Collateral
(2004)

Nothing special
Frankly, this movie was just a regular shooting thriller, more of an action film actually as there was virtually no plot or plot twists. This could've been a sequel to Mission Impossible or whatever. Tom Cruise delivered his usual performance, i.e. exactly the same as all his other films. Jamie Foxx played a dumb cab driver, nothing memorable. Will Smith's wife appeared in like five minutes of the movie. As I have previously stated, there was NO suspense or plot twists. Only watch if you are a die-hard fan of Tom Cruise in action roles.

I give this movie one star out of ten because you can't give it zero. In summary, a waste of time.

The Ghost Writer
(2010)

Don't believe bad reviews under ANY circumstances!
After reading the 1-6 star reviews on IMDb, I have come to a simple conclusion: those people didn't understand the film, or did understand it and decided it was crap because it was anti-Bush.

Don't believe them, this movie is gold. How can they say it's slow? I can honestly say that I wasn't bored one second, and I have no reason to flatter the film. Furthermore, I'm one to be easily bored with films (I literally almost fell asleep watching "The Bridges of Madison County" the other day.)

Some of the bad reviews don't even mention Blair. I mean, how can you not mention him after watching this movie? It tells you so much about his government and everything that surrounded him.

Tecnically, this film is close to perfection. Pierce Brosnan and Olivia Williams utterly amazed me. As a thriller it archieved its purpose excellently: it kept you craving to know more about the Emmet connection and other plot features. As a political thriller it was very interesting; and at times even funny! (for example, the Condoleezza Rice clone)

LONG STORY SHORT: If you're into political thrillers, watch it.

Mad Men
(2007)

Genius
This series is absolute genius. Many people on here say they found it boring, which makes me wonder. Who can find this series boring?

From the first episode of season one, this series is absorbing. You begin to understand each character, except Don Draper, who is always a mystery.

This series is not for people who enjoy mainstream series with a pattern, such as House, The Closer, Grey's Anatomy etc. etc. Each episode is unique.

I'd like to refer to user rangeriderrango from Canada. He says "The men wear suits that the nerdiest of nerds wouldn't be caught dead in." Huh? Every suits fits them perfectly. This series is really strong in design and costumes.

A series that is so well made and yet intelligent and makes you think is rare. I highly recommend everyone to watch it.

Undercurrent
(1946)

6.3? This must be wrong
Why does this film have a 6.3? Even the most cruel critic would give it a higher grade. There are many reasons why it should have, at least, a 7.

To start with, the performances are incredible. There are some people here who criticize K. Hepburn's performance, when it is very good, very funny at the start and increasingly good as the film develops. Robert Taylor is absolutely excellent. Robert Mitchum doesn't appear in much of the film, but he acts his part perfectly.

This film is directed by a great director, Vincente Minelli, who never disappoints and gives the film a quick, captivating pace. This film has a lot in common with "Rebecca", which is only a little better. All in all, a film well worth watching.

The Reader
(2008)

The Reader is disappointing.
This film is very disappointing. Kate Winslet doesn't normally do bad films, but here she has stained her perfect record. The idea was good but the film was bad. Ralph Fiennes is over acted, he has gone downhill since his days in "The English Patient".

Stephen Daldry used to direct excellent films (The Hours, Billy Elliot) but now there is a stain in his perfect record too. I found this film at times boring and slow. In general, this film is an example of good talent wasted.

I think it isn't worth paying for it at the cinema or in a video-club, if you are curious to see a bad film download it. I would have preferred not seeing this film, because before I thought Kate Winslet was a great actress but I couldn't imagine she would do a film like this.

I give it a 1/10.

Moulin Rouge!
(2001)

Spectacular,Spectacular! (no words in the vernacular can describe this great movie)
Moulin Rouge is one of the best musicals ever!It includes everything: 1.Entertainment 2.Drama 3.LOTS of comedy 4.Excellent cast (Ewan Mac,Nicole) 5.VG director 6.Good Dancing 7.Very Original 8.And last of all the music,it is:

a)Very Original-the idea of mixing lots of famous songs (best=Elephant Love Medley and Roxannes Tango)

b)Good singers-Ewan and Nicole sing very,very well.

c)Just the right moment to put in a song

d)Every song fits perfectly with the plot.

I recommend this musical for all musical and non-musical lovers. Also for every person that likes to have a good laugh and enjoy a movie once in a while.
