Are You Afraid of the Dark?
(1990)

Another Good Old Nickelodeon Series of the 90's
Are You Afraid of the Dark is horror/fantasy/sci-fi children anthology show about tweens and teenagers who called themselves The Midnight Society. Each ones tells scary tale every night at the campfire.

I like the series after school (before Goosebumps was release in 1995). I like Gary who is in charge of the Midnight Society, I also liked him when I was small. He's the most interesting ones out of them.

My favorite episodes are The Tale of the Ghastly Grinner, The Night Shift, Laughing in the Dark, Crimson Clown, Dead Man's Float, Apartment 214, Mystical Mirror, Water Demons, The Hatching, Captured Souls, Twisted Claw, Nightly Neighbors, Dark Dragon, The Thirteenth Floor & Closet Keepers. I didn't like the episode "The Tale of the Hungry Hounds" I found that episode was boring or the one with ghost boy with Melissa Joan Hart.

The show had better production and scarier. I have nothing against Goosebumps (I like Goosebumps), but the series has cheesy special effects.

Overall, this is worth re-watching for those who grow up in the 1990s or feels nostalgia to watch it.

Tales from the Darkside
(1983)

Tales from the Crypt is so much better
I only remember looking at this when I was smaller in the early '90s when used to show reruns on Sci-Fi Channel. The series has the scary intro that everyone remember, and I only remember two episodes (the ones with Jean Marsh and other episode with Robert Forster).

Now rewatching it again from last year (2023), the series is rather mediocre. It has hit-and-miss episodes because their low-budget, not good writing and the acting is either over-the-top or bad. They have few good episodes mainly the Halloween episodes and the rest are full under okay-ish.

The truth is Tales from the Crypt is the winner (another one I grow up watching) because of a better budget. Overall, the series is not the best, it still watchable if you a fan of silly moments like me.

Five Nights at Freddy's
(2023)

PG-13 Horror version of Chuck E. Cheese's
Five Night at Friday's is based on the popular horror video game of the same name. It about a security guard gets a job at now abandoned "Chuck E. Cheese" place. While learn about the place with local policewoman he discovered there something sinister about their animatronics.

Okay movie, but nothing special. Not worthy of a Razzie award it more of future cult following/favorite.

The problem with this film is the writing. It has slow pace, too many dream sequences and personal problems than a scary movie. It is creepy but made little to no sense (unless you read the book or play the video games).

It not a bad movie, it an okay flick. I think that it would have been better as streaming movie (Netflix, maybe).

M3GAN
(2022)

Don't mess with M3gan
A woman (Allison Williams) whose is robotics engineer at a toy company creates a life-like doll for her niece who recently lost her parents. For a companion and protector until the doll takes too much interest in her owner and become more self-aware and smarter.

The story is similar to the Child's Play reboot & the original only a little bit different. The name Megan made me think of the evil little sister who terrorize her two teenage brothers in "Drake & Josh" (the way they say her name). The doll appearance is unnerving that scary type doll I will not have a kid. M3gan looks like the Olsen sisters (Mary-Kate, Ashley & Elizabeth). M3gan gave Chucky and Annabelle a run for their money. The only differences that Chucky and Annabelle are actual dolls and M3gan is life-size robot doll. The real big difference is Chucky is far worse than M3gan and his kills are a higher count. He is cursing a lot.

The film has bad acting, and we know the same story of adults giving their kids the doll that turn into a killer. It also shows everyone there is danger of using technology and how technology would turn on human (think of The Terminator and other sci-fi flicks).

I enjoy the film and I hope the sequel will be entertaining too like the movie and the unrated version is worth watching.

Gotham Knights: Pilot
(2023)
Episode 1, Season 1

The show has potential, but need to stay away with stupid writing
The series is about the murder of Bruce Wayne and his adopted son & street teens are accused of his killing. They join forces with Carrie Kelley and Stephanie Brown to clear their names and find out who murder Wayne.

