Tangled
(2010)

Get tangled up
I only know a little bit about the original Rapunzel story, so when it comes to a Disney adaptation, I am not going to compare it in any way or know everything that it might be hinting at that connects to the original story, but I do still have interest on seeing Disney's take on it; after watching, I will say that Disney's adaptation on Rapunzel is a fun and enjoyable animated experience. The movie Tangled (2010) was a fun and funny animated movie with nice looking animation, fun action, likable main characters, good songs, and an easy to hate villain; I liked how this movie mixes new and old elements by adding more characterization to the characters of Rapunzel and Flynn Rider, emotional and psychological aspects to the main character's journey, new characters added to the story, and the magical healing powers that come from Rapunzel's long hair.

Rapunzel was voiced very well by Mandy Moore, with her giving the personality of being a little naive on how she does not know much about the outside world while also being adorable, but also, she could be brave, clever, or adventurous; I liked the determination of her wanting to leave her tower and wanting to make her dream come true by seeing the floating lanterns from a celebration in the kingdom, while learning who she really is. Flynn Rider was also voiced nicely by Zachary Levi, with him giving the personality of being daring, confident, and a bit arrogant but kind at heart when going from well-known thief to helping guide Rapunzel around to see the floating lanterns, while also building a cute romance with each other; he was just, like Rapunzel, a funny and likable character that you like watching from beginning to end. Lastly, the comic relief involves Rapunzel's pet chameleon named Pascal and a guard horse from the kingdom named Maximus, who are funny with the horse having a tough personality when looking for/attacking Flynn Rider and eventually joining his side to help.

The villain named Mother Gothel, voiced well by Donna Murphy, was an easy to hate character with her manipulating Rapunzel to not leave the tower, and use Rapunzel's magical hair for her own selfish needs for reasons that connect to Rapunzel's story about who she really is; also, the villain acts a bit off that can be weird in some scenes involving her trying to keep Rapunzel in the tower, or just her acting like a strict parent to keep Rapunzel off the idea. The 3D animation is pretty with it making a nice medieval sort of fantasy like world, with fun and funny action scenes, and funny moments with the characters; the message to the movie involving following your dreams and self-discovery is nicely handled, and watching Rapunzel progress in the story to become free and being able to take care of herself when needed to was nice to see.

The movie Tangled (2010) was a fun and funny animated movie with nice looking animation, fun action, likable main characters, good songs, and an easy to hate villain; it mixes new and old elements very well by adding more characterization to the characters, emotional and psychological aspects to the main characters, new characters added to the story that were funny, and the magical healing powers that come from Rapunzel's long hair was also used very well in the story. I will just that it is ok if you are not well averse to the original Rapunzel story, but if you are a fan of Disney and like their animated films, then you are going to enjoy this movie; this is Disney's fiftieth animated film, and that is impressive by showing how far Disney has come, so I do recommend watching this movie if you haven't already, and it is also worth revisiting whenever you have the time.

Woody Woodpecker Goes to Camp
(2024)

Camp woodpecker
I did not like the first movie Woody Woodpecker (2017), and thought it was an unfunny annoying at times kid's movie that felt like they were just trying to capitalize on the nostalgia of the character Woody Woodpecker, which is why I was confused on why there was a sequel movie being released seven years later on the streaming service Netflix; after watching, I will say that this sequel was bad, but It was at least better than the first with it feeling like there was effort put into it. The sequel movie Woody Woodpecker Goes to Camp (2024) has a few entertaining moments, good CG 3D effects for Woody and other characters, the performances were good enough, and there were a few more funny moments in this than the first; the issues involve the by the numbers villain plot in finding gold at the camp, some immature humor that is expected for a movie like this, and random little moments that were not needed that could have been cut out of the scenes.

The main kid characters were not bad with ok performances, and each kid having their own quirk to them will help themselves and their side of the camp later in the film, but there are also other kids on the opposite side of the camp who are more aggressive and competitive who give an over-the-top performance; the camp counselor at Camp Woo Hoo is supportive and is trying to motivate her campers to believe in themselves to defeat the competition, while the counselor at Camp Hoo Rah is pushing his campers to defeat their opponents in intense ways. There is a whole thing going on in the story involving the founder of the camp, the gold he has hidden, and the feud between the two sides at the camp, though interesting, was just foreshadowing for upcoming events that involves how they find the gold and how to take care of a certain situation; this also just gives a reason for a side cartoon antagonist to come and try to sabotage things to get to it. Lastly, though one half of the camp had ok performances, and the other half had some over the top performances, they were likable enough and the interactions between them and Woody worked well with the CG.

The antagonist is a character named Buzz Buzzard, voiced by Kevin Michael Richardson, who is trying to trick one of the counselors into helping him find the gold hidden at camp, which is a straightforward plot, but it mostly involves him failing at getting rid of Woody Woodpecker who is trying to help the campers that can be occasionally funny; there is also Wally Walrus voiced by Tom Kenny who is the inspector who could shut the camp down if there are any more damages or safety violations. Woody Woodpecker has an occasional funny moment with the CGI 3D effects on him and the other characters looking believable and like they are in each scene interacting off the human characters; the movie was a bit funnier than the first with there being an occasional joke and fourth wall break that did work with also slightly funny visuals, but there were, for the most part, awkward jokes that do not work and could have been cut out entirely.

The sequel movie Woody Woodpecker Goes to Camp (2024) has a couple entertaining moments, good CG 3D effects for Woody and other characters, the performances were good enough, and there were a few more funny moments in this than the first; the issues involve the by the numbers villain plot in finding gold at the camp, and some awkward jokes and line of dialogue. Last thing I will say is that I thought this movie was going to be worse than the first, but it was not, but it still could have been better; you do not have to rush to Netflix to see this sequel, but for those who did not like the first movie, this is worth just one watch.

Resident Evil Village
(2021)

Somewhere beyond terror
This game takes place three years after the events of the game Resident Evil 7: Biohazard (2017), a game I had fun playing and thought it was one of the best games in the Resident Evil Series, but now we have this eighth installment as the conclusion of the story for Ethan Winters from the previous game; after playing, I can say that this eighth entry was just as great as the game before it making it worth a playthrough. The eighth installment Resident Evil Village (2021) was a fun and creepy time with more likable characterization to the main character, fantastic graphics, easy to understand gameplay mechanics, an investing story, and effective antagonists; this game kept the first-person point of view, like the previous game, so it got me invested and made me feel like I was Ethan going through these many horrific situations.

The character Ethan Winters has more likable characterization than he did in the game before this, with him being forced to look for his daughter that was taken and brought somewhere to a village, and while playing you can feel his determination to find his daughter by going through everything being thrown at him that is supposed to get in his way or just try to kill him; also, there is something going on involving Ethan's wife Mia and the character Chris Redfield that I will not spoil because it involves a major reveal. The four lords and lead mother you must deal with in the village and other locations were creepy and disturbing, and they have quite a few effective scares with you having to hide from them making a lot of suspense; each lord has a certain ability that can be a pain to go up against with them hunting you down and trying to kill you in brutal ways, leading to you having to hide and use certain weapons that can be effective when fighting back.

The game was creepy and disturbing with highly effective scares and effective sound design when walking around the village and other locations, along with the locations having a very unsettling and creepy vibe, mainly the snowy village, making the game very investing to play; the graphics look nice and are exceptionally smooth and fluid moving with fun looking combat scenes, creepy looking monsters, and eerie looking locations that can effectively hide monsters in the dark or in ways to scare you. The use of the first-person point of view again got me invested in this game like the previous game, and it gave me a fun experience when going through the game from beginning to end, along with easy-to-use gameplay mechanics and new elements to the game; the game sticks with the horror focus but also makes a good balance between that and the action scenes that will occur while playing. Lastly, you are also solving equally challenging puzzles, which there are more of than in the earlier game, with them being spread out around the village and other locations, along with lots of locked doors to open.

The game Resident Evil Village (2021) was fun and creepy to play like the last game, it did freak me out most of my playthrough with its great looking graphics, highly effective scares, easy to use gameplay mechanics, and antagonists that were highly effective when it came to being scary and disturbing; along with the new first-person point of view getting me immersed into the game while playing it. I will end my review by saying that this eighth installment is another favorite of mine in the Resident Evil video game series, and I highly recommend it for those who loved the previous installment and for those who are on board for whatever comes out next for the Resident Evil series; this game was fun to play, and I will play this game again to see if I missed in any minor details in the story, so go and play this game whenever you have the time for an enjoyable experience.

