Keys to the Heart
(2023)

The best Filipino Film I have ever seen
I've watched many Filipino Films, in general they focus on crime and the poverty. Which is not good for the Philippines. It was nice to see something different. Dolly De Leon gave a wonderful performance as always. The main star of the film was the young actor who played an autistic boy. His acting was very believable. I am sure that it was not an easy job for him. In the Philippines Boxing is a national sport. So of course it makes sense to have boxing in the film. The fight coordination was excellent. The cinematography was very well done. Most Filipino films are a tad dark, unless its a rom -com. This is not a typical Filipino film.

Warrior
(2019)

Great stunts, martial arts. Well action period show.
I hope that this is not taken in the wrong way. I really like this series. However as a 3rd generation San Franciscan I did not feel that it really showed San Francisco. Filmed in Cape Town I believe. What happened to the hills? San Francisco has hills and fog. I know it was pre 1906 Earthquake but still not San Francisco. Even Chinatown has hills.

The writers seemed to have tried to make a show that would appeal to a certain audience. Younger martial arts fans. The dialog was very 21st century. San Francisco always had a corrupt mayor. The writer seemed to draw on the novel 1906 for some inspiration.

Spiderhead
(2022)

Chris Hemsworth can act !
Well, I must say I was blown away by Chris Hemsworth. I have only kind of watched one of his films. He did such a great job creating an American scientist. I forgot he was Australian. He can act , This must of been a challenging role for him. The script was well written but feel a little short at the end. I would like to see Chris Hemsworth do more off beat roles. He tends to focus on action. I have never seen the other actors before. But I will look out for them in the future. The set was a little bland but then it is suppose to be permission. I would like to see Chris Hemsworth and his brother in the same film.

Love Again
(2023)

Would never happen in real life.
I only watched this because of Sam Heughan. I wanted to see if he could break away from Outlander. Sorry to say I think he will end up like William Shanter. Always Jamie. The chemistry bettween the leads was horrible. So Sad. I wanted it to be good. The story would never of happend in real life. Why did Pruanka always wear a dress? It seemed a bad wardrobe choice. I gave it 2 stars one for effort and one because I guess I feel bad if I don't. I'm not sure where it was filmed, but it seemed at times like Toronto. The saving grace was Celine Dion. It was nice to see her get out of her confort zone.

Thai Cave Rescue
(2022)

I was glued to this series
This series must of been a real challange to make. It was so realistic and kept me on edge. Even though I knew the story. The children even though I watched it in Thai, were amazing. The underwater scenes were so well filmed. I am unsure if the the actors from the US Uk and Australia were actors or real divers with SEAL training. But all were good. I watched the real story a bit after but I found it took away from the series. It was sad to read about the lead actor who passed away.as I would like to have seen him in other films. I hope that all of the kids both the real.ones and the actors have a wonderful life ahead of them.

Almost Paradise
(2020)

Season 2 a winner!
Season 2 is so much better than season 1. The writing and acting have improved 100%. It has light hearted moments mixed with so real facts about the Philippines. I really enjoyed the World War 2 episode. The Filipino World War 2 vets never got all the payment offered by the US after the War. It took until 2008 for them to get reconition. It's nice to see a show that does not just show the poverity in the Philippines. Sure they have pockets of slums but in general people live well. They enjoy life, food and family. Of course the 3 B's Boxing, basketball and beauty pagents. Good job all round !!

The Mustang
(2019)

The Netflix labeled it a French Film ,
I added this film to my list as I thought it was French. Boy was I suprised. I was hooked from the start. Matthias Schoenarts is fantastic. I did not reconise him. He can do just about anthing. Great cinematography. Awesome sound effects. It must not of been an easy film to shoot. Working with horses indoors sometimes. Requires skills beyond filming. It takes skills as an animal tranier. I do not think they used "Movie Horses". Roman the lead character draws you into his life. I really wan to see more of Matthias work in the other flms that he has made. They are hard to find. It is hard to imagine that he is from Belgum.

Madre Solo hay Dos
(2021)

Second season lost it.
I really had fun with the first season. The acting was suburb. The characters and script kept my interest. The second season well... It was like the writers did not know what to do with the characters so they made them lesbians'. The chemistry was all off. The final episode was like they just wanted to get it over with. Everyone was fighting all the time. It could of been so much better. They had a good idea to start. Why ruin it ? It also made me think that everyone in Mexico was super rich and lived in beautiful houses and Condos. That they all work in the Technology industry. With high paying jobs.

I Used to Be Famous
(2022)

Need a box of tissue . A charming find of a film.
I knew nothing about the actors when I watched this film. They were totally brilliant. So natural. I lived in the North of London growing up as a kid then later as a college student . I gave it 9 stars as the script was a little predictable. It still had me crying at the end. I m curious if the lead actor did the singing. The young boy must of taken some lessons. They did such an amazing job and made the script work. I would love to find out what happened to Vince. Did he or did he not? The nice thing is that they found each other , I will not give the ending away But it could of been a little longer.

Triangle of Sadness

God Bless Filipino OFW's
Where would would we be without Filipino Overseas workers? I always say of you need a job done right hire a Filipino. They work in all the Hotels around the world, hospitals, Cruise ships, Dolly De Leon proves it this film. I went into this film not knowing much about the story line. It starts out a little slow, then really picks up after they get on the Yacht. Don't give up on it. I wrote a screenplay with an almost all Filipino cast. I hope that more films will include Filipino actors in their cast. From what I understand is that there was little script. Mostly improve. Woody Haralson did a great job as a mostly drunk Captain.