First of all, the series has potential, but they should not add Batman/Bruce Wayne in the mix, because the show has nothing to do with Batman, they should make a random rich guy got murder not Bruce Wayne. There's no Dick Grayson, Damian Wayne, Alfred or Commissioner Gordon where are they? Instead, they create Bruce Wayne adopted son named Turner Hayes who was never in the comic.

It has bad writing (they brought the same writers of the bad show, Batwoman). The cast cannot act (except for Olivia Rose Keegan as Duela (who claimed to be The Joker's daughter) where her character is the only one carrying the series and Misha Collins ("Supernatural") as Harvey Dent).

Oscar Morgan is attractive lad but cannot act, like rest of CW cast they have attractive people with a lack of talent.

I will give the series another tried from episode 2-3 or 6, as along they focus on The Court of Owls. The series might end up like Riverdale. It needs to remove all the teen soap opera, keep The Court of Owls & Harvey Dent. Because this show is one that no one ask for and ruins Batman mythos to fans with stupid storylines plot.

Guillermo del Toro's Pinocchio
(2022)

Very Good and Interesting Take of Pinocchio
Oscar-winning director Guillermo del Toro (Mimic, Hellboy, Pan's Labyrinth, Crimson Peak & The Shape of Water) directed and screenplay of the classic fairy tale. A father (David Bradley (Harry Potter)) who wish brings a wooden boy to life in 1930's WWII Italy.

The movie was long overdue since 2010's and it definitely deserve an Oscar nominated for Best Animated Film with other Netflix cartoon movie The Sea Beast. This was darker than Disney's 1940 classic Pinocchio, but you cannot compare this to other adaptations of Pinocchio because Disney's would always top, this as the best.

They cast the right voices (Ron Perlman, Cate Blanchett, Christoph Waltz & Tilda Swinton) for all the characters including Pinocchio, Geppetto and Jiminy the Cricket (Ewan McGregor) who named is Sebastian J. Cricket (Which I still called him Jiminy). He tells the story and is a scene-stealer. This version of Jiminy is festy and want to be writer, Geppetto is depressed and grumpy, and Pinocchio is more naughty and still naive.

They had catchy songs. They were entertaining but I prefer the classic Disney songs better.

The main point about death and afterlife a father who lost his son and suddenly get a son figure and must accept him for who he is.

The movie is very good and worth watching which I will add it in the best movies of 2022. If you have small kids this film is not for them, maybe showing to older kids.

Guillermo del Toro's Cabinet of Curiosities
(2022)

Modern Tales of the Darkside
Oscar-winning director Guillermo del Toro (Hellboy, Pan's Labyrinth, The Shape of Water and upcoming Netflix animated movie Pinocchio) host this anthology of bizarre eight tales with different directors.

After seeing seven episodes so far, the series is mix of Alfred Hitchcock Presents meets Tales from the Crypt. Del Toro does Rod Serling/Alfred Hitchcock hosting-style on each intro at each episode.

The only strong episode I seen is "The Autopsy" (with F. Murray Braham (Amadeus) & Glynn Turman (Gremlins) it has sci-fi horror and a smart ending. The two weakest episodes are "Pickman's Model" (with Ben Barnes and Crispin Glover) which was a Night Gallery story, it's a slow moving and it's not good I prefer the Night Gallery version better; "Dreams in the Witch House" (with Rupert Grint), Grint did good job in this episode and the witch was terrifying, but the story is weak. The episode "The Viewing" with Peter Weller is okay kind of slow moving because all they do is talking, drinking and taking drugs. It only got interesting near the end.

Overall, the series is a mix bag (mediocre at best). I won't be surprised they will give this show a second season.

Around the World in 80 Days
(2021)

Around the World with Different Fogg
Another screen adaptation of Jules Verne classic novel (hasn't been movie/tv adaptation of the title since 2004 movie with Jackie Chan). Where Phineas Fogg made bet on his friends at the Men's Club that he can circle the globe in 80 days. With the help of his valet, Passpartout and a female reporter, Abigail Fix (who at the same situations as Maggie DuBois was in The Great Race as the first woman reporter), they slowly discover the bet is partly that he wants to see the world and also find his former love.