Kung Fu Panda 4
(2024)

Dragon Warrior to Spiritual Leader
The Kung Fu Panda movies from DreamWorks are fun and funny with Kung Fu Panda 2 (2011) being my favorite, the first movie Kung Fu Panda (2008) being my second favorite in the series, and the third movie Kung Fu Panda 3 (2016) being very good just not as good as the first two; though they should have stopped after three I was still hoping the fourth movie will be a good movie, and after watching the film, I can say that this fourth and final installment is very good. The movie Kung Fu Panda 4 (2024) was incredibly fun and funny with beautiful animation, likable old and new characters, fun and amazing looking action sequences, and great voice acting; the villain was cool but could have been in the movie more because of what she can do and who voices her, with the movie occasionally being predictable, which is why I say this is not as good as the first two films but is as good as the third film.

Jack Black is once again fantastic as the character Po making him still a funny and likable character, with him being used to the Dragon Warrior title and protecting people everywhere in the valley of peace; I do like the premise of him having to train someone else to be the new Dragon Warrior despite not wanting to, but also having to come to grips with himself by accepting change to his life. The new character named Zhen, voiced very well by Awkwafina, being a thief dragged in to help Po on his mission to stop the main villain, was funny and a likable character with her and Po building a good friendship and working well together throughout the film, and her learning to trust people again after something that happened in her past. Lastly, you have Po's dads Mr. Ping and Li, voiced great again by James Hong and Bryan Cranston, who were funny, and they follow Po on his journey thinking he might not be able to defeat this new threat but also learn to change for the better; also, though Shifu is not in the movie that much, Dustin Hoffman voicing him again is great and he had some funny moments with him trying to get Po to find a new Dragon Warrior.

The villain The Chameleon was a cool enough villain with Viola Davis doing very well in voicing her, though she has a plan of stealing other kung fu masters fighting skills to take over the valley of peace, she needed more of a backstory and needed to be on screen more because of how cool she was; also, though Tai Lung is not in the movie that except for the third act, it was still cool to have Ian McShane back to voice him. The animation was beautiful with its pretty landscapes, details/textures on the characters, and being able to be fast paced when needed to for the action; the movie was very funny, and the action sequences were amazing with the fast-paced animation style and nice visuals making them incredible and fun to watch. Last thing, the movie can be a bit predictable at times so you might know where it is heading, despite it not harming what I think about the film, there were a couple of moments I was not expecting.

This is not as good as the first two films but is as good as the third film, and considering this is the fourth entry in the series, it could have been worse that what we got since fourth installments in big, animated franchises like this can be bad; luckily, Kung Fu Panda 4 (2024) was very fun and funny with beautiful animation, likable characters, fun and amazing looking action sequences, and great voice acting. I will end by saying that this is a nice ending to the Kung Fu Panda franchise, and they should stop here without making another one; DreamWorks has made a fun set of animated movies for us to watch with a likable main character and a likable actor voicing him, that being Jack Black, which is why I highly recommend watching these four movies whenever given a chance.

Resident Evil 7: Biohazard
(2017)

Fight your fears
This Resident Evil game goes back to basics of the original with it being in a secluded like place with the horror survival focus, where most of the installments have that same focus but with small action elements, there is also Resident Evil 5 (2009) and Resident Evil 6 (2012) that are more action focused and stray from what Resident Evil is; after playing, I will say that this seventh installment of the mainline series was great to play. The game Resident Evil 7: Biohazard (2017) was a fun and creepy experience that did freak me out more often than I was expecting it to with its fluid nice looking graphics, effective scares, easy to grasp gameplay mechanics, and antagonists that were highly effective; what was also cool was the new first-person point of view that immersed me into the game while playing, and it made it feel like I myself was going through everything my character goes through.

You play as Ethan who goes on a search for his missing wife Mia, and it leads him to an abandoned house with a mysterious creepy family with evil and secrets, and that is all I can say about the main character or anything that relates to what the game is about without going into any spoilers; you do not get that much characterization for Ethan, that is mostly because you are playing in a first-person point of view to make it feel like you are there experiencing everything yourself instead of the character you play as. The family you must deal with in the abandoned house and other locations were creepy and disturbing infected people that are easy to hate, and they have quite a few effective scares with you having to hide from them making a lot of suspense; each member has a certain ability that can be a pain to go up against along with them each being creepy on their own.

The game was very creepy and disturbing with highly effective scares and effective sound design when walking around the house and other locations, along with the locations having a very unsettling and creepy vibe making the game very investing to play; the graphics look nice and are exceptionally smooth and fluid moving with fun looking combat scenes, creepy looking monsters, and eerie looking locations. The first-person point of view got me invested in the game and it gave me a fun experience when going through the game from beginning to end, along with easy-to-use gameplay mechanics and new elements to the game; what was cool was that when you play a VHS tape you can play out the event playing on the tape to see what happened and you can use that to be a step ahead of the antagonists. Lastly, how this game goes back to basics like the first game involves a lot of walking around, rationing your ammo, saving/using certain weapons, and solving equally challenging puzzles that were needed to be more of when walking around the house and these other locations.

The game Resident Evil 7: Biohazard (2017) was fun and creepy to play that did freak me out most of my playthrough with its great looking graphics, highly effective scares, easy to use gameplay mechanics, and antagonists that were highly effective when it came to being scary and disturbing; along with the cool new first-person point of view that immersed me into the game while playing, and it made it feel like a real situation I was in. I will end my review by saying that this seventh installment is another favorite of mine in the Resident Evil video game series, and I highly recommend it for those who are newcomers to Resident Evil or for fans out there who have not played the game before; this is absolutely something I am going to go back and play again.

Deeper than your darkest fears
I did really like the first game Resident Evil: Revelations (2012), this game took place between the two games Resident Evil 4 (2005) and Resident Evil 5 (2009), along with the game feeling like two my favorite installments in the series put together, that being the first Resident Evil game and Resident Evil 4 (2005); this second game to that takes place between Resident Evil 5 (2009) and Resident Evil 6 (2012). The game Resident Evil: Revelations 2 (2015) was as good as the first game with it being scary with a creepy setting, investing and likable characters, easy to understand gameplay mechanics, and a story you want to see more of; there might be an occasional line of dialogue that can be weird and a recap and preview for every episode that can get annoying to see every time, but you can skip them so it was not much of an issue as it could have been.

I liked being able to play as Claire Redfield since Resident Evil 2, with her being kidnapped and finding herself on this island without knowing how it happened, and she is still a likable character that you like to play as and succeed on your mission to escape and find out who did this to her; along with new member of TerraSave Moira Burton who works with Claire to get off the island and both of them work very well together once you are able to switch characters on multiple occasions. The other two characters you play as are Moira's father Barry Burton and this little girl found on the island named Natalia who goes with Barry who is trying to find his daughter and Claire, while bonding with Natalia, and learning about his relationship with his daughter; you can play as the little girl and she certain abilities that can help. Lastly, I will just say without spoilers that it is revealed when certain events took place when playing as the characters, and they connect in some way I was not expecting when going back and forth with each character.

Like the first Revelations game, I like the setting, the idea of being stuck on a monster/mutant infested island and trying to escape just sounds cool, and it was also creepy and did freak me out a couple of times while playing; also, the mutant monsters can be difficult to defeat depending on what weapon you use and what character you are playing as, with an occasional cheesy funny line of dialogue. The graphics are nice to look at and the gameplay mechanics are easy to use with you having to switch between the character you are playing as and the person you are with to do certain things; a creepy atmosphere with a good sense of danger whenever you are near a monster/mutant, and I will not spoil a reveal of a certain character who is responsible for what is happening, I will just say that it was surprising to find out.

The game Resident Evil: Revelations 2 (2015) is worth a playthrough with it being scary with a creepy setting, investing and likable characters, easy to understand gameplay mechanics, and a story you want to see more of; just watch out for a recap and preview cutscenes for every episode because it can get annoying to see every time, but you can skip them. I will end my thoughts by saying this is what makes Resident Evil fun to play, having it be a creepy survival horror game, and that is what the fifth and sixth game had lost track of; this is worth playing for those Resident Evil fans out there, and for people who just want to play a fun, creepy, and enjoyable horror survival game.

Baiohazâdo 6
(2012)

Evil affects everyone
I very much liked the Resident Evil game that came before this one the same year, that game being Resident Evil: Revelations (2012), that game combined both of my favorites in the series, that being the first Resident Evil game and Resident Evil 4 (2005), and made a creepy fun game; the game that follows in the same year was not the best in the series, but it was not anywhere near being bad. The game Resident Evil 6 (2012) had characters that were enjoyable enough to play by having familiar ones and new ones, the gameplay mechanics are easy enough to use, the graphics are well-done, and I did have fun playing the game; a major issue that can be found in this is the same issue that was found in the game Resident Evil 5 (2009), and it is that this game is more action focused and less survival horror focused like most of the Resident Evil games are supposed to be, which is why this game is hated on by Resident Evil fans who have played it.

