Darcey & Stacey
(2020)

Understand yourself as a viewer first
I gave this show 5 stars because I truly do think its a 50% good and 50% bad because of my own personal beliefs. I am a 90 day fiance fan & have watched since season 1. That being said I remember the Darcey & Jesse days. The reason for TLC giving these ladies their own show was because truly after multiple appearances with different foreign men that question remained "will they find love & happiness?". And for some viewers it truly was a question worth following. Some other 90 day couples lasted, others broke up, I mean look at Colt & Debbie for goodness sake. They keep putting them on 90 day shows because some people want to see them when they're not a couple either. And when you choose to watch something that has your not so favorite cast members in it like pillow talk or strikes back, you have the capability to fast forward. Now in this case, if you don't like the show, don't watch it. If you didn't like the twins to begin with then why watch an episode knowing your not going to like it anyways. Not giving them views would "get them off the air" like all of you cry on here but yet watched even one episode anyways. If you watched the show out of pure hatred for these ladies, then you yourself are the problem. You gave them views & they will stay on air longer. But if you want to see what the 90 day fiance alums are up to now, then watch. If you hate them so much don't put it on. The network doesn't care about random one stars from a bunch of randoms. What makes the decisions are what are professional critics saying & what are the amount of views per episode. As some of you have mentioned the Kardashians, I never once wasted my time on a random review site. I would plainly suggest my case to everyone I knew about why they shouldn't watch it & no one in my family or friends did. And now they're going to be off the air. If you don't want this show on the air do the same & talk to your friends & family who watch this show on all your reasons why not to. Just like with youtube & any media content, its about the views. Even if you're watching in spite, hate, disgust, etc. You gave them one more view, one more person who was willing to hit watch. That is one more reason for the network to keep them on. At the end of the day I hope the Silva ladies find true love & happiness, we all deserve it.

Halloweentown II: Kalabar's Revenge
(2001)

Everyone knows a sequel isn't as great as the first movie
That's where I'd like to start. Every human being who has accessibility to watch films knows that sequel movies generally aren't as great as the first movie for a plethora of reasons that can go deeper than just set or character changes. I enjoyed this movie growing up (this one came out when I was 7) & still enjoy it as an adult. I slightly like this one more than the original because it is a little bit darker with more "dangerous situations" for a children's film. For reviewers who are complaining about the set locations, yes, we are all aware that Halloweentown, Gwen's house & Aggie's house are completely different than the first set. This film is still magical & whimsical. I don't know about you but I loved Gort's house especially. (Which wasn't in the first film) Something to take into consideration is the interior shots of Aggie's house, the original Halloweentown set & the exterior shots of Aggie's house (as you should already know) ARE REAL LOCATIONS with REAL people living & working there & near there. Now I make this a point to consider because the entire plot of the film was fighting the grey spell. Still following me? Now how could a film crew afford or have the approval to take a real life town & peoples actual homes with every object in it & paint them grey & then be able to paint them back for the end scenes. Even if they tried to pitch that, no matter how much tourism Halloweentown brings to St. Helens, there would be residents who would boycott doing that to their town for a movie. So for a Disney, made for TV movie, for the idea they had for a sequel the most feasible & affordable way to create the evil grey spell is on a sound stage. So before you bash the set & set designers, remember that every little object had to be painted grey, the pictures on Aggie's wall, the vase, etc. Remember the accessibility & creativity they needed to create the movie we have now. As far as the costuming in this film, excuse me but this is where Marnie got her magical & recognizable cloak in the Halloweentown world. To be honest that's the only argument I need for the poor costuming reviews that have been left because if it was poor costuming then why do so many Halloweentown fans replicate her cloak? As far as the general theme of someone hurting Hallowentown that's similar with a lot of movies, look at Harry Potter, someone within Hogwarts hurting students & trying to take over the wizarding world. If they didn't have someone trying to take over Halloweentown or hurt Halloweentown residents there would be no reason to visit Halloweentown & that's not the world they created. It's literally in the title "Halloweentown". If it was all about a young witch finding herself in this human world with human problems, I've got bad news for you. It's already been done, it's called "Sabrina the Teenage Witch". My last point regarding their acting, please take into consideration that every Disney actor has had to act in the same kid-friendly, over the top, exaggerated fashion. It happened in That's so Raven, Lizzie Mcguire, Zapped, Zenon, etc. That's how Disney reps like it & that's a known fact. If you want to critique their overall acting ability you need to do your research & watch other productions each character is in that's not produced by Disney. I mean have you seen Phantom at the Megaplex, Underwraps, or Don't look under the bed? It's a Disney theme in itself how they like their acting performed. Long live Halloweentown. 🎃

