Ivan Vasilevich menyaet professiyu
(1973)

Horrible!
I would like to propose to IMDb to unmercifully deny Bulgarians to comment foreign (to them) movies, especially when everything they have ever heard of a country which the movie is made in /times it describes was/is a cliché. You cannot comment something you don't understand and especially when you cannot possibly understand it in lifetime. Likewise you cannot comment Pythagorus theorem when you're not mathematician or Eifel Tower if you are not architect, you cannot criticize gem of comedy for being silly when you don't understand it in first place. You can, however, tell the others that its been silly TO YOU, just because YOU are used to toilet-drawn "humor", with silliness and stupidness you see in every modern Bulgarian comedy which has gone its way from stardom in 50's to 80s to total drop down quality nowadays. _Shoe maker, do not watch above the shoes!_ And leave masterpieces like this one alone. If you're Bulgarian, this is probably not your movie for the evening. Go grab the Bulgarian Pie 10 instead.

Monkey Trouble
(1994)

Surprisingly good
I remember this film as being a just-OK kids film but on watching it for a second or third time I realized that it's a darn good movie. Avoids all the problems of "Alaska" (another movie Thora Birch starred in) like lame lines and not-so-good acting. The acting in this movie was very believable and the lines were well-written. SPOILERS I actually thought that the weakest part of the movie was Harvey Keitel's character, just seemed out of place or slightly annoying or something. The Mafia sequence probably could have been avoided as I felt it didn't add much to the movie. That time could have been better spent exploring Thora's character's life or something. I would say this is a top film for its genre.

Le voyage dans la lune
(1902)

One of the first breakthroughs in film
The trip to the moon began cinema in the aspect we have come to know. It was one of the first movies to have a complex storyline, many scenes, and special effects (thanks to the fact that Melies was a magician as well as many other things). Much editing went into this film as well. His sets were spectacular - perhaps a little to spectacular, as they drew my attention away from the action at times. I love the scene where the 80 year old french guy with the huge beard bodyslams the king of the moon. You'll probably recognize the scene where they "zoom in" on the moon, although the moon is actually pulled toward the camera as they didn't have "zoom in" technology yet. See this movie - its a fun one.
