Run Sweetheart Run
(2020)

Whelp. I watched it and I'm not proud
I feel bad saying I didn't like it because I know how hard it is to make a movie! But I didn't like it.

I see what they were trying to do and they almost succeeded. If they carried some of the themes just a LITTLE further, throughout the scenes, it actually would have been fun. But they didn't.

I get it, it was low budget, so they were limited with how they could portray certain scenes. I generally try to not hold that against a movie. And, to be fair, given that it was low budget, they did a pretty good job with set and filming. But the inconsistencies with (ugh I'm going to say it) character development was almost tiresome.

I DID like how they built the story. There were no questions as to what was going on. In some lower budget movies, you're left asking WTH? The touched all the main bases in this script.

Also, I DID like Pilou, the antagonist. He was awesome and I haven't seen him before, though apparently, he's been acting for a decade.

Really one of the best presenters on youtube
I've seen people call his videos clickbait.

They are but it's all part of his presentation and done in fun. He is literally the only presenter I've had do that and not be angry.

More than that, he KNOWS these vids he's sharing might be dubious and presents it as such.

All that being said, his presentations are top notch, professionally presented.

Add to that his world class voice, which is the vehicle he uses to present the material.

His videos are worth the time they take to watch.

I can't emphasis enough how much I'm rooting for him to continue to succeed!

Better Than I Thought It Would Be
I was surprised how much I enjoyed it. The script has moments of comedy gold ~ or maybe it was A moment of comedy gold. The scares have nice attention to detail. This was a fairly well written script.

It really wasn't that scary, and it should have been. But given what it is, I don't think I wasted two hours of my life. Sure, it's low budget, but not no budget. I had it on for background noise and wound up watching it.

If I paid to see it I might feel different.

It was clear that the people making this movie wanted it to be done well. They cared about it. Sometimes, you watch a lord buster and it seems like even the actors just wanted to be done ~ not this one.

I recommend it.

6 Underground
(2019)

It's really a 7-7.5
I gave it a 10 to balance all the ridiculous wanna-be film critics talking about a tired story line.

Really? You're watching a Michael Bay film for character arc?

It's fast, it's fun. The action is diverse. The banter is funny. What else do you want from an action flick.

I'd like to see a part two.

Head Count
(2018)

I loved it
It's a well made movie that does not have a lot of action or gore.

You want action or gore go somewhere else.

I consider this one of my favorite movies.

To the people who are saying 'Nothing you haven't seen before' There is no movie to be made that can do that, only hope you tell the story.

And I LOVE gore they told this one.

The only thing they could have done better is the 'reveal' towards the end.

I get what the critics say about character arc and the initial story is pretty standard. It feels wooden at first. One brother is ambitious one is ambivalent.

Kind of a trope Watch through the first ten minutes and, I think the movie gets near perfect.

Exodus: Gods and Kings
(2014)

Visually stunning, but did they even read the original account?
I was going to give it a 3.

It was an epic and that made it grand but, having read the account from the source, regardless of whether I take it as history or allegory, it was utterly disappointing.

The acting was magnificent. The scenery outstanding. I really did enjoy watching the movie.

I enjoyed the acting.

I too, believe Moses would have been proud and made humble, okay, I'll buy that.

I get it. Scientifically, that might be the thing to do. It makes sense.

There were so many critical moments glossed over or left out, from source material it made it hard for me to watch.

If you think the whole thing is a fantasy, fine. You might enjoy it.

If you put stock in The Exodus writings, again, whether historical or allegorical, you will be disappointed.

Army of the Dead
(2021)

It's a Zombie Flick with Bautista
Okay, I admit. Not Bautista's best. And the other reviews aren't wrong, but aren't we the same group that watched Evil Dead?

If not, then yeah, zero redeeming value.

If so, then... still no redeeming value. Bautista's best when using his comedy and it was appallingly absent. I mean, not just wasted opportunity but it was if the script writers set up the lines and deliberately left us hanging.

Sure there were some plot holes, 6 maybe 7, no wait, that's where I lost count.

What the hell, I've seen worse. Does that count as an endorsement?

If you like zombie flicks, you gotta watch it. Just know, you've been warned. I just wish I cared about at least one of the characters. Even Bautista's daughter wasn't likeable. I know, I liked the locksmith, the coyote and Bautista. Yup. It doesn't really make sense but that's it.