I thought the series was okay, it only got stronger after the trio got marooned on an island.

It has good acting that keeps the mini-series going especially by David Tennant. You may not like this version of Phineas Fogg because early episodes he wasn't strong and adventurous character like David Niven's portrayed or the book character. I expect him to be more like he was as the 10th Doctor and Scrooge McDuck. You end liking the character as the series progress.

There are two major changes to two characters on the story. They made Passparout into a black man and Detective Fix into a female reporter. Both characters but mainly Passpartout keeps saving Fogg from dangers while traveling. Without them Fogg would've been a dead man.

I heard they were going to make a second season, this time another Jules Verne classic novel. These three characters were never in it but its kind fun to put them in. I wish they should've added them to Journey to the Center of the Earth. But hey it's fun idea!

Obi-Wan Kenobi
(2022)

It Could Been Better Than This
The series takes place ten years after Revenge of the Sith. Where we find an older Obi-Wan Kenobi who is guilt-stricken man still haunted about his former apprentice/friend, Anakin turned to the dark side. Meanwhile the Inquisitor are hunts surviving Jedi's including him. He must rescue Senator Bail adopted 10-year-old daughter, Princess Leia (who's Luke twin sister).

First, I will tell the good stuff about the show. Bringing back Ewan McGregor as Obi-Wan Kenobi who went from broken man to the Obi-Wan everyone remembers. James Earl Jones return as voice of Darth Vader. They brought a more terrifying version of Vader we never seen in the Original Star Wars Movies until Rogue One at the end. Ewan and Moses Ingram did a good job for their performances.

We finally had flashback of Obi-Wan and Anakin, but I didn't expect be flashback from before Attack of the Clones instead of the Clone Wars. The CGI de-aged of Anakin was not good enough. They tried to make Hayden Christensen looks like how used to look in Attack of the Clones as teenage Anakin (aged 19). But he still looks older (he's at his early 40s).

Now here is the bad part. They didn't need Leia in the entire show, because they turned it into her show. First of all, she acted too grow instead of act like child. Second, she never met Obi-Wan she heard of him, but she never met him. And finally, why did she never remember all of this. They ruined Princess Leia character however she still how she was in the original film trilogy. This series title is Obi-Wan Kenobi not Princess Leia. The episodes are poorly written, and some scenes don't make any sense (for example: Reva goes after Luke and tries to kill him). They made Mandalorian show look epic. They only got three episodes that were good episode 3, 5 & 6. This was because they were focus on Obi-Wan & Darth Vader and less Leia. If they are making Season Two, they need to hired better writers like Dave Filoni (who wrote The Mandalorian, Star Wars Clone Wars & Rebels) who understand Star Wars lore & seen both six films & television.

I not trying to say I dislike the limited series, but it could've been better. It got good later on, so it mediocre at best. I hope it will be Season Two soon to see what Obi-Wan next adventure will be.

Obi-Wan Kenobi: Part III
(2022)
Episode 3, Season 1

Little Better than the Two Episodes
Episode three finds Obi-Wan and Leia on desert-like planet. While attempt take her home to her adopted parents. Obi-Wan seems to be suffering PTSD and has trust issues. Meanwhile Reva notified Darth Vader and Vader joins her and other Inquistors the quest for revenge on his former master/friend for leaving him for dead in 10-years.

The episode is little better, but they need to get rid of Leia. Leia is little annoying in this, however she's much better than she was in two episodes, this time she acts like a real child should act, asking questions and said, "I want to go home". We find a little backstory of Obi-Wan Kenobi. Which I recently read the first book of Jedi Apprentice, Obi-Wan doesn't know his family, all he knows is growing up in Jedi Temple. I am happy they brought back James Earl Jones as the voice of Darth Vader. Vader and Reva are more menacing in this story. It's really show everyone's afraid of Darth Vader when villager was hiding and Vader taunting and using the force to choke and drag Obi-Wan in the fire. This is too similar when he messes up Luke Skywalker in The Empire Strikes Back. I didn't expect Dark Vader this early in this episode, I thought we are seeing him at the last episode.