Playing as Leon S. Kennedy or his partner in the first campaign and Chris Redfield or his partner in the second campaign was cool, and I like how on both campaigns they are aiming to get rid of or deal with a new virus that has been made and spread around the city, despite having separate ways in doing so and going after a person to save/protect or hurt them. The third campaign where you play as new character Jake Muller who has a significant role in the premise involving the new C-Virus and him having a connection with a character from previous Resident Evil games; he would sometimes be fine to play as, but also needed more characterization, along with his new partner Sherry Birkin who also was from the previous games. Lastly, the fourth and last campaign is where you play as Ada Wong who is on her own kind of mission that connects to the other three campaigns, it is mostly just her finding out certain information that ties back to her in some way and fight back against the new Neo Umbrella.

Each campaign goes a different route in the story and somehow connects to one another in the end, just not as well as it should, and they each have a different length when it comes to playing each one, with Leon and Chris's campaigns being the longer ones and Jake and Ada's campaigns being the shortest ones to playthrough; the story in all the campaigns do feel disjointed as it jumps to a different point in time as you progress through the story ending a chapter. The mechanics were not difficult to use and the way the game looks is well-done, with nice looking graphics and what not; the other major problem, other than the story and some errors in the game, is that the game is more action focused with big over the top action sequences with infected people and mutants, when it should have kept going with the survival horror focus that made us love the Resident Evil video game franchise to begin with.

The action focus is going to turn Resident Evil fans away from playing this game again or at all, which makes sense, but it did not make me upset because I did have fun playing the game, even though the main story can be a bit messy with some errors during cutscenes and missing the horror survival focus the games are supposed to have. Lastly, the game has easy to understand mechanics and puzzles with nice looking graphics and enjoyable enough main characters, so I will say it is worth playing at least once; I understand the hate for this game, but I did not think this game was awful, though this is one of the low points in the series next to the game Resident Evil 5 (2009), I did not hate this game like most people who have.

No Way Up
(2024)

The plane crash was just the beginning
This movie just looks like a standard VOD shark movie with a premise that seems impossible but could work for a thriller like this, but I was not expecting that much from this movie because of how bland it looked; after watching it, I can say that I was right for calling it a bland movie because it was bad, not entertaining bad, but just a boring kind of bad. The movie No Way Up (2024) was just generic bad with bad performances, average effects, sharks that are barely in the movie, and hard to see moments of the sharks attacking; the characters are too bland with the plane scenario having potential to work, but the script and everything else around the premise made the movie less thrilling and more boring to watch.

Every character on the plane is forgettable with most of them being annoying, at least most of them did not do much when it came to figuring out how to get out of the sunken plane, except for one person who also occasionally does not do much; most of the passengers on the plane are killed off because of the crash, and the people left in the crash get slowly picked off by sharks whenever there is supposed to be some tension in a scene. There is nothing to say about these people or anything they do, they just do stupid things, get killed off very slowly one by one, and can be annoying; I know I do not have much to say about them, but this movie does not have me invested in them or the little backstories they talk about at some point, along with them just being generic.

For this being a shark movie, I expected the sharks to be in the movie more than they did, they are there for an occasional attack scene of them dragging the characters underwater, but also the shark attacks are not that great; the shark attacks are not as bloody as they are supposed to be in a rated R movie, and they are hard to look at because of the uses of the shaky cinematography. The premise to the movie could work, because the idea sounds like it could work as a thriller, but the script, characters, and cinematography is done well to make this movie good; the location and where the movie takes place is good and I can see the potential for suspenseful scenes and for tension, but instead I was not invested enough to feel any suspense or tension taking place.

The movie No Way Up (2024) was bad with bad performances, average effects, sharks that are barely in the movie, and hard to see moments of the sharks attacking; the characters are too bland with the plane scenario having potential to work, but the script and everything else around the premise made the movie less thrilling and more boring to watch. I will just say that this is not worth watching when you could watch better shark movies, or better bad shark movies; this is not an in-depth review of this movie, but because the movie is generic, there is not much to talk about, so this is all I can fully say about it.

Despicable Me 2
(2013)

When the world needed a hero, they called a villain.
The first movie Despicable Me (2010) not only was a very good movie and was successful, but it was also the first animated movie from the animation studio Illumination that got it to be as well-known as it is today; the sequel Despicable Me 2 (2013) that came out three years later after the first was a very good and entertaining follow-up. The sequel Despicable Me 2 (2013) was funny and entertaining to watch with well-done animation, great voice acting, effective emotional moments, and fun action involving Gru, Lucy, and the minions; there is a little side plot going on at the same time as the main plot, but it was funny enough to be fine for the movie, with the minions obviously being for the kids and bringing the childish humor to the film.

Steve Carell still does a wonderful job voicing Gru making the character a funny and likable character, with him being recruited into the Anti Villain League and him working with AVL agent Lucy when looking for a certain serum used in a plot from another villain; I like how Gru takes on the role of being an agent for a secret team while taking care of his three daughters, and the three girls Margo, Edith, and Agnes voiced again by Miranda Cosgrove, Dana Gaier, and Elsie Fisher who are all funny and there is some kind of side plot going on with Agnes, but they are still likable and entertaining with Gru being a protective parent at times. Gru's new partner Lucy voiced by Russell Kristen Wiig was a funny character and I liked seeing her and Gru work together and build chemistry with one another when they are going on certain missions to find a serum the agency is looking for, and how they can seem like opposites by the way they act; also, at the same time Gru's minions mysteriously disappear because of a plan being put together from the actual main villain, which can be funny, and the minions themselves can be funny despite being there for immature childish humor.

The main villain that Gru tries to prove to the agency that he is still around, which is big reveal on who it is, so no spoilers but I will say he is voiced well by Benjamin Bratt; he is a funny, who does use and steal Gru's minions for a certain plan he has been working on for years, while also just trying to have Gru join him because of the last movie. The 3D animation is well-done, the minions are funny in the scenes they are in, and the action scenes are fun to watch; the look of Gru's lab and gadgets are cool along with the look of the AVL tech and headquarters, but also that the weapons used are cool when used on people; the movie does go more into a spy movie, and I liked that direction it was heading. Also, there are some songs by Pharrell Williams that are nice to listen to, along with there being quite a few heartfelt moments between Gru and the three girls or Gru and Lucy when Gru is being a protective father and building a relationship with Lucy.

The sequel Despicable Me 2 (2013) is as enjoyable and entertaining to watch as the first, because it has well-done 3D animation, quite a few funny moments and memorable lines of dialogue, and incredibly good voice acting; Illumination still did an excellent job with this movie, though it is not a perfect animated movie, it is still fun to watch for both animation fans and families. This movie is worth watching and rewatching like the first, with this being a good sequel to a movie that got this animation studio started; a great follow-up to a great animated movie that I recommend.

Evil takes a new form
This installment in the Resident Evil video game series takes place between games Resident Evil 4 (2005) and Resident Evil 5 (2009), the fourth game being one of my favorites in the series and the fifth game being good just not as good; after playing the game Resident Evil: Revelations (2012), I can say this is a well-done addition to the series, and better than the fifth game. I had a fun time playing the game Resident Evil: Revelations (2012), it takes two great games, the first Resident Evil game and Resident Evil 4 (2005), and combines them together making a game with a creepy setting, well-done gameplay mechanics and graphics, familiar and new playable characters, and an investing enough story; though knowing what button to press can be easy to understand, but since I played with a controller, I would accidentally press the wrong button when trying to use a weapon or item, along with an occasional cutscene that is not needed.

You mainly play as Jill Valentine and occasionally her partner Parker Luciani looking around the ship for Chris Redfield and his partner Jessica, I like playing as Jill again because she has been a well-developed character through the games that makes her more of a likable character; I also liked her partner Parker who was also a likable character and has a backstory that involves an outbreak in a more modern city, but also Jill and Parker worked well together. The other character you will also be able to play as the character Chris Redfield in a couple of episodes/chapters with him trying to find Jill and Parker, and his partner Jessica who has a backstory of her own that is revealed later in the game; both Jill and Chris work for the Bioterrorism Security Assessment Alliance checking out a ship infected with monsters, and I liked going back and forth playing each character to see their side of the story, along with learning backstory from a character and getting to play it out yourself as that character to see what happened to them during that time.

