The Wheel of Time
(2021)

A wasted opportunity ruined by bad writing.
What a shame. We waited twenty years for this and it's not a good adaptation. The writers have made far too many unnecessary changes and they aren't anywhere near as good at story telling as RJ was so their changes stick out like a sore thumb and ruin what could have been a great adaptation.

The good : I like the casting, all the actors are doing a great job, even the diversity changes are just fine. The sets aren't perfect but are pretty good. The costumes are beautiful.

The bad : The writing. The changes to the story for no good reason. The giant plot issues introduced when making senseless changes. Also the pacing. 8 episodes was not enough so plenty of things just aren't explained and the story rushes from one place to another constantly.

Also, while the costumes are beautiful they are always too clean and perfect looking. Everything is so clean so it often looks unreal.

Basically, this isn't the same story at all. This is a totally different story with characters with the same names. A totally wasted opportunity.

The story didn't need changing. Cutting down to size for TV certainly, but this many badly thought out changes... No.

I won't care if they cancel this. Listening to the audiobooks is better than watching this disaster unfold.

Black Widow
(2021)

Really enjoyed it, a perfectly appropriate tone for a black widow movie.
A solid movie with good performances. David harbour's Russian accent was bordering on cheesy at some points, as were the family references, but overall I enjoyed it greatly.

Wonder Woman 1984
(2020)

Gal Gadot and Wonder Woman deserved better than this.
This movies (second) opening scene was just so bad. Every 80s cliche rolled together and cemented with terrible overacting and stunts that look very unrealistic. At least Gal Gadot remains awesome. Kristin Wiigs (original) character continues this "larger than life" feeling as does Pedro Pascal.

In fact the whole movie has an overacted cheese to it. Everything is ridiculously comical, and not in a good way because none of it is actually funny.

The stunts all look like they are done on wires. The story is hollow and filled with ridiculous coincidence. The costumes and sets stand out often as all looking fake, too brightly lit, all slightly unreal.

The way that it is all resolved is achieved through some magic satellite and again, is very unbelievable. None of it is very satisfying at all.

At one point wonder woman lassoed lightning. That should tell you everything you need to know.

Toy Story 4
(2019)

Worst toy story movie of them all
Didn't like this movie at all and neither did my kids. Not that it didn't have a couple of moments, but I really thought the overall story was boring. It revolves around "forky" who I absolutely hated so it was off to a bad start early and large parts of it are set in an antique store which proved to be both a boring and a creepy setting. Kids were scared by the weird ventriloquist dummies. All my children rated this as the worst toy story movie and I definitely agree with them. The stand out was bo peep as a rough tough independent woman, but woody really needed a much more exciting story and a better supporting cast. Regretted spending the money to go to the movies for this.

Good Omens
(2019)

Brilliant casting, thoroughly enjoyable - from a true fan of the original
So, I've read Good Omens at least 10 times over my lifetime, and I can honestly say that this mini series does the book justice. The casting is just amazing, David Tennant and Michael Sheen are both brilliant, Adria Arjona was inspired casting for Anathema Device. Sergeant Shadwell was just as I imagined him. Really loved every minute of it, I was only sad that it ended.

It really does capture the spirit of the book. it's not often that an adaptation is this faithful to the source material, but this was really spot on.

Honestly I could watch Crowley and Aziraphale for another hundred hours. Just some fantastic moments between the two of them.

Bonding
(2018)

Really enjoyed this
Quirky premise, simple characters...somehow...I can't look away. Really enjoying it, I've binge watched 6 episodes in a row. It's very light-hearted really, an easy watch. The main actress is pretty easy on the eyes too which helps. I think there are only 8 episodes which is a shame, I hope they make more. Very watchable.

Under the Skin
(2013)

One of the worst movies I have ever seen. Naked Scarlet couldn't even save this absolute dog turd of a film.
This was without a doubt one of the worst movies I have ever seen. I don't know what she was thinking when she signed up to do it. I hear it took ten years to make, well let me tell you it feels like it takes ten years to watch. Nothing is explained, there is no obvious motivation for the main character doing what she does throughout the movie, there is some other character in a motorbike suit but there is no explanation for him being there at all. Often the director seems to think we will be interested with long slow shots of absolutely nothing. landscapes, normal people on the street who have no relevance to the plot. Even the scenes where the victims are being killed are shot in some horrible total darkness. The soundtrack was absolutely horrible as well, like a cat trapped in a sack down a well. Hard to even qualify it as music. Do not waste your time on this total garbage.