Ewan and Moses are still the strong highlight through three episodes, for their performances and I hope upcoming episodes is good.

Obi-Wan Kenobi: Part II
(2022)
Episode 2, Season 1

What a Big Disappointing
The limited series takes place 10 years after Revenge of the Sith. Where we find an Older Obi-Wan Kenobi who is guilt-stricken man still haunted about how his former apprentice/friend, Anakin turned to the dark side. He ends up pull himself out of self-pity when the Inquisitor who hunts surviving Jedi's including him. He must rescue Senator Bail adopted 10-year-old daughter, Princess Leia (who's Luke twin sister).

After seeing two episodes this is a big disappointing. The series focus on two female characters: Reva, a vicious and over-ambitious antagonist. She loathes Obi-Wan for whatever reason. She's the mystery, could she be one of the survivor children/Younglings in Order 66? Then there Leia, she's a real pain the butt, she keeps run away and act too grown up. The episodes are poorly written and don't make sense (Leia don't meet Obi-Wan but she heard of him). It has bad acting (except from Ewan McGregor and Moses Ingram as Reva where both did good job).

The series has four episodes to go, and I hope it get better as long they have episode three where Kenobi send Leia home (I have a bad feeling she will be in entire episodes. Which is not good). This is about Obi-Wan Kenobi not Princess Leia she should've guest cameo for one episode not the entire show.

The Batman
(2022)

Interesting Storylines But Fairly Good Batman Movie
This film takes place of Bruce Wayne second year as Batman where he must top and solve the clues by the mysterious new villain, The Riddler.

The movie has interesting plot that they took from Batman: The Long Halloween graphic novel and noir films like Chinatown and Seven. There only few problems I have: 1.) They don't show The Riddler that much when he is the main antagonist. Carmine Falcone has more screentime than him. They should've made Falcone the main bad guy. 2.) I don't care much Pattinson's Bruce Wayne; his version of Bruce Wayne has no personality and emo. But he did okay as Batman (not as good as Ben Affleck) He brought the detective skills and intimidating.

Overall, the film is worth watching, not as good as all the other Batman flicks.

Death on the Nile
(2022)

Kenneth Branagh Made This Movie Work
Death on the Nile is the sequel to the 2017 film Murder on the Orient Express and the third version (1978 & 2004) of the book adaption. This time around Hercule Poirot (Kenneth Branagh reprise the role of Poirot) is on vacation aboard a river steamer on Nile. A beautiful heiress (Gal Gadot) who's recently married to her friend's former fiancé (Armie Hammer) is murder and Poirot must solve the crime.

First of all, Kenneth Branagh did good job playing Poirot, but David Suchet will always be number one. The cast was okay, but the weakest member is Gal Gadot who gave a laughable/weak performance and miscast as Linnet Doyle. The production for the 1930s setting was well done.

One unnecessary part was Poirot past during the WW1. This explains his past and who is the woman in the picture in Murder on the Orient Express was.

The movie is worth watching, it was a little better than Orient Express. Some viewers will find it boring because they had to introduction the characters in the story. They said they going be a film series of Hercule Poirot, I wonder which ones they are going to adapt next? Evil Under the Sun, Appointment with Death, Cards on the Table, The Murder of Roger Ackyrod or a book that was never made into screen yet? Anyway, the movie is good.

Catwoman: Hunted
(2022)

Better Than 2004 Live-Action Film
Catwoman/Selina Kyle (voiced by Elizabeth Gillies (Jade in Victorious & Dynasty reboot)) steal a priceless jewel but end up caught up with Batwoman and two agents when organized crime are going after her and they want her to help them to bring down Black Mask & Barbara Minerva aka Cheetah.

The film is entertaining, fun and campy. Elizabeth Gillies is the best voice and right choice of Catwoman. She has the attitude, the flirting and seductive nature that she acts like a real cat. Black Mask and Cheetah are the two main villains of the story. Black Mask in this portrayal as bit sleazy. Cheetah is more vicious and sophisticate, but she's better portrayed than her live-action counterpart from the awful Wonder Woman sequel. I prefer this Cheetah and the one in Justice League series from Cartoon Network. I agree the villains should have more screentime. Other DC characters are Julia Pennyworth (Alfred's daughter), Tobias Whale (voice by Keith David), Cheshire, Solomon Grundy and Talia Al Ghul.