I like the setting on this ship because it did feel creepy with sudden appearances of virus monsters in several rooms or around many corners, and can creep you out when you hear noises or creepy voices when walking through hallways, solving puzzles, or trying find certain items; the graphics for the game is well-done and the over the shoulder camera angle is easy to use and makes it easier to look around the many areas you walk through. The gameplay mechanics are easy to use/figure out with there being an occasional control that can be a bit difficult, but overall, the mechanics are easy to use, and you can get through the game smoothly when you know what to do; for me, the game was easy to get through on the normal difficulty, so I finished the game in at least two days but it might take a while for you to complete depending on how long you take in the boss battles. Lastly, the game is split into twelve episodes with an unnecessary "previously on Resident Evil: Revelations" cutscene at the start of every episode, though this can be annoying to watch every time, but luckily you can skip them to save time.

I had quite a bit of fun playing Resident Evil: Revelations (2012) and being creeped out while playing it, with its likable characters, easy to use controls and gameplay mechanics, good looking graphics, a creepy setting on a ship, and an investing enough plot; this was a good game to tie in the fourth with the fifth game, and I will say this game is up there with the first Resident Evil game and the other game Resident Evil 4 (2005) on how much I had fun with it and liked it more than Resident Evil 5 (2009). I do recommend giving this game a playthrough if you are trying to play the Resident Evil games in chronological order, or if you just want a good horror survival game to play; I would go back and play this game again, and I'm glad this stays true to what the Resident Evil games are supposed to be when it comes to a fun and enjoyable horror survival game.

Napoleon
(2023)

He came from nothing. He conquered everything.
Though I do not know that much about Napoleon Bonaparte and his history, I only know certain bits and pieces of his story, along with me not being that into historical films but willing to give this film a chance; also, what got me at least interested in the movie was seeing how director Ridley Scott would portray or show this story on this person's rise to power and becoming a French emperor. The Ridley Scott historical movie Napoleon (2023) was ok, it had good performances with nice cinematography and entertaining battles, but the movie's pacing is slow with it all together being a mess on how scenes are put together and the movie feels longer than it is; there are interesting scenes with there being less focus on the battles, and there is more focus on Napoleon Bonaparte and his wife Josephine, which can be disappointing if you just came to see how the battles will be portrayed.

Joaquin Phoenix gives a satisfactory performance as Napoleon Bonaparte, seeing him have this kind of whiny authority when he is either talking to his wife, talking to any other person, or when leading his soldiers into battle that could get annoying, but you get used to it and deal with how he is supposed to act; we see him go into battle occasionally, which can be cool to see, but we mostly see him with his wife and making himself emperor. Vanessa Kirby also gives a satisfactory performance as Napoleon's wife Josephine Bonaparte, her and Napoleon were shown with chemistry, and you can tell that they have some connection in some way after many occasions of big events taking place; also, she is focused on in the movie more than the battles, which is fine, but it should have been evenly balanced with battles and his relationship with his wife. Lastly, there is a side plot involving Napoleon wanting/trying to find a child/an heir that is started in the second act being made a big deal, but by the third act, this side plot is not referenced or mentioned again; which makes it pointless, or they did not have enough time to develop it in any way.

The pacing in this movie is slow making the movie feel longer than it is, with it being a mess when it comes to putting scenes together, going back and forth between a battle sequence and dialogue scenes involving him and his wife or him becoming emperor in some way; it also cuts during scenes to another scene making it a bit difficult to tell what is happening, other than having random slow moments that are drawn out. The cinematography for the movie, mostly in the battle sequences when they occur, makes these scenes feel big and look good on how they show each army and how Napoleon leads them to battle; the movie felt longer than it is, but also, it felt like it needed to be longer just to tell more of this story and get more details on what happened, instead of going from scene to scene without much of a reason or main focus to know what is happening to both Napoleon and the soldiers in the many battles they go through.

Napoleon (2023) was ok, it had good performances with nice cinematography and entertaining battles, but the slow pacing made the movie feel boring, with it just being a mess on how scenes are put together and that the movie feels longer than it is; I am not big on historical films, but this movie is not bad, if you like Ridley Scott and are interested in knowing the story of Napoleon Bonaparte, then this movie will be for you. Lastly, I will say, this movie could have been better, but it was not that bad, I just will not watch this movie again anytime soon because of how long it is and how slow it feels when watching it; not one of Ridley Scott's best movies, but it is good enough.

Biohazard 5
(2009)

A fear you can't forget
The last installment in the Resident Evil video game franchise was Resident Evil 4 (2005), my favorite so far in the series, I was hoping that the next game Resident Evil 5 (2009) would be at least as good as the fourth game; though Resident Evil 5 (2009) is not as good as the game before it, it was enjoyable and fun enough to play despite the issues it has while playing. Resident Evil 5 (2009) was enjoyable to play with its good graphics, likable enough main characters, gameplay mechanics that can be difficult at first but easy to understand as you progress, and occasionally there will be an unintended funny line of dialogue; the game mostly has issues with the co-op controls when controlling your partner, and the fact it feels less like a survival horror game and more like an adventure game with horror elements in it.

I like being able to play as Chris Redfield again since the first game, and that he is trying to find his old partner and stop Albert Wesker, who is involved in some way; the main premise just involves him trying to defeat and escape the current virus situation going on in Africa and other areas, but also, he is a likable character you like playing as. Chris's newer partner Sheva Alomar is tagging along on your mission and can help you out a lot during many battles, but mostly she was hard to control her with the weird co-op controls and use/switch weapons with her during many boss fights or just shooting infected people; other than that, Sheva and Chris Redfield work well together throughout the game.

The gameplay mechanics take some getting used to once you start the game, but once you know what to do, you will get the hang of it along with it keeping the same over the shoulder camera shot of the characters making it easier to move around and see things near you; the graphics while playing and in the cutscenes are good, but sometimes the lines of dialogue did not look like it was synced up to the lip movements, and there can be unintentionally funny cutscenes. The co-op controls were what made it difficult to move my partner around the room, swap items and weapons, and trying to heal each other whenever we can; she made things difficult when trying to get past infected zombies and virus monsters, solving puzzles, or trying to help each other when being attacked. Lastly, I wish the game were more survival horror focused than adventure focused with horror elements, though the adventure tone in this game was fine, I just wanted this game to be more like the other Resident Evil games.

Resident Evil 5 (2009) was not as good as the video game Resident Evil 4 (2005), which you can say makes this game disappointing, but I still enjoyed playing it regardless despite the issues with the co-op, the tone of the game, and an occasional thing going wrong because of the mechanics; the game has good graphics, it is fun, it is difficult but easy to understand, and it has likable playable characters. This worth playing at least once, but if you want a better experience, play Resident Evil 4 (2005) and you have more fun with it; Resident Evil 5 (2009) is not bad, but it is not the best, it is just enjoyable enough to get a good enough experience from it.

Biohazard 4
(2005)

Evil evolves
I have heard from many people, mainly Resident Evil fans, that the original video game Resident Evil 4 from 2005 was their favorite in the Resident Evil video game series; not only that, but this is the game that started the transition into the over the shoulder camera angle and new mechanics for the games moving forward, so there was quite a bit I was looking forward to when going into this. The video game Resident Evil 4 (2005) was fun, creepy, investing, and enjoyable to play, with it also being equally difficult and easy to understand with its different gameplay mechanics and simple but effective story; there might be those out there who will have trouble with the new camera angle it uses and some of the controls, but once you know what to do and get the hang of it, it gets easier to get through the game.

I like being able to play as Leon S. Kennedy again since Resident Evil 2, because I like how he has evolved as a character in this, with him being a federal agent and trying to save the U. S. president's daughter from a cult; playing the game it shows him being a cool character and have a nice friendship with the president's daughter Ashley Graham once he does find her and tries to bring her back home. I liked Ashley Graham and her friendship with Leon throughout the game as they work together in multiple occasions when it comes to puzzles or any room/area they go through; it makes it harder when you are shooting enemies, and you must protect her from getting hurt or being taken away, which can be a pain but easy to figure out once you know where she is and what weapons you are using against them. Lastly, the threat consists of cult zombies and these two higher ups who are leading this cult, which is interesting that they are living not dead cult zombies that can be a pain to kill along with a bunch of certain kinds of monsters that can be a pain to kill; it depends on what weapons you decide to use.

