too slapstick for my my taste, the writing made up for it with some clever one liners that drove the humor home. Vince Vaughn is always ridiculously funny, like he doesn't even have to try. And the concept of one night of craziness, helps when, face it, quarantine has got many of us losing our minds! Spoiler Alert: The musical scene, was done perfectly! Could have been too corny, but the sensational drug clad horn ball lyrics were poetic! This movie will replace She's All That, for the teen movie of our day!!

Work It
(2020)

I'd def watch it again
Dance movies are predictable And while I wasn't expecting this movie to be filled with new ideas I was decently surprised by how good I felt watching it. Even streaming services are boring me during Covid, and everything in life looks gloomier, this movie was some much needed enjoyment. Funny but not hilarious, lively, made me want to dance and wake my sleeping kids up to dance with me. The eye candy was niiiiiiiiiiice too! Thank you Netflix!

Knives Out
(2019)

Wow!
Like Agatha's mysteries, so intriguing! Some of Sherlock's humor...Bright colors and cuteness of brown eyed brunette like Amelie...

Well frickin done!

Marple: Why Didn't They Ask Evans?
(2009)
Episode 4, Season 4

Not the Marple I am used to :(
I love every British mystery show I've ever seen. And I've watched most of the other episodes of Agatha Christie's Marple. However the acting and story for "Why Didn't They Ask Evans" left me wanting more. I kept replaying scenes in hopes that maybe I'd missed something in the story telling. It's true that I rarely solve Marple's cases before she does, but it wasn't the mystery that left me, well, mystified. The relationship between the sluthers was tossed together and underdeveloped. I realize the shows' writers must have quite a task to constantly place Marple and friends near so many murders. And the writers usually leave me astounded by their crafting skills. This time I wasn't buying it. For the Savage family to so quickly and willingly take in Frankie, then Marple and Bobby for an extended amount of time...just weird. Yes it was different times but I've found that with some more adequate story details, I would have been pondering over the actually mystery, not the gaps in the story. Oh well! On to the next episode.

Real Husbands of Hollywood
(2013)

I could rewatch these episodes forever!
Kevin Hart is such a fool! Anybody who can make fun of themselves like he allows the writers to do, is THEEEE BEST! It doesn't matter how many times I've seen the episodes, I still laugh, LOUD! The cast has the best chemistry and the concept is so clever. I wish it still came on with new episodes. Reruns airing, during Coronavirus quarantine, is just what I needed. The female comedians on the show are hilarious too. Love it!

A Cinderella Story: Christmas Wish
(2019)

Feeling the Christmas Magic!
I don't go gah gah for Christmas movies. I watch, but expect little, from Netflix made holiday movies. But this movie warmed my heart and had me smiling the whole time. Sure we know the story of Cinderella, but in this movie, I couldn't wait to see what would happen next! Loved it! The main characters were well portrayed and adorable. And the step family was over the top, but hey, they couldn't ruin the overall movie or the performance!

Nobody's Fool
(2018)

Much enjoyed
I typically don't enjoy Tyler Perry movies. However this rom com kept my interest, made me smile and made me laugh. It dragged on a bit but I'd watch it again. The actors were good, funny, believable.

Unicorn Store
(2017)

Absolute Perfection
The story. Kit. Her uniqueness. Her inability to conform. Her own artistic eye. Shot beautifully. Real but cinematic yet simple. Colorful and bright and overly "bedazzled" when the world is in khakis. Her belief. Virgil's belief The Salesman belief and journey he sets Kit on. I felt like my story was being told.

I'm speaking in fragments, and I'm okay with that. The movie made me happy and sad. I loved it!
