I liked the concept and treatment of the story.

It felt like Danush is used to this kind of storyline so he matched what the story was looking for.

Sara Ali Khan was good. Especially after Coolie No.1, it was nice to see a different side of her.

Akshay Kumar was good, although his part of the story was a little confusing. He was behaving one way then suddenly changed.

The ending seemed a little rushed but overall it is a good movie to watch.

Let me start by saying that Nayanthara is arguably one of the best female superstars who can really pull the audience to watch her. With that being said, this film let her down.

I felt like there should have been more subtlety with Nayanthra's character. I think the misstep was when she challenges Ajmal's character and at the end, there was a different performance. If that scene was removed, I think Nayanthara would have come out stronger. Her character was going through an emotionally journey but it almost felt like the second half of the film forgot about it. There needed to be a better character flow and would have made the movie more cohesive.

Ajmal's character was a okay. He never got a chance to fully showcase his character. The character got muddled and a hurried explanation towards the end did not do justice. Had the character development been shown earlier, there would have been a better flow.

All the supporting actors and actresses were good. Songs were melodious.

To conclude, the screenplay could have been more taunt and length shorter.

The storyline was riddled with flaws and nothing really made sense. There were more questions than answers. The concept was okay but trying to bring it to life on screen is where it fell flat.

I truly wish I could have seen this movie in theaters.

The music was amazing, especially "Jwalamukhi" and "O Aashiqa".

The story was simple but the music and characters were crafted in a way to bring flow to the story.

Overall, a sensual experience of mixed emotions.

This tv show was well done. The twists that happened made sense and were not haphazardly thrown in.

Every scene had a point.

I appreciated the fact that everything was not what it seemed, touching upon issues which are not always discussed.

I liked the fact there was no "hero-ego", meaning everyone had an important role to play and the main female character was portrayed as a smart and able woman. There have been a few movies where the female is the lead, and suddenly a "hero" swoops in to saves her.

The only criticism I have is that the last episode could have been a little shorter.

Overall, worth a watch.

Siddharth is one of the most underrated actor. His performance was quite good. Some of the scenes were just a little over done but overall great performance and sincerity. Catherine was good. She played her character very well and I appreciated the fact she could share almost equal screen space with Siddharth.

The only flaw was the execution. The concept and suspense were good, but the overall feel did not really motivate for social reaction. I would say this is a good one time watch.

I was not going to watch the movie because it did not have any well known actors. But, I decided to give a chance since the posters were interesting. The graphics were funny and unrealistic. The movie is slow paced but the movie rests on the dialogues. It is captivating. You feel the slowness but you are hooked because you have to pay attention to every detail.

I must say the movie has taken me by surprise. It is the same old story recycled. But, the pace of the movie and the fact that as the movie progresses clues were given makes the movie interesting to watch.

John Abraham as an angry man, fits well. Some dialogues are repetitive and some action sequences were a bit over the top. But then again John has worked hard on his physic and has to show it off. I did realize his facial features, he is very controlled. He has this intensitiy in his eyes so when he is angry you can feel his pain and anger.

His counter part Manoj Bajpayee is equally good. He does go overboard at times with his dialogue delivery. And also, this is a frequent character he plays so he is becoming synonymous with a police officer.

New comer, Aisha Sharma, was pretty good. I did like the fact her role was different than the typical herione roles. And I appeciated that she did not run after the main hero and it was a mutual consent between the two to be together. Her voice, however, did not seem to fit her look. It sounded like sand paper. And she did not have enough screen time.

The songs by various artists were pretty decent. The song "Dilbaar" was entertaining and Nora Fatehian can definitely dance, effortlessly.

Overall, the movie could have used some refinement work. There is a lot of spinning around to show dramatics but I think music would have been enough to make the point across.

The screenplay and dialogue of this movie was disappointing. It was very predictable and there was no originality. They mixed many action films into one movie.

The makers banked on Ajith to carry his movie. Unfortunately, the dialogues written for him were very generic so he had no room to make it his own. Vivek Oberoi was a good balance to Ajith but even his dialogues were cheesy and predictable. Unfortunately, he has portrayed these kinds of roles so many times, he could not add anything refreshing.