Though the over the shoulder camera angle can be a bit difficult to maneuver at first when you start the game, but the more you play the game you get the hang of it and have more control over it, which makes some of the major boss battles or just shooting cult zombies easier when it comes to aiming at them and shooting them in weak points; also, look out for any quick time events during cutscenes or while you are playing, because they can catch you by surprise. Other than the graphics looking good and the new mechanics being easy to understand, there are quite a bit of puzzles to solve that can be easy to figure out or difficult to solve; along with there being merchants at every save point for you to sell stuff, buy stuff, or upgrade your weapons, which I always need to do in order to win boss fights easily.

After playing this game, I agree with every Resident Evil fan on this game being great, and will say that this is one of my favorite Resident Evil games in the series; Resident Evil 4 (2005) is a fun experience playing with the new mechanics and camera angle that would spread to the future Resident Evil games, with it having occasionally funny dialogue, easy to use mechanics, nice graphics, and two likable main characters you get to play as. I would recommend playing this game for those who have not yet, but I also recommend playing the other Resident Evil games that came out before this so you can compare them and see how different they are to one another; this is a Resident Evil game I will want to go back and play again whenever I have the time to do so.

Argylle
(2024)

The greater the spy, the bigger the lie
Director Matthew Vaughn has made quite a few good movies like the movie Kick-Ass (2010), or the movies this will be compared to being the three Kingsman movies he made that involves a satire on spies/secret agents like James Bond; though his most recent movie Argylle (2024) seems to follow the Kingsman movie's footsteps on having a satire on spies, the premise itself and the main cast chosen for the movie was what got my attention. Director Matthew Vaughn's movie Argylle (2024) was an entertaining and fun action comedy that has a great ensemble cast, entertaining action, well-done cinematography, and good enough effects; though the few issues it has makes this movie not as good as the director's Kingsman films, it is still a good movie regardless, unless you are getting tired of these spy satire films from him and want something different.

Bryce Dallas Howard was particularly good as the lead character Elly Conway, being a normal person who authors a famous book series then being dragged into the spy world because of how exact her book series is to real events, she gives a satisfactory performance when it comes to being worried or panicky when being put in these intense situations; I did like how they show the fictional character Argylle as someone she sees when she is writing a story or she uses him as a coping mechanism. The person who brings Elly Conway into the spy world is Aidan Wilde played great by Sam Rockwell, who was very funny in many scenes was in either persuading Elly that he is a spy or trying to tell her how her books connect to real events; Bryce Dallas Howard as Elly and Sam Rockwell as Aiden worked well together, and I liked the banter back and forth they do when it comes to certain situations in the movie. Lastly, though not in the movie that much, Henry Cavill as Argylle in Elly's books was entertaining, and he gave a satisfactory performance, along with John Cena, Dua Lipa, and Ariana DeBose also giving entertaining performances as the fictional characters in the book series.

The main antagonist Director Ritter played well by Bryan Cranston does not have much to him except to be a standard villain you would see in a spy movie, with him wanting codes or information on some sort of MacGuffin everyone is trying to get to that you know little about; also, he has a connection to a character played well by Samuel L. Jackson that ties into it in some way. The movie itself did have fun but dumb action sequences with fun choreography, but the movie did feel cluttered from time to time because a lot of things are happening at once with them going from place to place and there being quite a few twists and turns in the movie that you can either be surprised by or see coming; there were also uses of CGI in some action scenes or mainly on an animal being a cat, some of the CGI you will notice and some you might not notice while watching.

If you like Matthew Vaughn as a director or if you like the Kingsman movies, then you might like his movie Argylle (2024) and have some fun with it just like I did, despite little issues with it that could have been fixed and made better; the movie was funny, it had entertaining performances, fun but dumb action sequences, well-done choreography, and a premise they execute well. Lastly, I will just say I know there are people that might be tired of the whole spy satire premise from Matthew Vaugh, but I do think he does it well and in an entertaining way, which is why his Kingsman movies worked out very well; this movie is not as good as his Kingsman movies, but it is still a good movie; I know there are people who do not care for this movie and are tired with the premise of a spy satire, which I can understand why, but I liked this movie and will watch it again whenever I am given time to do so.

Madame Web
(2024)

Her web connects them all
I do know the basics on Madame Web's backstory in the comics and what her powers are, along with her having a major role in multiple Spider-Man comics that tend to involve the Spider-Verse; I know all the hate for the Marvel movies associated with Sony and the Spider-Man universe they are making, involving their past Spider-Man spinoff films like the Venom films and the Morbius film, so it makes sense why people are not that big on a Madame Web movie. The movie Madame Web (2024) was disappointing because it had potential to make a cool and interesting movie on an interesting Marvel character, but instead it felt like a missed opportunity, especially since the main premise is just the Terminator story put into a Spider-Man movie; the movie is between having decent and bad acting, it has poor script, it tends to not make sense, its characters are not that developed, and mediocre CGI.

I know there are people who do not like Dakota Johnson because of past movies she has been in, but she was not bad in the role of Cassandra Webb/Madame Web, she just did not have that good a script to work off to make the character likable or interesting, along with her working as a paramedic having little interest for saving these three girls throughout the film; she has an occasional line that could be funny because of her dry humor, but overall she is just trying her best to make it work. The three girls Julia Cornwall, Anya Corazón, and Mattie Franklin, played ok by Sydney Sweeney, Isabela Merced, and Celeste O'Connor, all got annoying from time to time with them not listening to Cassandra Webb and just doing dumb things that get them in trouble; they each have a little bit of backstory, but it is rushed by, and we just go off of the fact that they become heroes like Spider-Man in the future. The last thing I will say about Cassandra Webb/Madame Web and the three girls is that they had little to no chemistry with one another, so I could not connect with them as much as I wanted to while they are trying to protect themselves from the main villain.

The main villain named Ezekiel Sims was not played that great by Tahar Rahim, with this villain having a connection to Cassandra Webb's mother back in the day, there is not much backstory about why he is trying to kill the three main girls, except because they become spider people in the future and kill him while also not giving a reason why they would kill him; almost all of his lines of dialogue were obviously bad ADR and did not match up with his lip movements, and he has this Spider-Man looking suit that looks a bit silly and comes out of nowhere in random sequences. Ben and Mary Parker played by Adam Scott and Emma Roberts are not bad in the movie, but they are not in the movie that much and they do very little, except give us references to Spider-Man and how his life might go in the future; this can be annoying by how in your face it can be, especially since there are moments that were supposed to have a Spider-Man reference in it but was cut/edited out, either have no references to the character or have references that are not awkward.

The script was poorly put together with a lot of bad lines of dialogue making scenes awkward, especially since you are not attached to the characters that much, and there are lots of scenes in the movie that do not make sense; there are moments that are awkward and slow because these moments did not need to happen, along with there being moments where the main characters make dumb decisions leading to trouble with the villain finding them in some way, along with there being lots of scenes in the movie that does not match the previous scenes it showed with a different vibe. There are a few sequences in the movie I thought was not bad, and occasionally an action scene can be good enough with its occasional ok CGI effects; the way Cassandra Webb uses her abilities was not bad, though it could have had better ways to show how she sees the future, and Cassandra's backstory involving a jungle in Peru, a spider that gives you powers, and a weird clan of spider people was interesting but made no sense at certain parts of the movie when you really think about it.

If you did not care for any of Sony's other Spider-Man spinoffs, then this movie will not win you over, and I can understand why this movie was hated by lots of people; the movie Madame Web (2024) has decent performances from the lead stars, a bad performance from the villain, ok CGI and action, dumb scenes and scenes that make no sense, and mostly nothing that we saw was explained that well, along with it having a badly put together script with bad lines of dialogue. All I will say is that the movie was not good, but it was not completely awful, it has an occasional good action sequence and some interesting ideas that should have been explored more; not an awful movie, but I did think it was an extremely disappointing movie.

Resident Evil Zero HD Remaster
(2016)

Before the Mansion. Before the disaster. Evil is Born
I know that the original prequel video game Resident Evil Zero came out in 2002, but the version I fully played was the video game Resident Evil Zero HD Remaster that came out fourteen years later in 2016 after the original; so, I am just going to give my thoughts on only this version since I have not played the original with the weaker graphics, also because this version is just the original game just with better looking high-definition graphics. The prequel game Resident Evil Zero HD Remaster (2016) was enjoyable to play with likable characters, good gameplay mechanics, nice looking graphics, and an investing on its own story that connects to the events of the first game very well; the only thing that can be issues is that occasionally the camera work can make moving around the locations difficult when maneuvering past zombies or solving puzzles.

