  • 'McAllister United'

Pierce Brosnan (Conrad Harrigan) continues to absolutely shine in this crowning role of his career! This is his episode from beginning to end. His charming Irish menace is chilling, yet in the hands of a less-skillful actor it could come across as camp.

The sit down Harry (Tom Hardy) has with Eddie (Anson Boon) is priceless; beautifully written and masterfully acted by Tom Hardy!

Just when we think this series couldn't get any better, Toby Jones (Tattersall) appears.

Maeve (Helen Mirren) is playing a treacherous game that can only end in blood, sweat and tears! But, Harry is on to her shenanigans.

  • Bumpy Ride

This once excellent series has headed straight downhill in this Season 4.

The opening scene in Bumpy's office with Frank Lucas was ludicrous, as was the end scene with Bumpy and Frank.

The emphasis on Bumpy's daughter Elise (Antoinette Crowe-Legacy), and her 'cause of the month club' stops all the action cold.

Frank Lucas (Rome Flynn) has become a one-note monotony.

Ditto for Joe Colombo (Michael Raymond-James) and Stella Gigante (Lucy Fry).

The outstanding Vincent D'Onofrio (Vincent 'The Chin' Gigante) remains AWOL.

We even got a visit from the lesser Malcom X actor (Jason Alan Carville), and the always-boring Whoopi Goldberg (Miss Willa).

The stunning naivety of Mayme (Ilfenesh Hadera) is annoying.

The saving grace in this hugely-disappointing episode was the return of Katherine Narducci (Olympia Gigante), Bo Dietl (Tommy Luchese) and a focus on the always-interesting Erik LaRay Harvey (Del Chance).

I have 3 1/2 seasons invested in this series, so I will finish it out, but my expectations are gone.

  • A Tale of Two Seasons

    I rated Season 1 with 7 stars and Season 2 with 5 stars, so a 6 overall.

Whereas Season 1 was taught, well acted, and an engaging story line, Season 2 was predictable, dumbed-down, and for some inexplicable reason, lead actor Max Irons (Joe Turner), who was very good in Season 1, started overacting in Season 2.

Also, it is ludicrous that Reuel Abbott (Bob Balaban) would still be with the CIA after what he did in Season 1! Although Balaban is always interesting and a compelling actor.

Season 2 also suffers from the departure of William Hurt (Bob Partridge).

The other problem I had was with the character of Gabrielle Joubert (Leem Lubany). We have often seen this type of character come out of a Hollywood writer's room. A character that is always at the right place, at the right time. Always ahead of the rest of the very smart people. Untouchable. Uncatchable. A product of very fortuitous timing. Boring!

I also thought Sam McCarthy (Sam Barber) was a real find, with a promising future.
