Spartacus: Blood and Sand
(2010)

Bloody, Sexy, Fun
I have to say this is one of the best shows I've ever seen. Obviously thats a bit heavy, but in my opinion it is true.

I first stumbled across Spartacus about two years ago and it looked intriguing, I watched the first two episodes and wasn't very impressed so I pushed it aside and hadn't thought about it since.

Just earlier this year I started catching up on the first season of another Starz original Da Vinci's Demons and was captivated. Upon start of the second season and the week long wait between new episodes I started looking at other series to watch during the wait and came across Spartacus again. I decided that whether I liked it or not I was going to watch the first season and make up my mind from there, and I'm glad I did.

I do think it takes about 4-5 episodes to get completely enveloped by the story. The sex may be a bit too much for some as they do not hold back at all. The violence is less objectionable as the blood and gore clearly have a graphic novel over-the-top look.

The characters are juicy and their motives are not always clear. I was completely blindsided by many twists that I did not see coming. The dialogue is shakespearean-esque mixed with some modern terms added in. The sets are beautiful to look at and you really feel that you are in the middle of the action. You will be rooting for your favorite protagonists and cursing at your favorite antagonists.

I do think Spartacus is a series you should check out it you want some conniving characters, jaw-dropping story lines, brutal, stylized, fun fight scenes, and an over all feast for the eyes.

The House Bunny
(2008)

Much better than you would expect
One day when i went over to my cousin's house he kept telling me how i needed to see this new movie that he bought called The House Bunny.I saw advertisements for it and it really didn't appeal to me as anything more than another stupid mass-media produced teen flick.I'm so glad that i gave it a change.

This movie is very very funny, with tons of scenes that will have you laughing you a** off.The characters are great, the story line is fun,and there's never a dull moment.Anna Faris did an awesome job playing Shelley the Playboy Bunny who gets kicked out of the Playboy Mansion and goes through funny situations with her new sorority sisters.

If you want to have a good laugh, watch this movie. Please do not believe all the bad hype going on,this is a great movie that i will recommend to all of my friends.

Forgetting Sarah Marshall
(2008)

great movie
i decided to watch Forgetting Sarah Marshall the other day.I've had already been wanting to see it for quite some time but never got around to it.I'm so happy that i did, this movie was great i felt really happy through the whole thing.I loved all the characters, all the actors, the setting, the story, everything. It's not as filthy as you may think, though there are a few scenes with some dirty content the rest of the movie was actually pretty tame, but that is just my opinion. If you saw Knocked Up or Superbad you will probably like this movie.No.it is not copying,it has its own story line with different vibes and emotions.I promise this movie will make you laugh, its not a waste of time or money and you will be glad you made the investment to see it.

One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest
(1975)

great movie!
i was at the library the other day and was looking for some new movies to check out,i had already picked up a few and could take one more out,i came across One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest. i really didn't know what to expect,i heard a few people said that they liked it,and i'm a fan of jack Nicholson,so i figured i had nothing to lose.

My expectations were surpassed, this was a very well made comedy/drama with great characters that have a lot of development.Nicholson was superb in his role as McMurphy. The story was great, the settings were great, all of the acting was great,it was a really great movie.

The only thing i could complain about is how the movie ends.It works, but its not how i would've ended it.If you are looking for a movie to sit at home and watch and enjoy, then give this one a try.I'm sure you will not be disappointed.

The Prestige
(2006)

interesting
i came across this movie while while looking through shelves at the library.i overhead some woman talking about how great she thought it was so i thought i'd give it a try.

the film was a lot different than i thought it would be,but that doesn't mean i didn't like it.the story kept you confused right up until the end. the characters we're developed rather well and you could feel the tension in a number of different scenes.

i really wasn't expecting the movie to end the way it did, because, like a character thought,it was too easy.if you want a film that is entertaining with an original story-line and an allstar cast than look no further.the prestige is for you.

What Happens in Vegas
(2008)

what happens in Vegas
i saw this movie last night when a big group of my relatives and my friend came with me.it was a pretty good movie.the reason i even picked it was because Cameron Diaz was in it and i love her. the story is very simple and most of the movie it was very easy for me to predict what was going to happen next but all in all it was good.some scenes were really funny and had us all laughing out loud.some parts the movie dragged but not for very long.i wont give anything away because its better if you just go and see for yourself. but if you are looking for a non-raunchy,semi-romantic comedy than you will love this movie.i think its definitely worth at least a try.

The Royal Tenenbaums
(2001)

my kind of movie
to start off i have to say that like the other wes anderson films you'll either love this or you'll hate it,not really just think its okay.the first film i saw by wes anderson was rushmore which i absolutely loved.next was the life aquatic which took me a few viewings to love.i think after seeing the life aquatic i got the full taste of what wes anderson's views and directing is like and how all of his movies are subtle and you can tell how much care goes into each scene.the cinematography in his movies is beautiful and stunning.

the royal tenenbaums while being funny is also somewhat dark and in some scenes disturbing.maybe i'm using the wrong choice of words, you be the judge.wes's idea for all the characters and the way they relate and interact with one another is spectacular.you really the whole of the dysfunctional family and see how many of them are unstable.

like i said at the beginning this movie is definitely not for everyone, just like all the other wes anderson movies but if you appreciate cinema and would like to try something new than this movie is for you.

