...and I am wondering what took me so long. Okay, I do know, it was not exactly something that was heavily advertised for the NES and I am not one hundred percent sure it came out in the United States on the NES. Another reason I did not play it is because while it was released here on the Turbo Duo CD this system flew under the radar here. Not sure why, as playing the system it blows both the NES and Master System out of the water and holds up well against the Genesis and SNES. I mean, look at Castlevania: Rondo of Blood and is better than the version released on the SNES (I like the SNES version btw) and looks better than Bloodlines on the Genesis. I am sure Ys looks immensely better on this system than the NES and the music is amazing and it has animated cut scenes!
The story has an adventurer named Adol arriving at a port and immediately being thrust into an adventure which will have him collecting the books of Ys, saving the people of the land and learning the mysteries of the land! There are many dungeons to explore and a good amount of people to talk to and who offer you help as an evil plan unfolds.
This game consist of the first two Ys games. The game play for each game has about the same mechanics with the addition of magic during the second game being the main difference. The combat consists of bump combat which you get used to and solving some mysteries. The first game is pretty straightforward; however, book II was a bit harder as the dungeons were very large and some of the clues vague. Still, very winnable without help and rewarding when I finished the game.
So it looks pretty good and the music is outstanding. The voices during some of the cut scenes is sometimes hard to hear due to the music, but overall understandable. Thankful for emulation so I could play the Turbo Graphics version as I am finding so many of the games on it super fun. This one is one of the best ones I've played and I am looking forward to playing part 3!

I would classify this one as more of a thriller, rather than a slasher/horror film. Granted, there is a part near the end of the film that resembles something from a horror film, but it also felt out of place. This one had some entertaining qualities as it had Robert Forster who is usually good in this type of role and it was cool watching him try and find the creepy killer, but at times it veered into boring territory and pointless territory with unneeded subplots and characters.
The story has a guy kill a prostitute to open the film. Soon Forster is on the case and his ex who is a reporter goes insane trying to load the killer into striking. Meanwhile, the killer is rich and buys her station which kind of was pointless. Then a guy knows this dude is a killer and instead of telling the police he decides to do a little blackmail. Still, Robert Forster keeps getting closer and so does the reporter ex, dangerously so.
I like Robert Forster here and the guy who was Shaft is good as the chief. The reporter is annoying and the killer is okay. He gets more creepy as the film progresses. Still, the film needed more as it is just feels like it is missing a crucial ingredient.
So, I did not mind watching this one, but it was far from a good film. Forster carries the film, a couple of kills though nothing all that great as the killer uses a crossbow. Some nudity in this one as well. Kind of entertaining, but in a generic 80s movie kind of way.

This film is made by the same director as the one who did Lycan Colony. This one is both better than that film and worse at the same time. It has a bit better looking werewolf and the plot is less goofy; however, Lycan Colony has a bit more going on and therefore does not get as boring as this one does.
The story has a man who looks like Santa taking his wife to the middle of nowhere for a drink on their anniversary. She is abducted and seemingly killed by some beast in the woods. Flash ten years later and Santa has been reelected sheriff and killings begin taking place. Santa and his deputy, who looks like Elon Musk with a neck beard, teams up with a guy with a YouTube channel named Raven Nevermore to try and find the beast!
The acting is bad, but a bit better than Lycan Colony. The sheriff does alright, but the deputy is out of place and the YouTube guy is extremely hammy. Once again, the werewolf looks okay, but you barely see it in this film.
So the film is a bit boring and one wishes there is some more gore, but there is a twist or two to kind of make things interesting. No attractive girls in this one at all, no one cute like the girl who climbs the side of houses in Lycan Colony. So nothing good at all, just a very cheaply made werewolf film with a few surprises I guess.