Father Stu
(2022)

Transformational Mark Walberg
Mark Walberg is superb. Watching his transformation in this film is like watching a miracle. The Casting was right on spot. Both Mel Gibson and Walberg. A very Well written screenplay. Mark Walberg deserves an Oscar for his performance. I really felt like God or what you choose to call it was working behind the scene filming this. I learned what Forgiveness is about from the few scenes between Gibson and Walberg, This is what good filmmaking is all about. It teaches you. The best film that Mel Gibson has done since A Year of Living Dangerously. This film is perfect . From start to finish. Good .

The Adam Project
(2022)

To much punch and not enough heart
I really wanted to like this film. But the screenplay was pretty bad. I guess it's a children's film? I could not really tell. I normally really love Ryan Reynolds, and Mark Rufalo. The director relied to much on the action scenes to make up for a poorly written script.

Virgin River
(2019)

Unrealistic screenplay, cast and visuals
I really enjoyed the first Season. I'm having a hard time with the new season. It's clear that the screenwriters and casting directors have never been to Humboldt County or up State California. The setting is near Eureka, CA. I live in Northern CA. I've been there several times. It's mostly Rednecks, Hippies, Latino farm workers, and now legal Cannabis growers. It's not diverse at all. Very few Asians and Blacks. It's rural. The casting department added what looks like LA Hollywood types. They added a new character that is ethnically diverse. The writers seem to not make up their mind "Is it a Medical drama or detective story"? They cram to many scenes in one episode. The only reason that I keep watching it is the Actors are wonderful. They try their best to work around the badly written material. Plus the visuals are wonderful, even though it's mostly Green screen. Once Cannabis became legal, it seemed to change the story line. Perhaps they need to add a new perspective on the story.

The Bubble
(2022)

I needed a GOOD laugh!
The Pandemic hit filmmakers super hard. Most of us wondered if we should throw in the towel. It was great to see a funny take on day to day filming during the worst of the Pandemic. I've only ever seen a couple of these actors before, of course David Dochovney from the X files. If you don't work in film and have never been on set you might not understand the humor. This is a film for people that work on films.

Loin des hommes
(2014)

Worth sticking it out.
I almost gave up after the 1st 15 min. It was so slow to start. Then it got better in the 2nd act. Much better in the 3rd act. Interesting story about a War and Country that I knew very little about.

Outlander
(2014)

Native Americans? Not
I love Outlander, it's by far my favorite series. I'm now on Season 6. Happy to revisit the characters. However, the casting department should of used actual native Americans. The actors are the whitest Indians I have ever seen. You think that they could of auditioned some Native Americans for the parts. Or even used Filipinos they would of looked real.

The Power of the Dog
(2021)

Boring and Slow
One of the slowest films I have ever sat through. Benedict Cumberbatch was good but not his best. It seemed that the actors did the best they could with the material. I figured out the ending in the first 10 minutes. It was no brainer.

Red Notice
(2021)

Worth Watching
Ryan Reynolds was excellent with his quick wit. The dialog in the script would of been lost without him. It had way to many chase and fight scenes and could of been cut down by 30 minutes. I guess the writer/director was trying to have the Fast and Furious look. The story was interesting , but I couldn't understand why they had to take so long in finding the egg. You did not really get a feel for the characters until the end.

Cowboy Bebop
(2021)

What the heck Big disapointment
I really wanted to like this show but only managed to make it to 10 minutes. The acting was horrible! Have any of the actors ever studied acting? The 1st episode screenplay was along the line of a student film. I guess it will do well for Martial Arts viewers an those who like lots of CG in films. I can't understand why it's even considerd for an award. Perhaps it's for the 16 to 18 year old audience.

Jiu Jitsu
(2020)

Wow what a waste of money and Talent
So Sad to see Nicolas Cage make a cheezy martial arts film. The screenplay was very badly writen and the actors were second rate. Although I think they tries to do their best with a poorly written script. The visuals were okay, but thats not saying much.

Pandemiocracy
(2021)

Interresting point of view
The Director Ruben Maria Soriquez did a great job of stating the facts. His approach was personal, and could of been a little more emotional. The interviews were really good and I learned allot about what happened in Italy, in the begining of the Pandemic. Excellent editing.

Hunt for the Wilderpeople
(2016)

This has to be on of the best films of 2021!
I loved this film. Sam Neil gives an excellent performance. Very different from his usual roles. But it's the young boy who carries the film. It reminded me of Whale Rider. Where they cast an unknown actress in the lead. New Zealand has an exceptional range of talent.

Away
(2020)

It is what it is .
I'm probably the only person to give this series a good review. This is not a documentary. It's a story about family. The screenplay was very well written and kept me wanting more. It gave me hope during a difficult time. The acting is excellent . Great set design. I was surprised that it was filmed in BC. I would of guessed New Mexico,

Timeless
(2016)

Ministerio del Tiempo Ministery of Time,
I only saw one episode of this show . So I'm not an expert. I am a huge fan of the Spanish television show Ministry of Time on which it was based. I hope to stream more. From what I saw the set design and costumes were excellent.

El ministerio del tiempo
(2015)

Waiting to see 2020 ! What's up Netflix?
I know that they have new episodes but NETFILX is not showing them . Sad for us fans that live outside of Spain. I love this series. Hope to see more ASAP.
