Normally I break down my reviews into good and bad sections. So let's start with the good
Good: Short runtime (85 minutes). This film respects your time and wraps up its awfulness in relatively short order.
Bad: Acting. The Goku actor feel pulled out of a bad CW high school drama. None of the actors feel engaged or like they want to be involved with this mess
Script. Truly awful writing, muddled concept, doesn't have any idea at all what its even trying to say or do.
High School drama. Why is an anime about otherworld martial artists posing as a high school drama movie in the first place?
Action - Terrible martial arts, terrible CG power effects
Its trying to play itself so seriously as well, that you can't even say its a fun romp / camp type movie, it just doesn't work
I can't even speak to the lore / accuracy, as I wasn't a huge dragonball fan going in, though I have it on good authority that the accuracy is on par with the rest of the awful qualities of the film.

More of a mini-movie split into 4 parts than a mini-series, Dream Productions fits smoothly into the canon of the other two movies. The movie introduces us into some inner workings of the Dream studio. The humor and animation quality are top notch, and I continue to love the way the dreams themselves are presented.
The dream makers themselves are an interesting enough bunch, I'm especially fond of Xeni's off beat style
However, it is clear that the writer's didn't have quite the same ingenious spark that they did when writing for the Emotions. As a result, the climatic decision and emotional resolution lack some of that heft of the movies.
In particular it seemed that the main conflict between the dream maker's was resolved a little too cleanly, without our protagonist really learning a true lesson.
So in all, it is certainly not a bad little watch, but didn't wow me the way the two movies did.

A cyberpunk thriller written by William Gibson with a fully hollywood budget should have turned out better than this.
The Bad:
The acting ranges from mediocre to downright bad. Keanu Reeves and Dina Meyer in particular exchange some of the most clunky and hamfisted dialog I've ever heard.
The movie spends far too much time over explaining its sci-fi concepts, from the opening wall of text, to characters delivering paragraph long diatribes about how various techs work.
The Good:
The set design and production does a nice job of delivering a fun and vibrant futurescape, albeit one loaded with camp.
The retro futuristic technology is a riot. Johnny going on and on about how much data 300 GB is, to the whacky VR internet sequences. Really amusing in 2024.
The indifferent:
The movie is very campy. Dolph Lundgren's techno jesus and the psychic techno dolphin were laugh out loud hilarious, but they did kind of undercut any serious tone that the movie might have tried for.