There was disconnect between the music and the action scenes. Some of the songs were just out of place and their placement was just odd. Being a fan of Anirudh, the music did nothing to spark interest.

A nice plus point was the makers utilized Kajal in this movie instead of portraying her as a helpless wife, despite her having little screen time. But, they continue to portray the same kind of women, pregnant and creating a "hurdle" for the hero to distract him from his "main" goal and being all dramatic for her "husband" and suddenly, smart enough to help.

Overall, the movie was dialogue heavy. Ajith and Vivek spend more time explaining very moment as opposed to showing us what they are doing, which is what I think would have made the movie more entertaining and trilling.

This reminded me of an older movie Vikram back in the day, Bheema. It had a similar feel. The movie started off slow, as if there was no direction. But as the movie progressed it got more interesting and the climax was unexpected. The second half of the movie was a little more intriguing than the first half The movie was too violent for my taste. It was over-exaggerated making it feel pointless to the story line. Vikram was very good. It felt like he was given the flexibility to do his role. In contrast, Tamannaah's role was limited. Her character was unique but she barely got any screen time. It was like she was there only for a few words and the songs. The songs were nice but not really memorable. Overall, the movie was interesting but there was just so many scenes packed in that it made the movie feel slow.

Mersal is a mind-blowing family entertainer. It is well-balanced, filled with catchy songs, action, drama and suspense.

Kudos to the director, Atlee, for being able to translate his vision on screen. A common story packed with punches. Cinematography and editing was good. Every major incident had a meaning and it comes together at the end of the film. This is definitely one of Vijay's best movies. He is willing to portray risky and unconventional roles.

A special mention to Nitya Menen. Her portrayal was very emotional and powerful.. She is given an opportunity to really own her role and she holds her own, possibly outshining Vijay. In contrast, Kajal and Samantha are overpowered in terms of screen presence. They are sidelined are not given a chance to really shine.

SJ Surya is very slick. I think villainous roles seem to suit him. The music is very good. After a long time, AR Rahman and Viay come together and the music really works well with the movie.

All in all, the movie touches upon a deep subject portrayed with justice in mind.

Kuttrum 23 is one of the most powerful and gripping films.

The story line and screenplay were on point. Taking a subject that society dust under the carpets and turning it into a riveting, fast paced film shows teamwork in full force.

Arun Vijay was great in this film. His dialogue delivery and mannerism were on point. He embodied his character with ease and he really helped with the progression of the film.

Mahima Nambair was good. But, she was kind of pushed to the sideline to make room for Arun Vijay.

Vamsi Krishna was great, Albeit the few minutes of screen time.

But most of the credit belongs to Arivazhagan, who were able to translate the words onto the screen, and Bhuvan Srinivasam who made sure that the film did not slack at any point in time.

A gem of a film - must watch

The film had some great plus points such as music, cinematography, story line and direction however the weak script made this movie boring. Even the title of the film did not make sense to the story.

Ram Charan falls into the same trap as many actors: choosing generic scripts. He over acts with his dialogue delivery and he is unable to carry the movie.

Rakul Preet as his love interest does a really good job but she is trapped with over the top dialogues. However, some credit should be given for a character that is different from generic portrayal of love interests.

Kriti, as the sister, is able to help move the movie forward. But, again, the script does not really give her a chance to take charge.

Arun Vijay as the antagonist was also a victim to poor screenplay. His role was not needed in this film.

Overall, the film had a good concept but it was not brought to life.

This film is a good hearty family drama. The moral and cultural beliefs intertwined well with the story line. The climax was surprising however the ending was cliché. I felt that it ruined the messages that were being portrayed throughout film.

Allu Arjun did a very good job. His style and efforts were flawless although at times it felt a little over the top. Samantha's role was unconventional but towards that end of the film she was forced to play a typical heroine. Her style was a little bit confusing as it felt that it was more important to emphasize her physical appearance even though she had a unique character. Upendra was good. He really embodied the different shades of his character. The rest of the cast helped move the story along.