I recently find out it was screenplay by Greg Weissman who made Disney's Gargoyles & Young Justice. They have fun action sequences with car chases, Catwoman & Batwoman Vs. Cheshire & Nosfertu, The Cat & The Bat Vs. League of Assassins & Catwoman Vs. Cheetah. I like the jazz score plays in; it suits Catwoman style.

My two problems with this movie; 1.) It not long it 79 minutes it should've been two hours long. 2.) I didn't like how it was anime-style (Cowboy Bebop) I prefer they stay with their original animation.

My final verdict is for fans who are Batman or Catwoman fans. It is entertaining but not good just mediocre. It worth watching and if you want to watch Batman: Year One, The Dark Knight Rises, Batman: Soul of the Dragon & The Long Halloween this is the movie for this type of story.

The Equalizer
(2021)

Okay show but needs to remove the family member story
The series is remake of 1980's series & 2014 film with Denzel Washington. This version of The Equalizer is now. Played by a woman and have help by her two friends and her boss (Chris Noth).

The series would been better if they remove Robyn's teenage daughter, she served no purpose in the series. They should've made Queen Latifah's character just a divorcee and has no children. Her character, Robyn is not mysterious enough like Edward Woodward and Denzel Washington. She let the authorities known her presence. Queen Latifah and her teams (her friend and her cyber husband) keeps the series strong and going and she has good chemistry with Chris Noth.

The series is worth watching and if you are fan of both original & remake film.

The Green Knight
(2021)

Bad Movie with Acid Trip
The Green Knight's about Gawain (Dev Patel) embarks on quest to confront a tree-like giant and his honor.

First of all, the movie is absolutely boring and laughable awful. It like the writer was on drug because there are scenes were there are talking heads and talking fox. The main character encounters weird and creepy people along the way. The plot doesn't make any sense and the critic were wrong about this. Sadly they wasted good casting on this weird film that not even they can save it. My aunt regret watching this she thought it would be like Lord of the Rings or Game of Thrones but it was a waste of watching.

Don't watch this and go watch The Jungle Cruise or Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings (which both are plan to watch next on Disney+) instead.

Kate
(2021)

Very Predictable Female Assassin Movie
Kate is about a female assassin (Mary Elizabeth Winstead (Bird of Prey, Gemini Man, The Thing (2011)-Prequel, Sky High, & Grindhouse-Death Proof)) who has been poison she has less than 24 hours to find out who poison her and exact revenge.

The movie's predictable and somewhat boring. The film is John Wick meets Gunpowder Milkshake. They tried to make a female John Wick but it more like Scarlett Johansson's flick, Lucy instead.

Mary Elizabeth Winstead is not badass enough, Charlize Theron and Karen Gillan were more badass in Atomic Blonde & Gunpowder Milkshake. Karen Gillan is the winner for being more badass in Milkshake than Mary. Woody Harrelson is wasted in this and didn't have much screentime. There were no chemistry between him and Mary. It were suppose father figure and protegee relationship.

It's an okay movie, but trailer made it look interesting. It falls under "good trailer, mediocre movie". I think I'll stick to Gunpowder Milkshake and the next movie I will be watch The Protege with Maggie Q, Michael Keaton and Samuel L. Jackson instead.

Batman
(1989)

The Batman movie that change audiences
The Dark Knight (Michael Keaton) becomes Gotham savior after his parent's murder and battle his first villain, The Joker (Jack Nicholson).

The movie becomes the stand out Batman movie long before the Mask of the Phantasm and The Dark Knight Trilogy (2005-2012). Also the influences of Batman: The Animated Series (1992) on FoxKids. The movie is not the best, but it still worth watching for all generation.