You get to play as/switch between two characters who is S. T. A. R. S officer Rebecca Chambers, and escaped convict Billy Coen who each have certain abilities to solve puzzles and progress in the story; Rebecca Chambers is a likable character who wants to learn more about the Umbrella Corporation and must find a way out of a Umbrella training facility, having to work with Billy to get out but she also bonds with him after learning more about him. The second character Billy Coen becomes more of an interesting character once you learn more about him and how he became an escaped convict, throughout the game you start to grow a liking for him like Rebecca does; Rebecca and Billy both worked well together, and I liked playing as them in many scenarios and puzzles. I will lastly add that there are not that many other characters other than the antagonist does have a big reveal to him I will not spoil, and he is just the main cause of everything happening to you throughout the game.

The game mechanics are a bit different involving switching characters, switching items between characters, and having the characters interact off each other, but other than that, it is like how the first game worked and it gets easy to control and know how everything works once you get the hang of it; the issue is the same issue I had with the first game, and that the fixed camera angles in every area or room makes it hard to see where some things are, like things to pick up or zombies/mutants around the corner near you. It still has the option to save at typewriters like usual, but there are no item boxes to put your stuff in, so you must leave the stuff you do not need or need later right onto the floor in a room you can remember to look in again; it only bothers me a little bit that there were no item boxes to make it easier to store items, but it is not that big of an issue with the game.

I know this game has mixed opinions from Resident Evil fans, some do like this game, and some do not care for it, but I do think this game is underrated because I had an enjoyable but fun time playing it; it has some small issues, but it has likable playable characters, nice looking graphics, good mechanics, an investing story that connects to the first game, and difficult but possible to solve puzzles. Lastly, I will just say that the prequel Resident Evil Zero HD Remaster (2016) is worth playing, though not the best in the Resident Evil video game franchise, I still had an enjoyable playing this game.

Resident Evil 3
(2020)

Zombies and their Nemesis
I know the original Resident Evil 3 video game came out in 1999, but the version I fully played was the Resident Evil 3 Remake that came out twenty-one years later in 2020 since the original; so, this is just going to be my thoughts on only this version since I have not played the original, and because this remake is also said to be more of a re-imagining of the original; also, I was hoping this this would be as great a remake as the Resident Evil 2 Remake that came out in 2019. The remake Resident Evil 3 (2020) was fun to play, but not as good as the Resident Evil 2 Remake from 2019, mostly because the game feels short and could have been longer, along with there being some issues you might notice; to be clear, this game is not bad, it just could have been better or as good as the other remake.

I like that you get to play as Jill Valentine as the main character, though she does not have much characterization, all you get for the most part is that she wants to take down Umbrella and cure the virus plague; she teams up with another character named Carlos Oliveira, and I did think they worked well together. The character that teams up with Jill Valentine named Carlos Oliveira did have some characterization to him that was interesting, with him working for Umbrella but wanting to help people and have second thoughts about who/what he works for; Jill is hesitant to work with him at first, but he shows that he is trustworthy throughout the game and there will be missions where he has to help Jill in some way. Lastly, the group of Umbrella Biohazard Countermeasure Service mercenaries Jill teams up with has mercenaries who try to be nice and want to help people, while there is another person who is the opposite and will cause trouble to you making you hate this character.

The game's graphics are amazing to look at showing lots of details involving fights, exploring a lot of areas and buildings in Raccoon City, the cutscenes, and the main threat involving the creature known as Nemesis; the creature Nemesis is a pain to fight, and he follows you around making getting to places harder when he appears in front of you and attacks with big damage, but he could have been more threatening like Mr. X from the Resident Evil 2 remake by being more creepy and following you everywhere you go in a more ruthless way. The gameplay mechanics are easy to understand and are just like Resident Evil 2 Remake's mechanics, but the game just felt short when playing because when I got to a certain part in the game, I realized where I was felt like the finale of the game once I started doing a final boss fight and I got a long cutscene, which is why I want this game to be longer than it is.

I have not played the original from 1999 so that could be better than this remake, but I did have fun with the Resident Evil 3 Remake (2020), I just think it should have been longer and that there was more characterization for the main characters and the antagonist, along with there being hardly any puzzles to make you think or key items you need to get into certain areas; despite that, the game has excellent graphics, easy to use mechanics, an investing story, and likable enough playable characters. The game has some issues that could affect the game, but it is still enjoyable to play as; this is worth playing if you love the original just to enjoy the new looking graphics and gameplay, or if you have not played the original before, this is still worth playing at least once.

Resident Evil 2
(2019)

Return to evil
I know the original Resident Evil 2 video game came out in 1998, but the version I fully played was the Resident Evil 2 Remake that came out twenty-one years later in 2019 since the original; so, this is just going to be my thoughts on only this version since I have not played the original, and because this remake is said to be more of a re-imagining of the original. The remake Resident Evil 2 (2019) was fun to play with its fantastic graphics, its updated mechanics, and new and improved gameplay on how better the camera works and how it is easier to pick up items and run around the police station when looking on the map; this remake made lots of certain zombies or monsters, like a being named Mr. X, who is more of a force to be reckon with when running around the police station.

You can choose to play as either Leon S. Kennedy or Claire Redfield, though I chose to play as the character Leon S. Kennedy, both Leon and Claire are likable with good voice acting making them incredibly good playable characters, with Leon S. Kennedy being new at the Raccoon Police Department, still learning things new things, and wanting to do his best to stop Umbrella because of their damage to everyone in the city in his story; along with Claire Redfield trying to look for her brother Chris Redfield and try to look after a little girl she comes across on her mission in her story. As you progress in the story you will meet more characters that will give you more information on Umbrella and what is currently happening, adding more lore to the story on top of what was said/shown in the first game making it even more interesting, and it makes your characters interesting by what they choose to do in the cutscenes and how they are going to deal with an issue with the new information they learned.

The gameplay mechanics are improved on with better controls on how to use your weapons, check your inventory, and pick up/use objects you find when wandering around the police department or any other location you get into; what helped was the over the shoulder camera angle so you can move it around and look around the rooms you go into to notice any zombies or monsters near you. You get the hang of the controls once you know what to do and you can enjoy the amazing graphics that makes everything creepier or chilling when walking around the police station or any area and you run into a zombie or monster in front of you; I was invested in the game from beginning to end with how the story progressed, how the characters acted in certain situations, and how everything comes together by the end of the game with reveals/revelations that can be surprising if you do not know what to expect. Lastly, the puzzles in the game are difficult to do but fun once you know what you need for them, making them easier to do once you know what you are doing when running around the police station looking for anything you need.

I know the Resident Evil games or just the second game is well-known like the first game, and playing the second game after the first makes me like this video game franchise more, which is why I highly recommend giving the Resident Evil 2 Remake from 2019 or the original from 1998 a playthrough if you have not already; this game was a fun and creepy zombie survival horror video game that is worth playing. The game only has a very minor issue that does not affect the game that much, which is why this game is close to perfect when it comes to having an enjoyable time with a Resident Evil game; this is worth playing if you love the original, or if you have not played the original before.

Resident Evil HD Remaster
(2015)

High-definition zombie survival
I know the original Resident Evil video game came out in 1996 and had a remake in 2002 six years later, but the version I fully played was the video game Resident Evil HD Remaster that came out thirteen years later after the remake in 2015; so, this is just going to be my thoughts on only this version since I have not played the other two versions, and because this version is just the original game just with HD graphics. The video game Resident Evil HD Remaster (2015) was a fun, difficult, and engaging game that has good enough characters, an interesting enough story, and good enough high-definition graphics that makes the game easy to look at while playing; the only thing that can be issues is that occasionally the camera work can make moving around the mansion difficult when maneuvering past zombies and through the many rooms and areas in and around the mansion.

You can choose to play as either Chris Redfield or Jill Valentine, though I chose to play as Chris Redfield, both Chris and Jill are likable with good voice acting making them good enough as playable characters, and you are learning certain secrets about the Umbrella Corporation or other characters the same time as them making you invested in the game. Though there are other characters like Albert Wesker or Rebecca Chambers, they are not in the game that much other than in cutscenes, and they will show up when it comes to having the story move forward; I will not go into any spoilers for those who have not played this game, but I will say there are certain reveals and revelations I found interesting and surprising while playing, leading to me running around the entire mansion to solve well-done puzzles, find cool looking rooms, and weird/strange zombies in lots of rooms and occasionally around every hallway.

The gameplay mechanics can be simple, but it can also be difficult, once you play the game for a certain amount of time you get the hang of it and know how use stuff like your weapons, inventory, or any items you come across; what can make it hard to move around in the mansion is mostly because of the fixed camera angles in each hallway or room making it hard to see where things are, like things to pick up or zombies around the corner. The high-definition graphics look good and gives the mansion a nice creepy feel to it with there being a lot of zombies or any monsters that happen to come after you once you notice them; I will also add that the cutscenes are well-done and I was invested from beginning to end with the story, characters, and the many difficult or just hard to figure out puzzles throughout the mansion making you run around and memorize the map of the place so you can get through the game quickly once you know what to do and where to go.