The music was pretty good although none of them were memorable. Direction and editing was good as well.

Overall, Trivikram had a great vision in mind but ended up following the same formula.

After Neninthe comes Katha Screenplay Darsakatvam.

Ram Gopal Varma, who comes up with interesting screenplays, fails to project his thoughts with this movie. This is a double edge sword because he is showing the process it takes to make a film and how his "actual" ideas may never reach the screen.

The director describes how tough it is to get a break in the film industry and huge compromises must be made in order to make a dream come true. Each step of the way the writer/director has to bend to other people's thoughts and make sacrifices in order to make his dream come true.

Sunil is really talented. He tried a different role as opposed to what he is known for. The rest of the cast were wonderful. Songs, editing, cinematography were good. However, the film had an overall "bored" feeling to it.

In conclusion, RGV reminds us, making films is a risky business and as more people are involved there is more pressure to make it successful.

Karthikeya, a supernatural suspense thriller, has all the right elements to make this movie a super hit. The screenplay is a major plus as every dialogue and every scene had a purpose. It is directed in such a way where things are slowly unraveling allowing the audience to enjoy the whole ride. The camera angles really add to the mystery by allowing the audience to keep guessing what is happening. The songs add to the flow, instead of distracting the audience.

The casting is great. All the characters have equal screen time so the audience is always left guessing. The lead pair Nikhil and Swati have great chemistry.

More importantly, the film questions our belief in God in a gentle way without attaching the belief.

However, a couple of areas need work. The animation of the snake, at times, looks fake. The other area is the climax. Unfortunately it fell a little flat in comparison to the build up.

Overall, this film is a must see and a rare treat for film watchers.

Meaghamann is an slick film. The screenplay was very interesting and unique to Tamil cinema. There were quite a few twists and turns that made the movie interesting and fast-paced.

After almost a year, Arya is back. He has proved that he has the talent to carry the weight of the film. Hansika is terrible. The director tried to showcase a different side of a heroine (other than a glamor role) but it failed. She was quite abusive and rude and her dubbing voice did not always match her expressions. Also, some of her dream sequences towards the end of the film were 'offensive,' giving wrong impressions about herself and Arya. Her friend was also pointless. The three main villains of the film (Ashutosh Rana, Ashish Vidyarthi and Sudhanshu Pandey) each did a good job. Unfortunately there were too many characters in the film that it was hard to give everyone equal screen time. One of the villains were forgotten only to be given a random scene towards the end of the film as a reminder that he was in the movie.

Editing and cinematography were pretty good. The former helped the movie move at a reasonable pace but the latter was very simple but effective.

The songs by S. Thaman were forgettable except for the background score and theme music.

Overall, this film was quite good. Had the director reduced the amount of characters, this film would have been even better.

If you are expecting a brilliant performance from Gopichand, you will be sorely disappointed. A versatile and brilliant actor, he seems to have chosen yet another movie that was the same as his previous ventures. The screenplay gives him no room to showcase his talent. His screen time was shared with Prudhviraj as Boiling Star Bablu who arguably stole the show. His comic scenes were wonderful. Brahmanandam was funny as usual although we have heard these dialogues over and over again.

Mukesh Rishi, Sampath Raj, Rahul Dev had to share screen time as playing characters with negative shades. All three did not have time for their characters to develop and their talents were wasted.

Rakul Preet Singh as the heroine was alright. Her character was interesting until she, too, got forced into a typical heroine character.

All the other supporting characters: Hamsa Nandini, Chandra Mohan, Pragathi, etc were good.

The storyline was filled with old ideas, dialogues that we have seen five years ago. However, there were a few surprises that helped the movie move along.

On a positive note, Sriwass, the director, tried to give all the actors almost equal screen time, which also ended up being his downfall because the characters were not developed fully.

Overall - This is movie is good to pass the time.

Puri Jagannadh, who is well known for his strong screenplay and unique story concept, disappoints with his latest movie. There were ideas that the director wanted to explore however had a difficult time weaving them together. The dialogues were utter crap in some parts of the movie, leaving the audience wondering what happened to the director.