The Sisterhood of Night
(2014)

If you like Salem Witch Trial vibes
If you like movies with Salem Witch Trial vibes I would say to give this film a try. It is an adolescent female point of view that at times could seem over acted like a play, acting seems over exaggerated. I would relate the acting style & tempo like the movie adaptation of "The Clique". It follows the same basis of the Salem Witch Trials, jealousy & petty arguments turning into mass hysteria. I really enjoy anything that reminds me of that so I can look past areas where some audience members might think is too overacted. I personally think because of it being more kid friendly that this is a film that could be played in schools as a representation of bullying, negative impacts of social media, lying, depression, etc. The heart of this film is kids at a coming of age moment trying to understand & cope with subjects that they aren't given the tools to handle & how they get through it. That is a concept that everyone can relate to. They're just kids trying to figure themselves out with family complications, death, drugs, depression, sex, its a complicated time. Sobering film to remember, they're children.

The Addams Family
(2019)

Not the Addams Family at all.
There was glimpses in the film that reminded me of the traditional Addams family. But truly the entirety of this film tried way too hard & completely missed the mark. It was extremely cringey & upsetting for anyone who grew up with the traditional Addams family. From the soundtrack to the film which was absurdly pop-y & so obviously forced into the film to reach the younger generation. To the voice actors chosen, Chloe Grace is too bubble gum & you could feel how awkward & forced it was for her to voice someone out of her range, Charlize Theron who constantly applied peaks & valleys during her lines that made Morticia seem stuck up & judgmental, Issac as Gomez was a plain flop, Finn as Pugsley was too "leave it to beaver", but Nick Kroll did fantastic as Uncle Fester. The voice actors chosen were sadly picked to be a star cast to bring in their large, mainstream fan base but they are typecast actors at their core. The plot of of the film being Wednesday wanting to go mingle & meet with the people in the city far below but couldn't because her parents are being controlling over her to never leave their home because their criticized for being monsters sounds too familiar. Because it is. This plot for an "angsty" teen girl to go against her parents has been over done & was most recently done in the first film of the Hotel Transylvania series. When in other Addams Family medias, they are portrayed as individuals who applaud differences & are confident in who they are that they don't want or need to hide. No Addams thinks they're above any other Addams, like the one ancestor judging Pugsley for his monster barmitzvah. Deeply disturbed by the Addams allowing their house to be painted pink because the most cited quote from Morticia is that black is such a happy color. If anything, instead of doing a played out children's theme for the movie, I would've enjoyed it more if they took a plot idea from one of the episodes from the original series to build a movie around. I appreciated the animation style to match Charles Addams original New Yorker style & grandmama being Gomez's mother like it was originally vs being Morticia's in later medias. I also appreciated the ending scene doing the exact intro sequence for the 1964 tv show, that was a good nod to the show. But the mark was sadly so missed, if they took more time to establish a better soundtrack that fit the Addams family, picked voice actors based on talent that properly suited the Addams family & what they stand for (not because of their fame or relevancy at the time), & created a plot that followed the morals & values of the Addams family that wasn't so cheesy, forced & absolutely incorrect with the Addams family nature, then they would've done great. And if you're questioning the validity or nature of the the reviewer, this is a review from a girl who as a child idolized Wednesday Addams & wanted to be her when she grew up, never a Disney princess.
