Very straight forward shark movie. A bunch of people are on a holiday in a gorgeous setting. There is at least one shark that eats people.
This movie was unbearably long. Every unnecessarily long scene of people listening to music and dancing, or sharing mind-numbingly dumb dialogue was painful, knowing how long the overall movie would go on for. The characters are pretty stupid overall. An early scene shows someone who has stolen a boat and killed its captain, only to go to the middle of nowhere and get off the large, safe yacht in favour of a tiny dingy. Why? Why in the hell would anyone do that? What was the point of that?
The points are for the fact that it was shot properly on professional cameras with proper sound equipment, and some effort went into the silly soundtrack and score. I also always give a terible movie at least 2-3 points for being shot somewhere gorgeous. The good bad movies have the decency to give you something beautiful to look at while your ears are being assaulted by stupidity. This movie did that. Everything was beautiful. And the CGI shark was not the worst.
There are better dumb shark movies to watch than this one, but I'm glad that I saw it once, as a shark movie completist.

A mild-mannered real estate agent must fight the old life he ;eft behind when a person whose death he faked comes back. His estranged brother continually sends a series of comedically inept murders to warn his brother something. The Rose character who returns has marginally believable reasons for doing what she is doing. There is great, comedic, acrobatic and violent fighting throughout.
The points given are for the fights which were choreographed with comedy in mind, as well as Ke Huy Quan, who is charming, funny, likeable throughout. The rest of the cast and the weird romcom vibe that they seemed to be going for was boring, The Rose character in particular was very stupidly written, whose lines are barely more than sassy exposition (which is the worst kind of exposition.) Having her narrate, as well as the main narrator was very confusing and off-putting. The brother and the boss were enjoyable as well. And the fighting was great. Like a ballet of comedic, impressive violence.
Overall, it was made well, shot well, acted well enough, but the script and story were too stupid to want to watch again. I'd definitely watch another action comedy with Ke Huy Quan though. He was great. The violence was great. More of him and his stories, please.

There is an extended family that includes individuals who may be criminally afiliated. Parts of the family are not criminally affiliated. Everyone is charmless, unfunny, unlikeable, and generally annoying.
It was made well enough with proper cameras and sound equipment. It was just written poorly, by unfunny, hack writers who aren't comedy writers. The lines aren't funny, they are annoying. The stupid science kid is annoying, not endearing.
I really, really wanted to like this more, but it was just so hard to watch this many gross, dumb, uninteresting jerks roll around in the pigsty of unfunny family drama for 2 hours. There's a way to make sharing intimate and graphic details to an underage, science nerd (probably,) but this movie didn't accomplish that. It was incredibly hard to keep watching jerks say unfunny charmless lines, one after the other.