Michael Keaton is the best Batman, but he does not have Bruce Wayne looks or his playboy flavors. Jack Nicholson gave an over-the-top and memorable performances as the psychic Joker. He still my favorite Joker along with Mark Hamill and the late Health Ledger. Kim Basinger is pretty star, but she's miscast as Vicki Vale. Vicki screams too much and in the comic book Vicki Vale wasn't a damsel in distress. She was just a Photographer-Photojournalist. In here she just eye candy and want to show us what Bruce have left is his compassion.

Some of the Batman movies are good and some are mediocre but the all have their unique way. The animated version will always be better than the live action films.

Deception
(2008)

Predictable Movie, Stupid Ending
Deception is erotic crime thriller about a naive lonely accountant (Ewan McGregor) who quickly becomes friend with a charming lawyer (Hugh Jackman) who introduces him into sex club, The club fills with successful career women both young and old who he ends up has sexual encounter. He meets a pretty blonde (Michelle Williams) after he become attracted to her, she's mysterious disappear. He is now prime suspect and discover his new buddy is not who he appears to. He blackmail him to steal money at his job. He wonder if he will ever see her again.

The movie is okay but you see this type story over and over again. They have good casting. I think Maggie Q (Designated Survivor) should have a bigger part in this movie not just small supporting role, Natasha Henstridge and Charlotte Rampling made a guest cameo role as the women that McGregor hook up with. They have interesting chemistry with McGregor and Williams (whom they work together the same year for Incendiary where they have steam love scenes), Williams plays a femme fatale role. They attempt to make her more like Mary Astor in The Maltese Falcon. Hugh Jackman surprise me to play a real sociopath con-man. The problem is McGregor character was blind to fall in love with a woman he just met and making too many mistakes.

The movie could have been better but it was ruin by stupid ending; Williams kills Jackman in the park and no one heard it. McGregor does not take the money but instead leave it at Jackman's body.

Halston
(2021)

Unlikable Characters and What's Facts and Fictions
This Netflix mini-series is about the rise-and-fall of famed fashion designer of the 70's.

The truth is I never heard of Halston, but he's mention on the 70's song "He's Greatest Dancer", I only heard of Oscar de la Renta, Calvin Klein, and Ralph Lauren these are famous designer that everyone heard of and wears their clothes. The series was only good at episode 1-3 (The second episode to remind me of The Devil Wears Prada). The mini-series never show Halston friendship with Andy Warhol (he's only mentions) or his relationships with his models, Anjelica Huston and Pat Cleveland (they're only mention too). And his other female stars, Elizabeth Taylor and Bianca Jagger. They also didn't explore more detail with his childhood only glimpse and they never explore his relationship with his mother.

They portrayed him as diva, aloof and unlikable social climber. He's mean to everyone except to Liza Minnelli because she's was his friend. I don't like how he treated his former boyfriend turned employee Ed Austin (I wish he choose Ed not Victor Hugo, but it happen for real life.) and Joe Eula. It also showed that Halston was not good at business, but he lets his stubborn and arrogant get in the way. I think the show should've have more character development. They never explain if Ed really love Halston and what happen to him after he got fire?

There were people that complains that Ewan McGregor's was not right as the title role, because he doesn't look like Halston. He not tall enough or classical handsome enough. But he did a good job and has his voice. Krysta Rodriguez (Wednesday Addams in The Addams Family: Musical) did okay as Liza Minnelli, she has singing voice but not fantastic as Liza does. The fashion were to die-for. I think the costume and Ewan should get a Emmy nom for it. The rest's not-not.

I knew the show would be good or bad because it a Ryan Murphy show and it mediocre at best. I recently watch a documentary about Roy Halston before it premiere on Netflix. The movie come off as campy and I think everyone should stick to look on two documentary of him instead.

The Falcon and the Winter Soldier
(2021)

Pros and Cons in this mini-movie
The story takes place after The Avengers: Endgame, where Sam and Bucky are struggle with their lives. They end up team up when a terrorist group called Flag Smashers attacks.

There are pros and cons while watching this. I start with the pros first.

1. The chemistry between Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan is good on-screen (and include in real-life).

