Vidas privadas
(2001)

Unbelievable
As in unbelievably bad, that is.

To a reviewer who called it superb, the director owes you big time,as he has at least one (and probably only) fan of his film.

Boring, slow and 90 minutes longer than it should've been, this movie gives nothing but painful shivers.

And, after the end credits finish, the main question persists: What on earth was it all about? Even though I haven't had a pleasure of being introduced to Mr. Paez's music, I am absolutely positive he is a great composer. But let's face the truth...Neither Mozart nor Bethoeven tried to make their living as painters....With all my respect, Mr. Paez, I hope you get my hint.

Don't Shoot the Pharmacist!
(2008)

Pure fun
When I went to see this film I've prepared myself for a mediocre no budget independent production. I would normally skip it but since it was directed by someone I knew personally, I wanted to provide my support no matter what.... Oh, my, was I wrong!!!!

I absolutely loved this film, from the first shot up until the end. Filled with jokes and slapstick comedy situations, it was very well scripted, directed and acted. The shooting has actually taken place few years ago on Coney Island Ave, right across 61st pct in Brooklyn in a real drug store which, unfortunately, does not exist anymore.

The cast was at the screening, too, including Ben Bailey (Zack) from "Cash Cab".

It was my pleasure to meet them all.

It is great to see that there are talents not corrupted by the big movie industry who are creative and original. Way to go, Dave Broytman and the crew! Job well done, and from the bottom of my heart I wish many more to come.

Theresienstadt
(1945)

Agonizingly shocking
It has all been said already about this "film". I barely can add anything new.. But...who on Earth would rate it more than 1? I completely fail to understand a reason.

I would've given it 0 if I had a chance but unfortunately I don't. And the rating is 5.2 at the moment of this writing...

What's wrong with people?

Grading it anything more than the lowest possible score certainly serves great injustice to Kurt Gerron and everyone who had fallen a victim of the Nazi's regime.

It was not just another propaganda movie but a death sentence, a mass murder, if I may say....

I wish everyone remembered it......

Master i Margarita
(2005)

Magic on the screen
"Master and Margareth" has always been my favorite book. I have read a lot of books, and none of them had captivated and haunted me in such a way that I would read it again and again and again. It is one of the most unusual and mysterious books ever written in the 20th century. And, finally, there is a movie which is as close to the original as possible. To be honest, there is a lot of really bad movies made in Russia, and most of them are so dreadful that it should be made illegal to pocess them! "Master and Margareth" is a pleasant and distinguished exemption from the endless flood of utterly horrible junk which is called Russian film-making. I really loved the movie. The actors are great, digital photography and the special effects aren't so bad either. Of course, it could have always been better but Russian films never have the same budget as an average Hollywood flick. I enjoyed the way the movie turns from B&W to color and opposite. And the soundtrack is amazing. They should release it separately on a CD.

This long awaited version does not mean that you don't need to read the book. No matter how perfect the adaptation is (it is far above excellent in this case), it can never replace the original. If you've never read it, do yourself a favor and do it as soon as possible. If you had read it before, it is really worth giving it another go. If you do it once every 5-10 years, you will definitely find something new in it.

Finally, it has been released with English subtitles. It would not be really fair to all English speaking scholars, researchers and Bulgakov's lovers who otherwise wouldn't have been able to watch this masterpiece.

Pink Velvet: The Innocence of Lesbian Love
(2003)

Don't be afraid, just watch it!
As they say "it is not your average porn". And that is not. A unique style the movie was shot makes it a real treat for anyone who appreciates erotic movies. Is it hardcore? Definitely yes. Is it dirty and vulgar? Absolutely not. Tender and exquisite, this erotic story is about a young girl named Jo who is staying at a house that belongs to a woman and her teen-age daughter. We have curiosity and seduction, good acting of 5 beautiful women and very well directing. All those components make it a true gem out of many mainstream adult movies. A man had shot a movie that only a woman could've possibly done.

Watch it if you are open-minded and can say beauty when you see it.

Very recommended for couples.