I know the Resident Evil games or just the first game has a bunch of fans, and playing the first game has made me a fan and will play the rest of the games, which is why I highly recommend giving the video game Resident Evil HD Remaster from 2015 or the original from 1996 a playthrough if you have not already; this game was a fun and creepy zombie survival horror video game that is worth playing. Plus, I know people have nostalgia for the original 1996 version of the first game, but as someone who had not played the original 1996 version and only now started and finished playing the remastered 2015 version, I had fun with it; I am glad that I played this video game, and I will play the other Resident Evil games whenever I am given the chance or the time to.

Ralph Breaks the Internet
(2018)

Wrecking the internet
The first movie Wreck-It Ralph (2012) was a great animated movie from Disney that focused on retro video games and video game characters who had their own lives outside of just being a character in a game we play at arcades, making the movie funny, have likable characters, and use excellent 3D animation to bring these characters and video game worlds to life; the sequel six years later now focuses on the internet, which has potential to be good. The sequel Ralph Breaks the Internet (2018) is not as good as the first, but is still a worthy follow-up with its clever uses of the internet, the fantastic 3D animation, still likable characters, and quite a few funny moments; there is not much of a main villain, it is mostly just Ralph learning to be a better friend to Vanellope, and helping her fix her game Sugar Rush so it can be plugged back in again with Vanellope wanting more as a racer.

Ralph voiced again by John C. Reilly is great at still making the character likable, along with Ralph helping Vanellope with fixing her game, but also learning to be less of clingy person to her and be a better friend; the friendship between Ralph and Vanellope is still well-done, and they work great together when hanging out either in other games or when walking around the internet learning things about it. Vanellope voiced again by Sarah Silverman is also great at still making the character fun and loveable, along with her trying to fix her game but also wanting more as a racer, which involves her loving a game on the internet called Slaughter Race; her and Ralph are funny, and Ralph trying to be a better friend by giving Vanellope space and letting her do what she wants can lead to an effective emotional moment. Lastly, there is a cool character from the game Slaughter Race name Shank voiced nicely by Gal Gadot, who is a professional racer in her game and someone Vanellope looks up to; also, Felix and Calhoun voiced again by Jack McBrayer and Jane Lynch, who are funny, are not in the movie that much despite having a side plot that is not referenced again till the end.

The 3D animation is fantastic, especially in its visuals, not only giving great visuals and details of the video game worlds but also the internet world by showing how big it is with lots of sites, apps, and properties from Disney that you will recognize, and laugh because of how they make fun of them and have the main characters interact with everything; it might seem like advertisements for all of Disney's properties, but how they show them and use them can be funny like when they make fun of their own Disney Princess tropes from past films. The movie is very funny on how the internet world works and how certain games like Slaughter Race work with its intense tone and funny moments, along with some out of nowhere dark moments that can be funny, and a surprising threat revealed by the third act that can also be funny.

The second movie Ralph Breaks the Internet (2018) is not as good as the first, but is still a good sequel with its fantastic 3D animation, funny humor, likable characters, and a great way to show how the internet works with clever and funny visuals or interesting ways to describe it; if you liked the first movie Wreck-It Ralph (2012), then you will have fun with its sequel. The movie was a good fun and funny sequel to a movie that was also fun and funny to watch whenever you have the time; Disney fans and animation fans will love and enjoy both movies for how creative they are with their premises and their characters, and I am one of those people who like this kind of stuff.

Wreck-It Ralph
(2012)

Wrecking the game world
Disney has done lots of animated films, but their movie Wreck-It Ralph (2012) got my attention and will get your attention, because of how it focuses on video games or mainly old retro arcade games that you would go and play in arcades back in the day; after watching, the movie takes the concept of video game characters being living characters and uses it in a fun and clever way, which is what makes this a great Disney movie. The Disney movie Wreck-It Ralph (2012) is a fun and funny animated movie that people who like/play retro video games or any video games will enjoy watching, other than the fun premise, the movie has great voice acting, fantastic 3D animation, noticeable video game references, lots of funny moments, and a well-done villain; the idea of a video game bad guy not wanting to be the bad guy anymore is a good idea, along with that choice causing everything around him to go wrong, and it is handled very well in the movie.

John C. Reilly is great as Ralph making him be a likable character who just wants something better in his video game life, him wanting to be more than just being an unappreciated bad guy in his own game was interesting, and how he goes from the first person shooter game Hero's Duty to the racing game Sugar Rush trying to get a medal proving he can be more than just a bad guy; he was a funny and likable character to follow. Sarah Silverman is very good as Vanellope making her a fun and lovable character who has an ability to glitch, I was invested with her wanting to be a racer in the racing game Sugar Rush and her defying King Candy to be in the race; I like the friendship built with her and Ralph and how he helps her make a kart and get in the race. Lastly, Jack McBrayer is very good as Felix who is a funny character who is the hero in his game and goes to find Ralph to save their game, and he has a lot of moments that were funny that play with how he acts when people play his arcade game; also, a character from the game Hero's Duty named Calhoun voiced well by Jane Lynch, who hunts down these bugs from her game that gets into Sugar Rush, falls in love with Felix, and also has some funny dialogue.

The antagonist is King Candy voiced excellently by Alan Tudyk making him an enjoyably silly and weird character who runs the game Sugar Rush, and wants to keep Vanellope from racing because of certain reasons that are revealed; also, the backstory to him is interesting and is clever on how it plays into the premise of video game characters coming to life and moving from game to game. The 3D animation is excellent with how the video game worlds look, how the characters look, and how it shows how everything their world works; the details in the Hero's Duty and Sugar Rush game is fantastic, and the movie has quite a few funny moments and lines of dialogue, with video game references people will notice, and video game characters people will recognize.

Disney's movie Wreck-It Ralph (2012) is a great animated movie that is fun and entertaining to watch on how they handle this premise involving video games, which is why this movie will connect with people who play arcade games or just play video games in general; great voice acting, excellent 3D animation, funny moments and lines of dialogue, likable main characters, and a silly but fun villain. For those who play video games and like Disney, I would highly recommend watching this movie for how creative they get with a premise like this, and how they develop the video game world; a great animated movie about video games, this is one of Disney's best films.

Megamind vs. The Doom Syndicate
(2024)

Megamind is doomed
The movie Megamind (2010) is one of DreamWorks's best animated films, with a great voice cast, great 3D animation, lots of funny and memorable moments, and fun action; so, having they're being a straight to streaming movie sequel fourteen years later on the streaming service Peacock had me worried because of how good the first movie was and that the original voice cast did not return, after watching, I had all the reason to worry about it because this movie was terrible. The straight to streaming sequel Megamind vs. The Doom Syndicate (2024) is annoying and hard to watch with bad voice acting, bad 3D animation, bad action, and humor that is not written well; this movie will not make sense most of the time, there is a character I hated, and the movie was just poorly put together because of how certain characters will say lines of dialogue but their mouths will not be synced up to match whatever they are saying in the moment.

I do not like the different voice actor for Megamind in the movie, he does not have the charm of the character that Will Ferrell had in the first movie, and this movie changed Megamind's personality by making him unlikable and more of a showoff, and less like a funny likable character you want to root for once his old team shows up because of an evil plan that was made years ago. The character Minion has a bad name change to Ol' Chum and a voice actor that does not work well for the character, Minion is just on his own the whole movie because he wants to do his own thing without Megamind, which leads to him working somewhere else that is just too weird for a movie like this; he just shows up to help by the climax of the movie where things go wrong. Lastly, you have Roxanne Ritchi who is also not voiced that great and does not do much in the movie except be part of this big lie and has a last second change to the character by the end; also, this fan of Megamind named Keiko Morita who I hated in the movie, because she was annoying and was just added in to scenes where she did not need to show up in.

The Doom Syndicate with the members named Lady Doppler, Lord Nighty-Knight, Pierre Pressure, and Behemoth who were awful villains that got annoying and did used their abilities for stupid things that made no sense, especially since they start out tricked by Megamind thinking he is still evil; the third act with them and other villains was just hard to watch. The 3D animation is terrible with looking like a low budget movie they dumped on a streaming service, instead it makes the characters not look good and it did not make any of the action scenes fun to watch; the movie is filled with lots of dumb scenes that made the movie hard to watch and the movie felt longer than it was, along with the movie just being boring from scene to scene with their being too many dialogue filled scenes that have nothing funny being said from anyone.