2. The action/fighting scene between first episode, Sharon (Emily Van Camp) & Dora fights with the guys and the end.

3. Zemo steals in episodes 3-4.

And now finally the cons:

1. The series too focused on racial issues. We all known Sam is black and has problem in life, but please focused on the story. This is because the mini-series is written by a black guy.

2. Don't expect to be a "buddy movie" like Lethal Weapon, etc., it not. It more of a superhero drama.

3. The last two episodes were weak and dull and should've be better.

The series is mediocre at best, it would've been better without the racial stuff. I enjoy the chemistry & episode 2, 3 & 4 (3 & 4 which were both written by the same guy who wrote John Wick). I can't wait to look at Marvel limited series, Loki next.

Chillers
(1990)

It Could Been Better
The series kind tried to be like The Alfred Hitchcock Presents and Hour. It a mix bag like the other series I recently watched Love, Death & Robots. The biggest mystery is why they took this series off back in the 90's?

The show both made production in Britain and France. Half the episodes are filmed in France and you can tell some of the actor's voices are dubbed when they move their mouth. There are only four good episodes like the ones with Ian McShane, the two old people, the French man who date both women & the late Ian Holm with the mannequin (creepy episode). The rest are either boring, weird or stupid. Anthony Perkins served as a good host with his smooth voice at each stories.

It's okay series but I won't consider my favorite because it has it's moment. I kind prefer the 1970's Thriller series better.

Our Kind of Traitor
(2016)

Uninspiring and Not Good Enough
Perry (Ewan McGregor) meets a Russian money launderer Dima (Stellan Skarsgard) on Moroccan vacation with his wife, Gail (Naomie Harris). Dima asked him to deliver incriminating evidence to MI6 because he knows the Russian mafia wants him and his family dead. He hopes the British Intelligence can get them safety away. However, the MI6 has dirt on their selves.

Don't expect this movie to be like North by Northwest or The Man Who Knew Too Much. This story would be better off directed by Hitchcock. The trailer made it look like a potential good film. The movie is not good and it has slow pace (boring). It doesn't have enough action or suspense and the thrill it does have won't keep audience attention.

They don't give enough character development (except Dima & MI6 agent) at all. They are one dimension and these character's make wrong decision. They never explore the relationship between Perry and Gail. We only known a little that he had an affair with one of his students but that didn't not explain why his wife is distant and nags at him. After they got involved with all the spy world they got closer then ever and she sees her husband strong side. Perry had better chemistry with his friendship with Dima. Not even the cast couldn't save this movie they deserve better than this.

The Ghost Writer
(2010)

Boring & Predictable
After a writer mysterious die in a "accident", a ghostwriter (Ewan McGregor) is hired to work on the memories of England former Prime Minster (Pierce Brosnan). The more he learns about his client the more he exposes a secret and become the man who know too much.

Now I wonder why the "Ghost" who's is reading the Prime Minster memories found the menuscript's boring. The movie is not suspenseful enough. The characters are unlikable (who has attitude) and the acting in the movie is wooden. Some of the actors did an okay performances not fantastic. Both the protagonist & the villains make stupid decisions.

The filming location you can tell is not in America. I think the movie is more suitable for a TV movie standard not a feature length.

I found the movie to be overrated and the film's nothing special at all. I think you guys should watch State of Play (mini-series), both original and remake The Manchurian Candidate & Shutter Island instead.

It Takes Two
(1995)

This movie deserve more love and attention than The Parent Trip remake
Identical young girls, one an orphan tough tomboy (Mary-Kate Olsen) and a wealthy well-mannered girl (Ashley Olsen). Swaps places to see how their lives will be. They try to create a romance between a social worker/mother figure (Kirstie Alley) and the other one's father (Steve Guttenberg). They try to stop dad from marry the wrong woman who's gold digger.

This was my favorite movie when I was a kid in the 90's. The film is more like The Parent Trap meets The Prince and the Pauper. The only differences the girls are identical stranger not long separate twins. The Olsen twins did a good jobs in their roles. I feels this movie need more attention than Lindsay Lohan's remake (release after).
