Layover
(2012)

Liked Layover Lots
I liked this movie. I didn't have high hopes in it because it wasn't promoted like most of the network's movies, so I am pleasantly surprised how much I liked it. I think it is because the lead character was a smart lady who wouldn't give up in finding her "boss from hell" played convincingly by Lauren Holly. She really was very demanding and rude to her assistant, even blaming her for the weather and the reason she had to have a Layover in a city of Detroit. She was very lucky her assistant didn't believe she was fired and could tell she was in trouble somehow when she didn't get the usual phone call berating her for something out of her control. It was good to see Joe Lando in this film as Elliot, the security person. Unfortunately not enough scenes with him, in my opinion. SPOILER: And, it does have a happy ending.

I would definitely watch it whenever it airs again on Lifetime. I hope this one will also go to DVD for purchase.

Perfectly Prudence
(2011)

Chemistry Still There
Spoiler: First, it was wonderful seeing Jane and Joe together in something modern. And I liked the romantic comedy aspect of it all. I thought the casting was done well. Especially the actress playing Angie. She had me laughing out loud. And I was happy to see Joe Lando playing the love interest in this one. He and Jane still have their chemistry between them. For those expecting to see the detective side of Prudence, you would be disappointed. In Dear Prudence, she was on vacation and found herself surrounded with a mystery, but she isn't a detective by trade. Prudence McIntyre is really a Martha Stewart type person and we see more of that in this movie. She is frantically trying to keep her show on the air the way it is, and with the help of family and friends, she is able to do so. I love the tidbits of advice they sprinkled throughout the movie. I would love to see a follow up with Joe and Jane again as Prudence and Jack. Maybe in the next one, they could add a bit of the mystery many seemed to miss in this one, as long as they keep the romance.

Engaged to Kill
(2006)

Engaged was engaging
I watch this movie each time it is repeated on Lifetime. I thought it was engaging to watch with all the ups and downs the family went through. I do agree however that some of the editing did not make sense, and some of the plot lines were left hanging. With this being a true story about Abby Lord, I felt the movie concentrated too much on the daughter and not that of Abby and family. I initially watched it the first time because Joe Lando (who played Sully on Dr Quinn) was in it. I recognized others in the movie as I watched it. The one who plays Nick was also in the movie Vampire Wars with Joe Lando. I recommend this movie to anyone who likes true stories with happy endings. It is no worse than any other made for TV movie on Lifetime, but better than some.

Shadows of Desire
(1994)

Impressed
I liked this movie when it first aired on the USA network. I watch it each time it is now run on the Lifetime Movie Network / Lifetime Network. I thought everyone in this movie played their parts convincingly. I had seen Nicollette's work in Knots Landing and to me the part of Rowena wasn't much of a stretch from her role on the TV series. I was impressed with Joe Lando, who I had watched on the Dr. Quinn series as the good and pure-hearted Sully. His role as the troubled Sonny Snow was played to perfection. In fact, if I had to choose between the two brothers as Rowena had to, without a doubt, I would have chosen Sonny, even though he might have been the most reckless of the brothers. (You will have to watch the movie to see who she chooses and how that affects the other brother.) I thought the script was well written and the plot was made clear. I wish this movie would be put on DVD. I would buy it in a heartbeat.

Combustion
(2004)

Thumbs up for Combustion
I found this made for TV movie very entertaining. In fact, I have purchased it on DVD to watch again whenever I want. I agree that this movie is for entertaining purposes and not mind thinking, but with that said, I thought the plot was well established. I liked that Joe Lando's character, Scott Daniels, was an intelligent man and not some "like duh!" man who didn't know how to do his job. I liked the comradely between Scott and his co-worker. And I thought the special effects were good for such a low-budget movie. The movie is somewhat predictable, but still fun to watch. I highly recommend it to anyone who likes "disaster" movies, or is just a fan of one or more of the stars in the cast. I for one watched the movie because it starred Joe Lando, but found myself intrigued by some of the other characters.

Killer Flood: The Day the Dam Broke
(2003)

Killer Flood Flows Well
I disagree with the comment mentioned here. I believe Killer Flood: The Day The Dam Broke is a very good, made for television movie. I think the plot was well established and made clear from the beginning, as was who is the good guy, and who is the bad guy. Bruce Boxleitner plays the bad guy well. I was elated when the dam bursts and floods him in his car because I felt he got what he deserved for his devious acts that basically caused the dam to burst. I found Joe Lando and Michelle Green had lots of chemistry between them and I really wanted them to find their way back to each other through all the turmoil. And I found the acting to be very believable by all. Especially when David Powell (Joe) and his son, Garth were trapped in the rising water and David had to revive his son. I found this movie to be smart and exciting. I recommend it to all.

Devil Winds
(2003)

Devil Winds was cool!
I loved this movie. I thought the CGI's were good. Sometimes it looked like a real tornado was happening. I thought the actors did a great job with the content of the script. It is a made for television movie after all, not a blockbuster movie like Twister. I own this movie on DVD and love to watch it on lazy weekend afternoons. Personally, I thought Joe Lando, who played Pete Jensen, was fabulous. I loved the connection he had with his partner who chased tornadoes. And Nicole Eggert and Joe sparked some too. The special effects people did great with the budget they had. All in all, I think Devil Winds is really Cool. I recommend it for anyone who is interested in disaster type movies. It is no worse than any other budgeted television movie.