The terrible sequel Megamind vs. The Doom Syndicate (2024) is not worth watching at all, which is why I highly recommend watching the original first movie Megamind (2010), because while that movie was funny and fun to watch, this movie was boring, badly animated, and not funny making the movie hard to watch; the only reason to have it on is to put it on for any little kids that happen to be in the room as a distraction. If you want a continuation to the first movie, I recommend checking out the short from DreamWorks Megamind: The Button of Doom (2011) because it has the same voice actors, the same great 3D animation, and the same funny humor from the first movie; spend your time watching that than wasting your time on this.

Kung Fu Panda 3
(2016)

The weight is over
The first Kung Fu Panda (2008) was a great, well-done, and fun animated movie from DreamWorks, and the sequel Kung Fu Panda 2 (2011) is as good if not better than the first with it having an expansion on Po's backstory, fun action sequences like the first, and a great villain making this movie an excellent sequel; so, after watching the third movie, I can say the third movie is very good and close to being as good as the first movie, but not as good as the second movie. The third movie Kung Fu Panda 3 (2016) has fun action, great 3D animation, a good enough villain, and great voice acting from the actors; what was interesting or at least nice seeing was Po and his real panda father finding each other and bonding, with them having to come together because of the main threat coming their way, along with Po finding out who he is and how to harness the power of chi.

Jack Black is still great as Po making this character likable and entertaining to watch, finding his real panda father and wanting to know who he is by learning the ways of the panda in the hidden panda village, and thought that it was nice to watch him interact and bond with his panda father but also his goose father who took care of him for many years; Po trying to learn the power of chi and how he can use it was interesting, and he has to also learn how to be the master and teach the Furious Five. Po's real panda father Li voiced great by Bryan Cranston showed the character is happy that his son is alive, and that he wants to protect his son despite what he does; I liked seeing him and Po bond with each other by teaching Po how to be a panda, and the history of the panda village that can help with a fight against the main villain. Lastly, the group the Furious Five with Tigress, Monkey, Viper, Crane, and Mantis still played great by Angelina Jolie, Jackie Chan, Lucy Liu, David Cross, and Seth Rogen do not have that much to do, but Tigress does help Po and they all do have good moments; also, actor Dustin Hoffman one again great as Shifu trying to get Po to be the master and teach the Furious Five.

The villain Kai, voiced well by J. K. Simmons, was not bad of a villain, but compared to the second movie's villain, he could have been better and could have given more to the character despite having some funny and intimidating moments; he has a connection to Oogway, and stealing chi from people which is why he comes from the spirit realm to get revenge and destroy everything Oogway has done in the mortal realm. The movie great 3D animation which can make the fun action sequences fast and fun to watch and give us pretty backgrounds and locations with lots of details to the characters and how everything is shown; DreamWorks did a great job making these three movies enjoyable and fun to watch, which made this movie not bad, despite the previous two movies being better than this.

If you liked the first movie Kung Fu Panda (2008) and the sequel Kung Fu Panda 2 (2011), then you will like the third movie Kung Fu Panda 3 (2016); though not as good as the previous two films, the movie is still good with its great voice acting, fun action scenes, well-done 3D animation, likable characters, and a good enough main villain that could have been better. I do highly recommend watching DreamWorks's Kung Fu Panda movies if you have not already, and if you have, they are worth rewatching when given the chance; they are fun, enjoyable, investing, and well put together making a trilogy that is not bad and worth giving a watch.

Kung Fu Panda 2
(2011)

Prepare for the return of awesomeness
I liked the first movie Kung Fu Panda (2008) which was one of DreamWorks's best movies, with its great voice acting, well-done 3D animation, fun action, and likable characters; with the sequel you hope it is as good or better than the first movie, and after watching it, you can say that it is a great sequel that expands on the world it built in the first movie and dives more into the main character's backstory. The sequel Kung Fu Panda 2 (2011) is as good if not better than the first movie, with great character development of the main character, fun action, great 3D animation, a threatening villain, and great voice acting; this movie makes the main character Po more interesting with where he came from, and makes the backstory connects to the villain in some great way that is investing to watch.

Jack Black is once again great as the character Po, with him getting a very interesting backstory that connects to the main villain that he is learning throughout the movie, and having character development when it comes to accepting it and finding inner peace; he was funny, interesting, and cool to watch now used to being in the Dragon Warrior role but also learning new things. The group the Furious Five once Tigress, Monkey, Viper, Crane, and Mantis played great again by Angelina Jolie, Jackie Chan, Lucy Liu, David Cross, and Seth Rogen going on the journey with Po to stop the villain, with there being lots of scenes where they work great together as a team in lots of big action sequences; there are also great moments between Po and Tigress with many interactions between them as friends. Lastly, you have some nice appearances of Shifu again voiced by Dustin Hoffman, telling Po about inner peace and how he can you use it to his advantage and just overall how to keep being the Dragon Warrior.

The villain Shen voiced great by Gary Oldman was an intimidating but funny villain that has an interesting backstory to him on why he is trying to take over China, and he has some kind of connection to Po's backstory and where he came from, making a great hero villain dynamic between them when they are both in the same scene interacting off each other. The action sequences are fun, fast paced, and cool to watch with the great 3D animation that gets you invested in what is happening and great visuals, along with the many details on the characters and the pretty looking backgrounds/locations; though the movie is very funny to watch, the movie has quite a few emotional/heartfelt moments that are well-done and can make you tear up when watching.

The sequel Kung Fu Panda 2 (2011) was a worthy second movie to the first, making this movie good if not better than the first movie, because of the great voice acting, well-done character development, a great villain, fun action sequences, nice looking 3D animation, and an interesting way to flesh out the Po character by giving him an interesting backstory; if you liked the first Kung Fu Panda (2008), then you will have a great time with this sequel. Lastly, DreamWorks made a great sequel to an already great first movie, which leads to the third movie; I am going to remember this movie and want to watch it repeatedly like the first.

Kung Fu Panda
(2008)

Prepare for awesomeness
This one of my favorite DreamWorks animated movies, you might think a movie called Kung Fu Panda would be bad or standard, but it is a great animated movie with actor Jack Black in the main role with other well-known actors voicing the other main characters or side characters; the animation studio DreamWorks is great when it comes to its movies, and doing concepts that can only work in animation. DreamWorks's animated movie Kung Fu Panda (2008) is a fun and funny time with great voice acting from the actors, fun action, well-done animation, and a good villain; also, I will add that the characters are likable, especially the main character, and you can get behind them when they do certain things that tie-in to their backstory.

Jack Black does a wonderful job as the main character Po, being a likable character who wants to be a master at kung fu, while also being a fan of the kung fu team called the Furious Five that he makes friends with; Po might be overweight, but he still has a passion for learning kung fu. The members of the Furious Five being Tigress, Monkey, Viper, Crane, and Mantis voiced great by actors Angelina Jolie, Jackie Chan, Lucy Liu, David Cross, and Seth Rogen; though some of them do not have many lines of dialogue, they do look cool in action scenes and give backstory to one of them, leading to Po and them building a friendship and them having respect for Po. Lastly, Master Shifu, also voiced great by actor Dustin Hoffman, he begins with doubts that Po is the chosen Dragon Warrior, but trains him and sees his potential to defeat the villain that connects to Shifu's past; also, there is Master Oogway who helps Shifu on teaching Po and help him be the Dragon Warrior, but also help Shifu on being a master to his students that he is teaching kung fu to.

The villain Tai Lung voiced nicely by Ian McShane was an intimidating enough villain who could be funny at times, but also, he has a connection to Shifu by being his student back in the day before turning him down on giving the Dragon Warrior role to him; because the action sequences are fun to watch, it is cool seeing him attack/fight people. The 3D animation is well-done with fast paced well-choreographed action sequences that are cool to see these characters do, along with all the characters being funny and having their own personality; the movie is just fun and funny to watch with professionally written scenes and dialogue, good direction, and there are moments in the movie that can be sentimental or just pretty to look at because of how the animation is done, especially in the opening of the movie with the use of cool looking 2D animation.

DreamWorks's movie Kung Fu Panda (2008) is a fun and funny movie with well-done 3D animation, great voice acting, fun action sequences, and lots of funny moments; Jack Black is great as Po making him iconic for this role, so fans of Jack Black will like this movie, as well as people who are fans of animation or of the animation studio DreamWorks who have made other great movies before. I like this movie, it is fun watching, it is fun rewatching leading to it having two sequels with a fourth movie coming soon; I do highly recommend giving this movie a watch whenever given the chance, you will have an enjoyable time with this movie.