The film started off on a interesting note, perking the audience's interest. As the movie progressed, the audience got sucked into the routine love story with dialogues that pretty much made no sense between the hero and heroine. From there, forgetting how he started, the director decided last minute to suddenly include what happened in the beginning of the film and in less than 5 minutes decided to tie up the loose end.

Despite the screenplay flaws, there were some plus points. The cinematography was done very well and really showcased Europe beautifully. The songs were peppy and fun. The editing was done well, although the second half of the film was slightly draggy. The director explored a subject that some may consider "taboo" to showcase a more modern approach. This is a unique approach so hats off to the director for making a bold step.

In terms of characterization, Nithin, as Varun, was the shining star. Although some of his dialogues were nonsensical, Nithin really embodied his character wholeheartedly. His style and look really matched what the director was thinking. The second person who did justice to their role was Brahmanandam as Iskcon Ramana. The director really spent time exploring the "side story" to spread an important message, which arguably could have been the main plot.

Unfortunately, the same cannot be said to the rest of the characters who were pretty much reduced to minor roles. Adah Sharma tried her best, but her character did not really have any scope. We have seen this type of character over and over again and the director should have changed her character to fit in with his line of thinking. Vikramjeet as the villain did a pretty good job, however the director decided not to really focus on developing his character. Ali as the second comedian was not needed.

In conclusion, the director did his best to explore a new avenue but failed to be consistent with his thought process.

Story: Ajay Devgan, a man with a big dream, is joined by three people who become his band members. His best friend, Salman Khan, enters, threatening to destroy Ajay's biggest achievement. How Ajay handles this challenge forms the rest of the story.

Analysis:

Characters:

Ajay Devgan, as the main protagonist, seems a bit old for this role but nevertheless does justice. He is neither portrayed as a hero nor villain but as an ordinary man who believes in hard work and dedication to work his way up the ladder. His character represents the motto: "You can achieve anything if you put your mind to it".

Salman Khan, as the friend, is jovially and carefree. He represents the minority of people who have talent without effort. His soft nature is contrasted with Ajay's hard one, giving a ying-yang feel. As a actor, Salman was amazing, easily stealing Ajay's thunder.

Asin plays a girl from a strict Iyer family, who loves dancing. Her character was unnecessary as it was not properly etched out. As a backup dancer, she easily could have just been a random person getting some camera attention. Her presence was overshadowed by both Ajay's and Salman's relationship, making her forgettable.

Rannvijay Singh Singha & Aditya Roy Kapur are brothers in the movie who parallel Ajay and Salman's relationship. Their characters reinforce the struggle between Ajay and Salman. Both were good, with one sharing the same dreams as Ajay and the other trying to hold the band together. Like Asin, they were not necessary to the script. They did not add any substance.

Om Puri plays Ajay's uncle, is also seen as the man with wisdom. He is a voice that guides Ajay throughout his journey. He does not add anything to the film.

Storyline/Screenplay: The concept was good. It was something different and the emotions raw. There were some scenes that showed what humans, in order to remove perceived obstacles, are capable of.

Songs: The songs by Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy were another highlight of the film. Soft rock mixed with different styles of music really showcased the talent of the trio. It proves that not every song has to be romantic to be a hit. A couple of minor nuance was that sometimes Salman and Ajay were not in sync when singing at the concerts (maybe it was the copy) and sometimes the voices between the two would change even though the background singer was the same.

Other Technical Aspects: The direction was done beautifully, the editing good. Cinematography was amazing. All three aspects really captured the emotions that were portrayed. The movie was fast-paced and cleanly portrayed the struggles, both emotionally and physically, between all the actors.

Final Product: This movie was good but has a selective audience.

A storyline that is the extension of Chandramukhi has the same formula but dulls in comparison to the first movie.

Venkatesh was fascinating to watch. He was given enough opportunity to showcase his talent, which without a doubt was amazing. His range of emotions was versatile, and of his characters had their own feel.

Anushka came in the second half and she was amazing. Her dancing was full of grace and despite her small screen time, her character was etched well.

Avinash was good as a Acharya.