Mulholland Dr.
(2001)

pay attention
i just rented this movie last night after hearing great things about it online and even the reviews on the case.this movie is very strange and a lot different than i thought it would be.pay attention right from the beginning and pay close attention to what is going on and what each character is saying you really can't afford to miss anything.also, don't try to piece together whats going on at all until the end or you will probably be lost.i have to say this is one of the few movies which the story-line went over my head.this film is very complicated.as soon as you think you know what is going on something changes that totally stuns and confuses you.

all in all if you can pay attention to a very complicated decently long movie than go for it but don't be intimidated if you don't at first get what is going on.

The Virgin Suicides
(1999)

beautiful,dreamy,hypnotic,sensual
i first heard about The Virgin Suicides through my cousin who at the time had a crush on Kirsten Dunst. He informed me that this was his favorite movie with her in it.Seeing as i like Kirsten too i thought i'd give this movie a shot.

my expectations were blown out of the water.Right from the start the movie grabs you and pulls you into the sleepy community where the Lisbon's lived.Beautiful and dreamy cinematography intoxicates you and mesmerizes you into feeling the same way as the boys and wanting to know as much as you can about the girl and their life living with over-bearing parents.

It wasn't until later that i realized the movie was based on a book (i don't pay a lot of attentions to credits). The book just like the movie really pulls you in,right from the start. However, there are several changes.the differences in how the Lisbon girls look (somewhat) and the book goes on a little bit longer than the movie and in my opinion the movie has a better ending.

if you are expecting and fast-paced action flick or a gory horror movie this film is not for you.but if you would like to escape reality for a while and learn about the lives of 5 beautiful sisters in the mid 70's than check this one out.

The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou
(2004)

subtle
what made me want to view The Life Aquatic is watching Wes Andersons previous film Rushmore which i thought was wonderful thus provoking me to want and view his other work. The Life Aquatic is not a movie for everyone. You'll either love it or you'll hate it.There's no middle ground. In my eyes it has an original story with believable characters portrayed by great actors. If you are expecting a non-stop,gut-bursting, laugh fest than this movie is not for you.One of the interesting things about this film is that most of the humor is subtle. All in all if you've seen Wes's other work most likely you will like this movie. If you've never seen anything by Wes before consider viewing Rushmore or Bottle Rocket to get a taste of his style of directing.

The Shining
(1980)

one of the very few movies that scared me
When i first went to watch The Shining I was expecting a decent film from what I had heard about it and I liked a lot of Stanley Kubrick's other work but when I started to watch it it was so much better than I thought it would be.At times I seriously felt ridiculously uneasy and I couldn't take my eyes of the screen still there's something very disturbing about everything in the film. Now some people don't like Kubrick's version of The Shining since it doesn't entirely follow Stephen King's book but in my opinion both Kubrick's version, the mini-series and the book are all great.Jack Nicholson gives an awesome performance. If you are looking for a good original movie that will keep you thinking even after the movies over then watch The Shining.

Superbad
(2007)

great movie
up until this time my favorite movie had been grandmas boy.but after seeing superbad i realized that i have a new favorite.i really liked the relationships between the characters and how much fun it was to watch them go through all the events they go through.if you liked knocked up you'll love this movie.i really liked how it was written and i am sure that it will be the funniest movie of the year.if you are not into dirty comedies or are easily offended i would recommend you stay away from this movie.but if your like me i'm sure you'll think superbad is really great.i'd like to see more movies written by Seth rogen and Evan Goldberg in the future.

Beerfest
(2006)

great movie
i've noticed on the message boards lots of people in Europe didn't like this movie.but i don't think the film makers really cared a lot about who the movie offended or not thats one of the reasons why i think this is a very good movie.easy story line two brothers go to Germany after their great grandfather dies to spread his ashes in their family burial ground while they're there when they go to the German beerfest the get in a dispute with their drinking team.so the two of them go back to America to train a team that can beat the Germans.

i swear ever couple of minutes something in this movie got me laughing and i don't usually laugh a lot during movies.i loved the whole time they were trying to train and all the jokes that were said.this is a feel-good movie the kind of movie i like.where you can invite a view friends over drink a lot of beer get wasted and laugh while watching this movie.go see it if you haven't already.

Edward Scissorhands
(1990)

beautiful
the other night me and my friends decided to buy a movie.one of my friends sees edward scissorhands and instantly wants to buy it.i didn't see what would be so good about it but we got it anyway.i mean i liked johnny depp and i wasn't paying so i had nothing to lose.

after the movie i knew exactly why she liked it so much it was a beautiful remarkable film.nothing like it ever.how someone who did so much for free and didn't want anything more than to be accepted gets pushed away.i think there are certain subliminal messages scattered throughout the movie nothing bad just some knowledge.

i just love to watch this movie.how he's not doing anything to harm or scare anyone.he's just trying to help.and when one bad thing happens to him everyone turns their backs on him and shuns him.does this sound familiar to anyone.

if you have never seen this movie then you are in for a really good time.and yes i did cry a little bit.

Up in Smoke
(1978)

if this isn't funny to you, you're thinking too much
i saw every cheech and chong movie and i must say that up in smoke is definitely the greatest achievement.every part of this movie was hilarious.from beginning to end.memorable lines and characters, good storyline and location.and the whole movie i got a really good vibe.its pure marijuana B.S. and its awesome.like who would think of something this outrageous involving marijuana than cheech and chong.and who else who say "your mama" to a pig, excuse me,i mean police officer.its all about not caring letting go and just having a good time and trying to score some weed so everyone can kick back and just chill.nothing really to understand.no confusing storyline,no unexplainable characters,no deep far out meaning, just fun.