The Haunting of Whaley House
(2012)

I was surprised how good it was for a 'B' movie
I hope, whoever wrote this, gets a chance to go on to bigger things. You can't blame the writer for wooden delivery, poor editing, cliche makeup insert your own opinion the dialogue was entertaining and I found my self laughing out loud at the sarcasm.

Hell House LLC II: The Abaddon Hotel
(2018)

Not Bad but...
This seems a LOT like Grave Encounters. It wasn't bad but it seemed lower budget. (Probably was ~ and that's okay) They did what they could. There were some genuine scares and even some unique scares. In general, pretty good. If you liked Geave Encounters you'll like this. If you liked this, you'll love Grave Encounters

Guns Akimbo
(2019)

I'm watching the second one when it comes out!
I gotta admit, I love all things Radcliffe, from Harry Potter on. And this was fun, too. Kind of like a Jason Statham flick except with Harry Potter all grown up ~ and guns instead of wands. I've regretted some movie choices in my past but not this one. Crazy. Laugh out loud funny. Action. Worth your time.

Dead Before Dawn 3D
(2012)

I Wanna Say Ten!
First ~ this movie is ridiculous, like, not even slap stick humor. It's silly and gross and knows it. It was almost as fun as Zombieland... but not quite... but almost. If you can handle the deliberate campiness, it's fun. I laughed all the way through. Each character played their part quite well. The creators knew what this was and rolled with it and I think pulled it off. A bunch of fun.

Troglodyte
(2008)

Like stuff I used to watch Saturday morning
... in the late '70s. Not sure I can even finish it. But hey, it's something to let play in the background. The monsters are almost cartoonish but passable. Despite how bad it is, I feel compelled to keep watching, so, there's that. Not sure if I'll regret it or not. All that being said, it's tough to come up with a story that has good acting and dialogue and then keep the it moving. The characters are almost cliche (like - REALLY close) and yet, there are some I'm rooting for. Wish me luck. Gonna finish. The fact that I'm warning you before I've watched the whole thing oughta tell you something.

Friend Request
(2016)

Why are so many whining about this
Yeah it was jump scares ~ but they worked on me. People say this has been done before. I suppose using social media as the plot point, sure, but this was pretty well done. I was scared. The light's on in my room! Seriously, though, it wasn't completely predictably. That was good. Here's the thing for me, that makes a movie more complete. The dialogue when the story isn't being pushed. The writers and actors don't try to shove personalities down your throat in the down time. The banter was actually funny. The conversations kept things moving. I though it woulad go one way and it went another. Pretty good movie. And to think I almost didn't watch it because of all these wanna be critics.

Rim of the World
(2019)

Super Cute
I'm looking at all these negative reviews and didn't watch it for the longest time. I don't know what they were expecting. It struck me as a Battle Los Angeles for tweens. Yeah, there's some vulgarity but the banter is fun and definitely something a 12-15 year old would get. Or you could watch it on family night. Just be warned some of the banter was mature. Funny but mature. It might be inappropriate for some but I laughed and smile. Yes it was cheesy. Yes it had moderate special effects. But it was fun and refreshing.

The Debt Collector
(2018)

Just for the banter
This movie was awesome. The dialogue between the two was almost perfect. I look for contrived vs natural and what they had to say in the down moments fit. Funny. Quick. Well choreographed. On par with the best Jason Statham movie. Just a well done action flick

Battle: Los Angeles
(2011)

It's solid fun
I don't know what people are thinking, giving this a 1. This is a fun movie, appropriately cheeses and dramatic. They kill off the right characters to keep you guessing. It's not the best but I really don't know where they could have improved. It isn't Saving Private Ryan. But it isn't supposed to be. I saw someone say the effects were 'okay'. Not sure how they could have been better. I've seen this a few times and would let it play in the background again. It's an enjoyable, engaging movie.

Battle Drone
(2018)

Oh boy... Hard to endorse
I'm a huge fan of Oleg 'The Russian Bear' Taktarov and willing to suffer to support his career. He's actually a pretty good actor and can deliver comedic lines well. But damn. This was too much. I couldn't finish it. Kinda feel bad. The acting was pretty good for a B movie. The concept was pretty cool but for multi million dollar droids, how do they keep missing? The human targets threw around fully automated droids like they were humans. That was tough to watch, the droids should've been too heavy. The droids couldn't hit a moving target? How's that not possible even a kid with a few hours of first person skills could get a person running, but not these things. I love a fun movie and gladly suspend belief but after a while, it just got insulting. I mean, sure, watch if you want. Support my man Oleg! But damn, don't say I didn't warn you!