Shraddha Das & Richa Gangopadhyay both acted well. Their characters were given enough screen time to develop and help the story progress.

Kamalini Mukherjee's character was okay. She neither added nor took away from the movie. Unfortunately she was not given enough scope to fully develop her role in the film.

Poonam Kaur and Sujitha were not necessary for the film. They had only a small part to play and were not necessary for the film.

All the other characters were okay. The comedy scenes with Brahmanandam were not really funny, even though Venkatesh was good at delivering his dialogues.

The songs and background score were adequate. The cinematography was nice but the screenplay was okay. The build up to the climax was okay, but the actual climax was so-so.

The positive aspects of the film were the story line, Venkatesh, Anushka and Avinash. The rest of the cast could not measure up to the original cast of Chandramukhi.

From the director who gave hits like Athadu and Jalsa, comes another entertaining movie, Julayi. Allu Arjun has donned a new avatar acting as a carefree and intelligent man with a purpose. His dialogue delivery is a plus point in the movie. Ileana, as an innocent girl, is given a role to play instead of just being a glamorous eye candy. Unfortunately, it was slightly off-putting to see her because she was a bit too skinny. Sonu Sood, as the antagonist, was great. His character was a perfect parallel to Allu Arjun's. The comedy scenes were executed well and did not interrupt the flow of the story. The screenplay was refreshing. The songs were nice, with DSP as music director. The editing and direction were both good.

Always given a role that was slapstick, it is refreshing to see Vadivelu in an acting role that requires him to do more than just get soundly trashed. His first project as a hero is certainly worth watching. He does not have typical characteristics of a "hero" but that does not deteriorate the movie. Rather, he does justice to his roles. The supporting casts are good as well. Each have a purpose that enhance the story.

The credit goes to Chimbu Deven for writing an excellent screenplay and for his directing skills. The dialogues are the highlight of the film and the comedy is a mix of both written and body language. The editing was great, because the movie did not lag as most historical dramas tend to. The songs were okay, almost feeling like a parody to the olden days.

Overall, this movie is done well and is worth watching.

An experimental movie by none other than a talented director Puri Jagannadh gives viewers a story from a typical masala movie. The concept was original, the actors were great, songs were not bad, direction and cinematography were interesting.

Ileana D'Cruz was definitely the star of this movie. Her interest in videotaping suicides seemed unique gave her contrasting personality. She played a lovable but emotionally distant girl with a dark past.

Rana Daggubati was great as a professional killer.Conflicted with the notion of right and wrong, he embarks on a journey of redemption. Just 2 movies old, he is proving himself to become a bankable star.

The rest of the cast were good. They had a role that was important to movie as opposed to just being placed there.

The comedy was funny but seemingly cheap/vulgar. Puri Jagannadh is known for great comedy sequences but Ali and Mumaith Khan were an odd combination.

This movie is good for fans of Puri Jagannadh, Ileana or Rana and for those who are tired of the same masala entertainment.

A slick screenplay + Mahesh Babu + Puri Jagannadh = Business Man

A combination that rocked the screens before almost created another blockbuster. The concept was new but for viewers who are not fans of either Mahesh Babu or Puri Jagannadh may not appreciate this movie too much.

The beginning seemed to make no sense but as the movie progressed things began to piece together. A few scenes with Kajal Aggarwal and her friend seemed odd in the movie. Kajal definitely overacted and had no substance in this time around. If her parts were cut out, the movie would have still been the same.

Mahesh Babu's new avatar is indefinably worth seeing. A charming and cute boy-faced man has turned into a rugged tough guy. He reminds audiences once again that he can carry any type of role with ease. His dialogue delivery was superb and his style was unique.

True to his words, Puri Jagannadh does make movies for the sake of making a movie. He deviates from his usual style and presents a different take on movies.

The cinematography is worth mentioning because it really enhanced the movie. The editing was awesome, making the movie quick and enjoyable. The songs are good too.

Overall, this movie is different and a must watch for fans of either Mahesh Babu or Puri Jagannadh. Those not familiar with either of their works may find it hard to understand.
