Mahaan
(2022)

Highly engaging but with some dips in both halves
Karthik Subbaraj returns to form at a reasonable level with Mahaan after a forgettable outing in Jagame Thandhiram. Vikram, as always, gives his best shot and is super effective. The intensity is present throughout, which make the action and emotions work. The film is highly engaging although there are a few dips here and there in both halves. On the downside, the film is a tad too long, especially towards the end. As earlier said, the screenplay is inconsistent at a few junctures and a tighter staging of the plot with more solid moments (in the writing) would have made the film a completely engrossing watch. At times, Mahaan also turns out to be quite predictable. The ending, is partially satisfactory.

Minnal Murali
(2021)

Beyond expectations
This was beyond my expectations. But Basil managed to direct the movie so profoundly with every details being thoroughly gone through. Acting shouldn't be a surprise to anyone. But the way it has been directed, I would say I can see a lot of potential in the Malayalam Film Industry. With such a low budget, this movie is going to change the face of Cinema from Malayalam Film Industry. Hats off guys, couldnt be more proud.

I'm only disappointed by the fact that the movie wasn't released in theatres. Would've been a delight to watch this on the big screen.

Churuli
(2021)

Trapped in a spiral.. Unsatisfied
I really don't know how to rate this one. With Churuli, Lijo Jose Pellisery left me with a mixed bad of emotions. He drew me in with a fantastical story filled with abhorrent characters, and yet he left me underwhelmed when he leaves the narrative with no way out. If that was his intention, then LJP earned his victory, even if the viewer in me felt defeated at the end. Some questions remain unanswered.

#Home
(2021)

A relatable... Feel good movie
Rojin Thomas, who had a promising directorial debut with Philips and the Monkey Pen, seems to have recaptured some of the magic of his debut in #Home. More than a part of that magic is owing to the presence of Indrans, who has delivered a heartfelt performance. From the scenes depicting his struggles with the smartphone - portraying effectively an entire generation's struggles with technology which came late into their lives - to the ones of him hiding his feelings from the eyes of his family, Indrans makes Oliver relatable and endearing. Even without the 'extraordinary' back story. Oliver is made extraordinary by Indrans' portrayal of the ordinary man.

Kuruthi
(2021)

A gripping Home invasionThriller
Kuruthi is tale of vengeance and hate told through a creative portrayal of the often-underused sub-genre of the home invasion thriller. The movie with a slow start becomes very much interesting and engaging later on. The movie shows two types of religious people, some who took the path of violence and others who took the path of justice. The movie shows how religious beliefs can pull down a person as well as endorse him.