The Red Sea Diving Resort
(2019)

Great movie
Don't believe the critics! A bunch of idiots say there isn't character development. It's not about a person but an idea. If the movie developed the characters we'd lose narrative on the story and the story is amazing. The only draw back ~ it's kind of white washed. And I'm white. While watching it's easy to think 'white man to the rescue' ~ the major characters were white actors with supporting performances from black actors. It would have been nice to see a bit more of the Ethiopian story instead of just from Israel's side. That being said, it was a great movie. Inspiring, powerful and important, especially given the climate in and concerning Israel today.

The Titan
(2018)

Can't decide 6 or 7
I dunno why all the hate. Structurally, maybe it had some flaws. Have you been to cinema class? Forget about character arc. It was a cool flick. There were issues, though. Why'd she change her mind? What does he eat? Why after fighting going does he decide to go? But really, do you watch every movie and pick it apart and if it doesn't tie up in a neat little package with every question answered you're disappointed? If so, don't watch this. It was a cool idea but there's distinct flaws in the execution of the story. Still, I'm glad I saw it and don't regret it.

Monsters: Dark Continent
(2014)

Why the Hate?
I can't figure out why this movie's so despised. People write about the contrast between gangsta tough then crying like babies have clearly never lived either life. This wasn't a great movie but I was surprised at how well the effects were executed, the fighting was suspenseful and as for the lack of monsters? There were more than the first movie and they improved significantly on the representation. From infant to massive adult , the viewer got the full scope of interaction. I liked it. Like a blend of Cloverfield and (insert fun war movie title). Not as good as Saving Private Ryan but certainly on par with Kilo 2 Bravo ~ and I think better than Jarhead. Way more action than both and good special effects.

The Recall
(2017)

Almost as bad as everyone says
I had to edit my review. The more I watched, the worse it got. Yup. But really, a low budget si-fi with Wesley Snipes? What'd you expect? Wesley's up to his usual over acting and underrated bad acting (is that possible?) if you like him, then go for it. I actually like him in this one. Yeah, it's bad. And it's a shame. $3.5 million budget and that's all we got!? The effects are more like late '80s Saturday morning specials. It was so bad that I wanted to turn it off (I've only done that once) yet I soldiered on for my fellow movie buffs. This is NOT a horror and hardly suspenseful. I mean, I've watched some bad movies, just because I trust no one's reviews. Doing that, I've found a few gems but this one is on par for the worst I've seen. I feel bad saying so because I know the actors took it and were excited to be in a movie and want to be actors but wow. It's a tough watch. I mean, go ahead, do what you want. Don't let me dissuade you from watching this but, don't say I didn't warn you.

Hungerford
(2014)

Pretty cool
There's a lot of hate going on about this film and I don't get it. It wasn't a GREAT movie. Sure, it was low budget. But for low budget they did great. I'd put it on par with Blair Witch. The problem is, it wasn't ground breaking. There's a lot of found footage movies that just don't understand how to film. I could actually watch this and not yell at the camera man ~ I could see what was happening. Maybe don't make this your first choice but it isn't bad if you want to watch a film and you've seen all the big budget (that was my issue). Too often I feel like I've wasted 90 minutes of my life but they held my attention. Little slow to start but picked up and stayed 'strong'.

13 Sins
(2014)

Unbelievably Dark ~ I love it!
Yeah. Be prepared. This movie is terrifically dark. Kind of like Weekend at Bernies without the lightheartedness. But damn. It's funny, too. More than that, it looks at the question of 'What would you do?'. It lays the ground work to understand the character's motivation and then spirals completely out of control in the most deliberate fashion. Well done.

Time Trap
(2017)

At Least it's not a turd
I get all the hate. It's not a great movie. More like your talented friend's college effort. That being said, it's not bad, either. A really cool concept that skips any make-up or visual effects and has the viewer dealing with the idea. The acting isn't great ~ but it's better than a high school play. Seriously, I kept wondering ~ what's going to happen next and the ideas laid out we're cool. You aren't missing much of you do t see this but if you do, just know there isn't a lot of high tech movie making going on but it'd be something I'd like to see remade with a bigger budget.

Bright
(2017)

Great Movie
Critics pan movies like this because they're looking for story lines and character arcs. Watch with fun in mind. This was a seriously good movie. Love, Hate, Power, Greed, Redemption, Forgiveness ~ all of it and as cheesy as it was it was still good. As good as it was, they could have done more ~ shoot, it could be a trilogy. The ideas were unique. The story was awesome. I liked this flick.
